Great healthy hair stylist and make-up artist right by the Duke Wall. I've been a client of S. Jolley since freshman year. When I first starting coming my hair was in terrible condition. She took time in the initial consultation to explain to me the necessary requirements it would take to get my hair healthy. I am now a Junior at Duke and I get compliments all the time about my hair. Some people even think I am wearing weave because it is so shiny, bouncy and because of the length. For the new freshman sistagirls you totally got to check Jolley out. I have looked all over for stylists who could take good care of my crazy ""mixed girl"" hair, and Studio One has always been my favorite place to go, in Durham or anywhere. I started going because it was close to my house and though I live further away now, I still go to Studio One. Lawrence is an excellent stylist, and always takes the time to get to know his clients and their hair. Jennifer and Sherrie are also great hair stylists. The atmosphere in Studio One is professional, yet relaxed and welcoming. It is also very clean and tidy, something I actually greatly appreciate! Make sure to book an appointment well in advance, and I would not advise going during busy times like around prom/holidays, as they get very busy and the wait time can be long. But they are very accommodating and will always try to find a time that fits your schedule. Plus, my hair always looks beautiful after a cut, perm or blowout at Studio One! I was so happy to find Studio One Hair Design. The ambience of the salon is calm and relaxing yet hip and fun. And of course, the stylists are wonderful! Lawrence is a great professional who took the time to learn what my hair was like, and a little history about my haircare. I especially appreciate that he chooses appropriate hair treatments specific to my needs. Lastly, the styles are appropriate for my face and not just the latest fads. While the salon is multicultural, I have to say, Black women if you're looking for a great cut, finally, Lawrence is the man! more
