Worst

With the exception of an amaretto cake, the rest are not very good- at least not worth the price. Even worse is the poor customer service. I have never heard of a bakery that has ...

Absolutely terrible 2/10/2014

I ordered my daughter's birthday cake here. The woman who took the order was impolite, condescending and provided poor customer service. I attempted to give the business however, the benefit of the doubt. The chocolate cake was grainy and lacked flavor. The butter cream icing was very thick and honestly just awful. Very disappointed with the product and service. Give it a miss. more

Poor Wedding Cake Experience 7/6/2011

My dear friend had a SugarBakers wedding cake. Unfortunately it was quite an unpleasant experience as they lost the order, lost the proof of payment, and delivered the WRONG cake. When contacted about the mistake in the cake flavors, SugarBakers did not apologize or acknowledge the error, but blamed every other vendor involved. It was a shame that an otherwise perfect day had a bad aftertaste because of the incorrect product delivered and the horrid customer service. Choose carefully brides. more

Bride 4/18/2011

I was scheduled to come in for a tasting on Saturday, April 16th, and made the person that I made the appointment with aware that I would be coming from Philadelphia. On the day that we came down, there was a horrendous storm. As a result of the bad weather, there were at least four accidents on the way down. A trip that normally takes us about an hour and half, took us four hours. We called in to the bakery to let them know that we were running late, at which they said that it would be okay and for us to still come down. After finding out that that it would take even longer due to all of the accidents, we tried calling the bakery back to ask them if we should keep driving or just turn around, because we were obviously going to be later than expected. We called, and called, and called, at least 10 times leaving two messages. Two hours later, when we were about 5 minutes away from the bakery (at 3:15pm), Mike called us back to tell us that they would be closing any minute and could not see us. He didn't ask us where we were or consider the fact that we had just driven that far in horrible weather, or the fact that you close at 4:00, not 3:15. We were obviously disappointed to hear this after driving for four hours and even more disappointed that nobody picked up the phone or even acknowledged or voicemails to at least tell us to turn around. These people need to take a refresher coarse in Business 101. Come on, what place of business, just doesn't answer the phone for hours on end during store hours. To make things worse, I see that there is a $50 charge on our credit card for "missing" our appointment. I called and they said that they would refund it. Still, not even so much as an apology for completely ignoring our calls all day. I have to say, this is by far the worst experience that I have had with a vendor to date. Sugar Bakers is a great example of why wedding planning is stressful. more

Disappointment 12/31/2010

With the exception of an amaretto cake, the rest are not very good- at least not worth the price. Even worse is the poor customer service. I have never heard of a bakery that has a bad attitude. Seriously people, it's just cake! My favorites are Charm City and Cake Love. more

Fabulous Cakes 12/2/2009

Good: The taste! The customer service was great, they helped me pick a design for my cake very easily. Bad: I liked everything!. Improvements: Maybe some free samples! :). Other: They helped us through the entire process of picking our wedding cake, even though I had no idea what I wanted when I walked in the door. I had a great time and the consultant really got our style.. more

tasty cakes! 12/19/2005

When I was planning my wedding, I had a tasting with Sugarbakers cakes. I tasted two flavors, and both were excellent. The raspberry and amaretto filling was especially good. The cakes start at about $4 per serving, which is about on par with other bakers that I priced. They offer tons of cake designs, and will work with you to design whatever you like. more

Good cakes, but pricey 10/28/2005

We went for a tasting here and were very impressed with the cakes. The sales people seemed like they do this so much that they kind of lost interest in it. I mean, this is usually everyone's BIG day. So why not make the bride feel like she is special to close the deal? The cakes were very tasty but very very pricey and the sales people were very pushy to close the deal that day. I also found that they weren't too keen on working with me on a custom design. If you know what you want and you have the money, they are great. more

delicious! 9/12/2005

We tasted wedding cakes at Sugarbakers while planning our recent wedding. The cake was amazing. They had so many varieties and combinations, not to mention beautiful designs. Everything was delicious. Prices are a little high, and the salesperson was a bit pushy in trying to have us sign a contract on the spot, but, if it fits in your budget, this is definitely THE place in/around Baltimore to get your wedding cake. If you don't at least schedule a tasting here, you're missing out! more
