I haven't been tanning in a couple weeks and I usually look forward to the bubbly ladies in the Hazel Dell location. However when I went in last night was very disappointed.\r \r When I first walked in, there was a customer being helped in front of me with a few questions and concerns and the girl helping/working was less than enthused to answer. Usually, when I've heard of some sort of concern they're always there to make it a better expereince. Instead this girl looked at her and all she said was ""you'll have to call corporate on that""...\r \r Then when she got her settled, I wasn't even greeted happily...it was a simple...""last name"". I gave her my last name and she asked how long I wanted to go I advised I hadn't tanned in a couple weeks and was up to 17 minutes..what did she suggest. She said ""I don't know, it's up to you."" I would have thought I would have gotten a little more feedback then thatn.\r \r I'm sad to say that she put a sour taste in my mouth the other day and I hope next time I go in she won't be there. PI went in because of a coupon I had. When I entered I noticed how clean and inviting it was. The staff greeted me right away and made me feel welcome. I was given a tour, all my quesitons were answered. The gal even lent me her lotion! Thats service. The only thing i didn't like is it seems a bit much for all the packages and tokens they have going on. Overall it was the staff members that sold me on buying a package. Hats off!! (678 02) more

I was very impressed when I first walked in at the cleanliness and decor. Maddi was very polite and helpful, she showed me around and explained the machines and prices. I think the only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the price of the stand-up machine - it should be more affordable. I'm otherwise very happy that I came to this tanning salon and would recommend it to anyone. ( 67764) more

This tanning salon is Awesome!! Very helpful and nice employees. Its well maintained and the tanning booths are really nice and clean. They provide some nice lotions and towels. Tanned yesterday for the first time here....the bed was great, service was friendly this time~ thanks to Maddi C. for her friendly welcome and introduction to the salon.....much better than a previous time when we went in and had terrible service from a red-headed male. I have been tanning here almost a year and everytime i come in the staff is friendly and greets me by name.Once in awhile there is a few minutes wait to tan but usually I can get right in.The have the best prices and the cleanest tanning salon in Hazel Dell. I defently recommend.#58151 more

After reading past reviews of this tanning salon I am extremely confused. My experience has been nothing like these past reviews. My experience has been purely amazing from the moment I walked through the door. I came from another tanning salon in Hazel Dell which deals in ""minute usage"" which I didn't care for. James an employee at this salon walked me around and explained what Sunsup could offer to me and knew what he was talking about. I have never felt pressured into any purchase here. This establishment is amazing along with great staff. I work right across the street and love getting off work to go tanning. Thank you for the experience that every customer deserves and gets here. One employee told me that they believe their business is the ""Nordstrom of tanning."" More like used car lot. After you sign up, you cannot simply enter the facility and go tanning with direct, high pressure sales tactics by rude employees. EVERY SINGLE TIME. The last time i went in there, they tried to sell me lotions and upgrades that I have turned down every time. I politely said no, thank you, and they wouldn't take no for an answer. The employee kept pushing, even ROLLING HIS EYES at me and insulting my intelligence in front of other customers, saying that I didn't know how to tan if I didn't want to buy all these products.\r \r And BEWARE of their initial signup packages. If you want a basic tanning package and have no intention of using high pressure beds, they have two options. If you plan to purchase a lotion they will pressure you into buying the higher priced of the two options, saying that they will give you a break on the lotion. However, if you buy the lower priced option and just buy the full-priced lotion, you still pay 10 dollars less!!! I pointed out to the employee and asked her why I would spend 10 more dollars for the exact same thing. She had no reason and just kept saying, ""I think it's the better option"". I was like, how is it better for me to give you 10 more dollars for the same thing? She had no answer. \r \r Tanning should be a relaxing experience, not one where you feel like you have a battle to even get to your room because of the employees. My advice is to not go there. Had I known I never would have. I've tanned at 3 other places in the portland metro and this is by far the worst because they are so nasty in there. more

I originally switched from another tanning business to Suns Up primarily because the SunsUp tans didn't expire. When I signed up, I was issued a card. This is a common/reasonable way to identify a client. And my experiences thus far had been good. I recently went in to tan and was surprised and disappointed to see them using a new system. A FINGER PRINT ID!!!! I'm sure most people just go along with it and like the ease of use, not thinking beyond the convenience. When I expressed the fact that I didn't want to provide a FINGERPRINT to a tanning salon, I was kindly given another option... Don't tan at SunsUp!!! Fingerprint or go someplace else. They wouldn't accept me continuing to use my card. I have a security background and was concerned over being fingerprinted by the US government for Homeland Security reasons. Now a tanning business wants to take and store my fingerprint. With the amount of ID theft going on, and business's not taking the precautions to ensure the publics information is secure, I'm shocked that SunsUp is going in this direction. A company that is going to REQUIRE a fingerprint needs to prove to me that they have a security systems in place. If you are concerned about a tanning establishment storing your fingerprint, I suggest that you don't go to SunsUp. Hopefully they will start giving their clients that aren't interested in this, another option. more

I have been a member of SunsUp Tanning for just over a year and a half. Back in January, my job transferred me across the river into Vancouver. I had previously been tanning at the Clackamas location. I wasn't able to commute back into Portland, just to tan, and I expressed my concern to the staff. They suggested that I freeze my account until the brand new location opened up in Vancouver! What a great service to offer members! Needless to say, as soon as the new location opened up in Hazel Dell, I re-activated my account. I have been tanning there since March, and it is a BEAUTIFUL location. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and truly reflects the professionalism of the entire company. Its hard to believe such a high-class salon can offer tanning for under $20 a month. I have sent several friends in to check out SunsUp, and they love it as well. I would recommend SunsUp to anyone looking for a tanning salon characterized by state-of-the-art equipment and a friendly, well-educated staff. more
