I was admitted for overnight observation following what had been planned to be an out-patient surgery. The care I received on the floor was absolutely horrible! I was to have had my arm immoblized by a sling ... although I asked about it several times, it didn't arrive until just prior to change of shift the following morning. The night nurse, though she checked on me through the night, did not appear to be at all knowledgeable regarding my file and my needs. However, I should have been happy that she checked on me at all, it seems. When the day staff came on the next day, my ""day nurse"" came in and wrote her name on the board. She asked me if I needed anything. I asked for some jello (I was on clear liquids and would not be released until I could keep them down). She never brought the jello. I had to ask the nurse aide for it later. The nurse aide came in several times (when called) but left me to negotiate the IV pole in and out of the restroom. At 11 a.m. I started to wonder when/if I was going to be released. I buzzed the day nurse, the nurse aide came. She knew nothing. Said she would find out. Didn't. They tried to blame it on my dr's office. I finally called my dr from my cell phone. She said she had talked to the day nurse TWICE and had given my discharge orders. I overhead the nurse aide tell the day nurse that I had called the dr myself. After that, the day nurse came in with an ""attitude"" to tell me that she was extremely busy and had ""been on the phone all morning on my behalf ...."" Really?? Hmmmm ... Bottomline, I found the care in this hospital to be seriously sub-standard and given a choice, I would NEVER have a procedure done there again, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. In fact, my CAT gets better care from my veterinarian than I got from this hospital! Boswell Hospital is a blemish on the Banner network of healthcare facilities!
Cons: Waiting area very dated, ""chopped up,"" staff incompetence, sub-standard patient care
