great venue 4/7/2006

Pretty on the outside, pretty on the inside. Great acoustics and great seating. The only seating issues are the standards: not enough leg room and not enough hip room for fatter people. They always put on great shows and they have a nice gift shop. If you go, take a few minutes to walk around and look at the architecture. It’s great. more

The City's best entertainment venue 2/28/2006

This is the best place to see a show or concert or ANYTHING ever. The building is in the middle of everything, you're near anything you could want to be near. The sound and acoustics rock, and I can't even describe the decoration. It's truly one of a kind. You won't be disappointed, tickets might be expensive for this venue, but trust you'll never forget your experience there. more

One of the world's best symphony houses 2/5/2006

I've been to the Sydney Opera house to see the Philharmonic perform. Yeah, the outside is cool and unique and exciting, but the inside can't even compare to Kimmel's lavish decoration. The reverb is absolutely perfect for listening to all types of music, from classical to jazz to Taiko drummers. It's an absolute must-see if you live here, and if you're only visiting... well, try to get tickets to something. You won't be disappointed. Located right in Center City, anything else you'd want to do is less than a mile away. Catch a performance and some dinner. more

Your jaw will drop 12/30/2005

When I first entered the Kimmel Center, I just couldn't believe that I was in Philadelphia. It was just so tasteful, so awe-inspiring, so well designed and visually pleasing that I was very excited to be here. The lobby with its atrium, the glass roof... Ah... Perelman Hall with its lights and wood floors and plush upholstered chairs, the ushers taking you to your seat. Wow! This place is brand new (almost)! If you like the orchestra, Verizon Hall hosts many concerts. (most of which are pricey) You can even become a patron of the arts when you donate to become a "member' of the center. You can also watch plays here, but they are nothing close to what you'd see on Broadway. Except for the fact that they are way cheaper. I happen to know that you can get tickets for $10 if you come right before the shows start in the evening. That's a really good deal. I've heard that the gift shop and the restaurant are overpriced, but I've never visited them. more

Free lively arts 8/10/2005

Check out the Kimmel center for concerts and other performing arts. The center was build with the community in mind, and it's very easy to just walk in and take in the magnificent architectural views. They've also made it easy for the public to enjoy the arts....something called, Free in the Plaza!, showcases various free concerts in the plaza area throughout the year, and is a great way to experience the Kimmel center if you can't afford to go to the concerts in the 2 fabulous halls. They also have discounted tickets ($10) for certain same day concerts (Community Rush tickets, or Student Rush tickets.) more
