My sister-in-law and brother were expecting their first child and hurried to the hospital on a saturday night. Her contractions were 8 minutes apart and she was in a tremendous amount of pain. Her water hadn't broken so they observed her for a few hours and then sent her home where she waited, frightened (like most first parents are). They were only home for about 2 hours before they headed back to hospital when they were then admitted.
