Stuff Etc

I have been a consigner with Stuff since they opened in Iowa City-long time! I consign at all the locals knowing what specific items to take that sell. I noticed problems with consigning when the SW CR store opened. Many times I dropped off items and found that later I had to ask where they are. I even combed the store looking. Some would turn up days later. What I found was a pattern of items being held or hidden by employees so the price would be taken down due to the time span gone by. Some of the items would also be priced to the advantage of employees. The patterns of employee dishonesty finally stopped.But now this store is closing. The management and employees were not as good as in the other locations. Too bad this could have been a great store. We will miss it! more

This store isn't what it used to be! Too many clothes being taken in now that are worn out and should have been rejected by the Stuff employees in the first place. I've noticed this trend on their part, to take apparently "anything" now, and the place is looking trashy. Too many items in the aisles right behind the registers, so if you do buy something, you have to fight their 'display' cases in the aisle, to even get to the cash register. I used to love shopping their but things have deteriorated alot in the SW Cedar Rapids' Stuff Etc. Too bad! more

I agree. I will not pay high price for used clothing when I can get new for relatively the same price when on sale. Further more their clothing is not top quality for the prices they want. Won't waste my time anymore. more

The Stuff stores are great. Great prices for consignment items. They are also great to take consignment items too. more

I was not overly impressed with this store either. They do have a lot of "stuff." And that is exactly what it is, stuff. Sometimes you can find a good deal, but for the most part they want store prices for used items. You can find much better prices at a garage sale. Granted, everything is right there for you, but you may as well go to the discount store and buy it on clearance. The consignment policy isn't that great either. Once you take it there, it is there to disperse of when they are ready if the time is sooner than the 90 days of being there. They get the benefit of taking it to a donation site if it doesn't sell. more

I went to this store when it opened with high hopes! Needless to say my hopes have been dashed. Since then I have returned about 6 times. I thought maybe I was just there on a bad day. Nope! I have never bought a single item here. Their prices are too high! I see things for sale there that are cheaper on Ebay even when you include shipping. I thought it was a "resale" store. In my opinion, don't waste you time here. more

I have had good luck selling, however the service is not always the best when bringing clothes in to resell. They have a policy that once you drop clothes off whether or not they sell they remain property of the bussiness. You have the option to buy them back at 10% of the origional sale price. As I said, I have had good luck with sales, however the service and policies are not the best. more

OK, we have established that I am not a STUFF ETC. fan. So why, do you wonder I would go into this store being disappointed with the stores in Iowa City and Coralville?!? The answer is simple, I decided that I had not beeen inside this store for some time and it deserved a new fresh opinion and view from me. After all, a lot has happened in my life since I last visited this place, maybe the store had changed too. Though this store is a lot larger than the ones in the Iowa City area (or does it seem that way because it seems ot be a bit better organized??!?) Whatever the case, it was a much more attractive store though I noticed at once that the prices were still far too high for "re-sale" items. I mean, if you can go to the local mall and find items on clearance of better quality and at lower prices then why would you wnat to buy here?!? And speaking of items from nearby malls and superstores....I did notice some stuff in original packaging......though I don't know from where they originated, I can see some woman who might have been a "shop-a-holic" and decided to re-sell some of her "stash"...those items were priced fairly but there were few of them so I suspect they are a one time item. bottom line is this.....I would personally rather check out the nearby mall or shop online...even e-bay...but as always, the decidion is yours and yours aline......"let the buyer beware!" more

this store has such a huge variety for a consignment store. they have a large selection of furniture, baby items, clothing, pictures, collectibles, magazines. usually they have a holiday section that is a lot less than if you had to go out and pay full retail price for it. i have found several items in there for my teens and they are in good shape. more

this is a consignment store that has a little bit of everything in it. they have pictures, furniture, jewelry, etc. they also have a large selection of used clothing that is in very good condition. a lot of these are name brand clothing with a lot of wear left in them. they also have used magazines in stock for a fraction of the news stand cost. it is worth stopping by to see what they have gotten in. more

Stuff is a good place to go to get second hand clothes and goods. they have a large variety of childrens, juniors,women and mens clothing. they also sell furniture, books and nick knacks. have very good prices. run specials all the time. they do have layaway. it is just a good place to go to get clothing at good prices instead of paying retail price. more

I love to stop at Stuff periodically to browse for great bargains. With two small children who grow out of their clothes very quickly a store like this is a godsend. I can get current, name brand clothes for a bargain price. I have also found brand new Reebok tennis shoes for me and household items that were like new. It's wonderful to stop in because there is always something new! more
