Weak on seafood. Avoid lobster. Steaks above average but weak at that price level in both portion and quality. Wait staff well above average. Entrees not awful, but can't recommend when other options are better value. Pros: good service Cons: marginal, hit or miss food more

A+ food and service 11/19/2008

I wanted to go somewhere special for my 30th birthday so my husband, being the wonderful man he is, suggested Sullivans Steakhouse. We bagan our evening in their bar with a cocktail. My husband had his usual scotch, I on the otherhand was intrigued by their martini list. I chose banana cream pie martini...it was delicious! After our cocktails we made our way into the dining room where we were greeted immediately by a smiling server named Marissa. She congradulated me on my birthday upon arrival which made me feel special! We began our expierience with a seafood sampler which was stacked with fresh chilled seafood assortment(florida stone crab claws, HUGE shrimp cocktail, jumbo lump crab meat, oysters on the half shell, and baby lobster tails). Coming from the coast I'm a bit of a seafood snob so I was shocked that everything was sooooooo fresh and delicious. My husband had their signature steak the kansas city strip, I had cold water australian lobster tail. the lobster tail was broiled so all the natural sugars on the inside rose to the top during the cooking process which made a to die for carmelized crust. My server even hand carved it for me tableside! Their side dishes are huge, so it was no surprise that we had to take home the leftover cheesy augratin potatoes and creamed spinach. A complimentry souffle was brought to the table after dinner along with a birthday card the entire staff had signed. After dinner we made our way back to the bar for jazz cocktails and cigars. Not only was the food outstanding, but my entire birthday experience was unforgetable. So many servers passed by throughout the evening just to wish me happy birthday, and the manager Travis was no exception. Travis made us feel at home even though it was our first visit. Sullivans keep up the good work! Pros: food drinks staff more

too bad... 5/28/2008

Sullivans has unprofessional, skanky-acting bartenders- disappointed in the white-trashness of the staff. Pros: wanted to like it Cons: bartenders attitudes got annoying more

Best BAR in Town!!!! 4/5/2008

Last evening my girlfriends and I had the time of our life at Sullivans! The food was amazing the drinks were better and the service was impecable. We started off with a seafood sampler and was able to add Florida stone crab claws... IN TUCSON!! We couldn't believe how succulent and fresh their seafood was! We were so impressed by the variety and prices of their martini list that we were determined to try them all! On top of the amazing food and drinks in the few hours we spent there it seemed that every server and manager stopped by to say hello and make sure our visit was enjoyable (we've never seen so many smiling faces). We were blown away by the hospitality and attention to detail. I have never been so impressed with a dining experience it was unbelievable to get than knid of service in such a happening bar! Not only will I reccomend Sullivans to all my friends I cant wait to go back!!! Pros: ambience, energy, service, FUN more

They Care 3/27/2008

Great place. We had dinner there on Friday night after work and really enjoyed ourselves. Talk about a staffs ability to relieve stress, I was in a bad mood and ready to jump on everybody, but the hostess, servers and manager who came by really took the time and care to make us feel relaxed. They seemed concerned about how we were doing. The flow of the meal was not hurried annd we didn't have to wait very long either. The food was outstanding by the way. Pros: Service, value, care more

Worst Service 2/17/2008

I will never eat at Sullivan's. I recently made reservations and upon arriving found that my reservations would not be honored. I was expected to wait an additional 30 to 45 minutes. I am not going to pay $120-$150 after waiting for an hour. If I wanted to wait in line I would have gone to Applebee's. more

WOW 10/28/2007

My husband and I went to Sullivan's last night for dinner, WOW. What a great time. Everybody was so nice, we were expecting the staff to be stuffy because we thought this was a really expensive place. On the contrary, the hostess, servers and even the manager, Chris I think his name was, were so nice and made us feel so comfortable, we thought we were at a friends house for dinner. The music was upbeat, the staff was hustling, but everyone was smiling and seemed to be having fun. The food was outstanding. The Ahi Tartare was sooo fresh tasting and the Filet was really tender. get the Oscar if you go, it really adds to the steak. My husband got the Seabass, and it tasted like it was caught this morning. The sauce was like a soy glaze and went well. Our server Meghan was real friendly and knew her stuff. The recomendations were right on. Anyway, it so hard to find great value, they weren't as expensiveas we thought and we felt like we got more than what we paid for. GO THERE, you will love it. Pros: Ambience, food, service more

Best steak and seafood in Tucson 5/17/2007

I took my wife to Sullivan?s for our anniversary. It was our third visit since moving to Tucson. We are new to Tucson and have had trouble finding good food. Sullivan?s has been a 10 every time. The service was great--including an anniversary card from the staff. I had a special, 8oz. filet and half Maine lobster. She had the king crab legs. We shared the wedge salad, Ahi appetizer, and horseradish mashed potatoes. The salad was perfect as usual. The Ahi was melt-in?your-mouth and prepared perfectly. The potatoes are always great. My steak was a great cut and prepared right. The lobster was small and succulent, and, they brought out the de-shelled claw on a separate plate. My wife?s crab was great. The staff then brought out their Grand Marnier souffle compliments of the house for our anniversary. The souffle was quite good and very light. Sullivan?s is out favorite restaurant in Tucson. more

QUALITY DOESN'T MATCH UP TO THE PRICE!!!! 11/2/2006

I dinned here 11/1/06 and was disappointed. I had the onion soup, Cajun ribeye with a side of spinach and a diet coke. My onion soup was ok but had a very extra thick layer of cheese about 1.5 thick. My steak, I had to force myself to eat it. It was quit burnt around the edges and the middle was overdone and dry (even though I asked for medium rare) with no flavor. The spinach was over cooked and oily. My diet coke was flat and the ratio of coke syrup to carbonation was off. The service was good but for the top dollar price one pays I would have expected much better quality food. I get better steaks at Outbacks or other similar less costly steak houses (and I dont have to pay $5-$8 extra just to have 1 side). I only got a lone slab of over cooked & priced steak with ZERO sides included on my plate. more

Best Filet 6/5/2006

My wife & I were just there while visiting Tucson, We both said the steak we had was the ""Best"" we have ever had, Try the 12 oz Filet Mignon, Bit pricey but well worth it. If your into Martini's try the Pineapple Martini. Great place !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Steak, Martini Cons: Expensive, Parking more

Poor choice for upscale prices 5/10/2006

I have eaten at Sullivans twice, a year apart. The service is earnest but inept. The food is marginal, or given the prices, poor. As examples - salads at about $7 each came as follows: wedge - about 1/8 of a small head of lettuce; spinach with warm dressing - cold and gooey dressing; caesar - no romaine, dressing out of a generic jar. Sides - potatoes not served with two requests, told server to skip them. They came, cold just as I finished the rest of the meal. more

Good Time 4/6/2005

Although the food was decent, if a bit overpriced, the service was the best I've ever had -- which says a lot considering this is a chain. I was thoroughly impressed with our waiter and would come again -- just for him. Pros: Good Food, Excellent waitstaff Cons: Pricey more

not that great 6/13/2004

For what you pay, you get a pretty tough and flavorless piece of meat that you'd send back at better restaurants. I've eaten there three times and had to send my steak back twice. Definitely not prime, like you'll get at Ruth's Chris. Plus, they jam the tables so close together, it's not a pleasant experience. Still, service is superb. more

Simply The Best 6/3/2004

Sullivan's is simply the best steakhouse I've been to and that includes Morton's and Ruth Chris's. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable without being pushy. Their wine list can fit any budget and the steaks were prepared to perfection. I never thought I'd say that I actually loved a serving of creamed corn, but the dish at Sullivan's was great, as were the horseradish mashed potatoes. Pros: Quality of Food, Service, Wine List more

Ms 5/19/2004

Nothing ""stuffy"" about the place at all despite it's decor. Very comfortable and relaxing with great ambience and atmosphere. Everybody was very helpful and friendly. Almost too many ""specials"" to be explained by the waitress and decisions to be made. We'll go back again. Pros: ambience, menu selections, wait staff Cons: , really pricey more

Heavenly steaks! 3/7/2004

Tied for best steak in town (with McMahon's). LOVE the ambiance; it's a 1920's, jazz-playing, mafia-looking restaurant. Trust me, that's a good thing! Wonderful wine selection, from inexpensive to Oh-my-goodness expensive. Melt-in-your-mouth steaks. Valet-parking. Great bar for after work. That's the short and sweet of Sullivan's. Pros: The food!, The wine list!, The ambiance! Cons: , No smoking area more

Worth Every Dollar 5/15/2003

Sullivan's is definetly worth the drive from Phoenix. The atmosphere is great and fits any occassion. The calamari was perfect and not chewy. The filet mignon melts and the Stoli was served chilled just as mother nature intended. more

simple elegance! 1/19/2003

Finally a Steak House in Tucson that lives up to the name! The taste of their steaks(rib eye is my favorite) will remain long after the price is forgotten! In addition to their savory preparation of food, the lounge presents great jazz! Pros: valet parking, lounge jazz more

GREAT 1/13/2003

This is a great place to have a good meal, great glass of wine and relax after a busy week Pros: Friendly Greeters, Inexpensive, Good Menu Selection more

Go Back in Time 12/19/2002

Sullivans is clearly the best steak house in Tucson, although pricey, the cuisine is 5 star. The wine list is extensive, but house drinks can be easily substituted without losing the ambiance. The service is the best in Tucson. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is willing to open up their pocket book for a special occasion. Pros: best service, best food, best atmosphere Cons: expensive more
