Very Impressed! 6/6/2011

My husband and I have used SV Animal Hospital for years and were aprehensive when we found that Dr. Yohler had retired. It was not going to be a 'nice' vet visit-we needed to have our 16 year old 'puppy' put down. Dr. Hughes was amazing! Not only did she flop down on the floor with our dog and do the exam right then and there, but she was kind and caring to us and our son. (Not to mentiion our precious pup!) I have nothing but admiration for Dr. Yohler, and I'm so very pleased that his replacement is as wonderful as he was! more

Praiseworthy 1/28/2011

I and my cats have gone to Dr. Yohler for years and we loved the service he gave us and, of course, we miss him. Dr. Yohler told me that he searched long and hard until he found someone he could vouch for to take over his practice and was confident in the new owners ability to provide excellent service. Since then we have been to visit the new vets several times, both Dr. Timmermans and Dr. Hughes. On all occasions we were given a thorough explanation (which is what I particularly valued about Dr. Yohler) and were charged no more than what Dr. Yohler had been charging just before he left his practice. I have found the followup by the new owners to be unusually excellent. Also the care shown by the assistants has been very, very gentle and caring toward my animals. All were very good, but Jennifer in particular is so gentle and sweet toward them. I would add that the three one-star reviews are all similar in wording and sound like the same person bearing a grudge who wants to brin more

Must Try Sun Valley!!! 12/30/2010

Dr. Timmermans and Dr. Hughes are amazing. We have a 5 year old French Bulldog who has been plagued with health problems her whole life. And for the first time in her life, we are actually diagnosing and treating her conditions rather than treating symptoms as they arise. These two doctors are really smart and very caring. They climb right on the ground with the animals and it's obvious that they love what they do. But they are equally impressive with us owners. They always explain in detail the options, they are very up front about costs (and this is the 5th vet we have gone to - believe me the prices are NOT unreasonable - and considering the quality of care - they are actually extremely reasonable). Dr. Timmermans calls us to check on our dog. I have never had a vet (or even a doctor for myself) who has been so attentive and caring. I fully recommend Dr. Hughes and Dr. Timmermans with no hesitation. We feel so fortunate to have them as doctors for our little girl. If you more

Calvin is a very happy 8 month old pitbull puppy. We took him to the vet to have a rash checked out. Dr. Timmermans is not your typical vet....she came into our exam room and immediately sat down on the floor with our"Crazy Calvin". After she delivered lots of belly rubbings and he responded by cleaning her face throughly with his tounge, she turned her focus towards us as Calvin got up and checked out the room. While she was still sitting on the floor he proceded to lift his leg and pee right on her head! We were mortified! But she just laughed and gave him a big hug and said "Well... this is a first". No hard feeling were harbored and Calvin was given a through exam and medications to clear up his rash. Luckly our appointment was right before lunch and she was able to go home and shower before continuing her day. more

My puppy is bad. Just kidding... I guess I am the bad one beacuse I left the chocolate where he thought it was for him. I knew that chocolate was bad for pets but I did not know how bad. I immediately called my vet Dr. Hughes at Sun Valley Regional Animal Hospital. I was told that Rocky should be brought in right away. When we got there they got to work on him right away and made him vomit up most of the chocolate then kept him there for the remainder for the day on fluids to flush out his system. I am so thankful for the promptness and compassion I was given there and I know I will never take Rocky to any other vet. Sun Valley Hospital - Give a Chance 10/4/2010

I started going to Sun Valley Animal Hospital around April right before Dr. Yohler found Dr. Hughes. I didn't want to write anyting until i felt comfortable and sure about the new changes. I can only say that i have been very impressed with Dr. Hughes' caring and competence regarding my shih tzu. I think saying that these veterinarians are money hungry without compassion is very harsh and very untrue. If i thought for a moment that my puppy was not being given the best of care with very loving folks, i would never continue to go. Don't let one incident or one bad write up discourage you from trying Dr. Hughes and her staff. So far they have been wonderful and very attendtive and fair in pricing. I will be having my puppy's teeth cleaned soon and feel i am in very qualified hands. more

BEST VET YET!!! 8/19/2010

The new owners are much different from the previous owner IN A GOOD WAY!!!! They took great care of my pet. I went in there with a very scared pooch that needed her teeth cleaned and left with a happy pooch with pearly whites and much better breath! They were very clear with the estimate before I left and answered all of my questions. It was a bit more than I had planned on paying but Scarlet and I will never go anywhere else for her health care. Dr. Hughes is the total package. She is compassionate and does not leave out any details of the care she is providing. Thumbs up for Sun Valley Regional Animal Hospital!! more

Be Aware of this new people!! 8/18/2010

They are there to eat your pocket, not care about the sick animals. Much different than the previous doctrors. Not happy with the new people at all. Be aware when you go to this place. more

The Absolute Best Animal Care 4/19/2010

Dr. Yohler has been cares for our animals for over 10 years, and the care and compasion we have received has been the best. Even when we had to have two of our animal "put to sleep", he helped us through the very emotional experience. He has always made us feel as if we were his only clients by taking time not only in his treatment, but in educating us. God bless him and his staff. more

Sun Valley Animal Hospital 8/3/2009

I work doing cat rescue in the area with a local organization. Dr.Yohler has gone overboard to help us. He is so good and explains things so well to us, always trying to find the best and least costly way to approach a medical problem. He has an amazing ability to do things that no other vet said could be possible. We have brought him some badly injured homeless cats, and he has managed to put them back together. He is so amazing in that regard and is a determined and skillful surgeon. Dr. Peeper, his alternate vet working with him, is likewise excellent. She is very kind and compassionate and is always helpful in guiding us to make the right decisions when dealing with our many heartbreaking situations that we come across when we help homeless cats and kittens. I can't say enough about Sun Valley Animal Hospital and their staff, too. more

Drs. Yohler and Peeper are solid practitioners 7/2/2009

We have used Sun Valley Animal Hospital since 1993 or 94. Dr. Yohler is practical, ethical, and a joy. Dr. Peeper feels like a soul mate and practices in a similar manner. She got the unpleasant duty of putting down my older 2 dogs, both rescued dogs from ARF. The second dog was only 10, but he attacked and bit a passersby on the street during our morning walk. Both Dr. Yohler and Dr. Peeper listened, advised, and supported me in this very difficult decision. Now Dr. Peeper is caring for Cody, my standard poodle pup....not a project like the other 2 faithful dogs, and is cheering me on as I enjoy a dog without a past for Dr. Peeper says I've done my part for rescued pets (13 foster dogs and 2 of our own). Sun Valley Animal Hospital offers old fashioned vet care in a modern setting.. more

Dr. Yohler really is the BEST! 6/15/2009

All I can say is "Wow"! Dr. Yohler is awesome; you can tell that he is in his profession because its more than just a job to him. Our 5 month old yellow lab Ryu has had some issues with his tummy, but Dr. Yohler was able to successfully treat them. Aside from that, he is just easy to understand and to talk to, and you know he knows what he's talking about. He's very thorough and knowledgable. Kudos to his staff as well! We recommend Dr. Yohler's office to anybody! more

At a friend's recommendation, we first took our elderly retriever mix to Dr. Yohler after losing a younger dog to a serious medication blunder at another veterinary hospital. Dr. Yohler's experience, honesty, and just plain common sense was so important. Had we not taken our old fellow to him, we most likely would have lost him, too. Instead, his life was extended to the ripe old age of almost 16. Our younger German shepherd mix is now a Sun Valley patient, and loves her vet and the entire staff at the hospital. They are also wonderful with cats. If you want experience, a thorough explanation of your pet's health and options, and caring support through the rough times, this is the place to go. And hey...our shepherd wants me to mention that Dr. Yohler has treats in his pocket. more

Dr. Yohler is the best!! 12/24/2008

I came across this review site accidentally but am thrilled to have the chance to tell you about Dr. Yohler. He gave exceptional care to my two dogs. He explains everything very clearly including drawing on a white board so it makes sense to you. His prices cannot be beat and he would NEVER do anything to try to get more money out of you unnecessarily. He is honest, very knowledgeable and a good person who truly loves what he does. more
