Best. Salon. EVER!!! I'm from Vancouver BC and I used to spend upwards of $200+ to get my hair done at the top spas. And then I came to school at Western, so I decided I should get a local stylist...tried Studio Galactica after seeing an ad on a bulletin board, figured what have I got to lose? Man, I got the best hair I've ever had in my life for a fraction of the price! Daniella is my hairdresser now, I will come to see her for my hair even when I move back home. She introduced me to razor haircuts, which is precisely 1000X better than scissor cuts. She's awesome with cuts, colors...and eyebrows too! And so friendly! And they all refuse to take tips! Stop reading this and just go already. :o) more

I had a really great experience with the Studio Galactica. Deirdre was awesome. I wanted something crazy with my hair and she made it happened perfectly. Just the way I wanted it! I had her bleached and color my hair bright orange. She was so gentle working on my hair and scalp and the scalp massage at the end was a perfect touched. I highly recommend Studio Galactica to anyone. Price are affordable, No tipping, friendly people = Great hair and awesome experience! more

My hairstylist was fast and sloppy and did not give me uniform layers. It looked okay when I left the studio, but once I got home to get a close look at it, my layers were uneven-and she had even forgotten to layer some parts. Deirdre did not test out the length of my hair when finished, and I ended up having shorter layers on one side with longer layers on the other. I would definitely recommend this salon to a friend. Mandy cut my hair, did exactly what I asked for, was quick but not in a hurry, and was so easy to casually chat with. The price for a haircut was also really reasonable and I found the two girls I saw working there to be very down to earth and friendly. I had cash with me but seem to remember them not taking cards when I was there previously. I absolutely love that they are a no tipping salon because I hate giving tips out of obligation. Eliminating the whole tip-giving scenario makes my salon experience even more enjoyable. Having said that, I really have had a great experience there and that's why I'm writing this glowing review. It is well deserved. In addition, the location is easy to get to and there is plenty of street parking. I have been going to Mandy for six years and my husband has been going for two years. He swears Mandy gives him the best haircuts he has ever had. My husband and I are in our ""Golden Years"", so she can work her miracles for all ages and sexes. She listens and works with her clients to give them the service they want with her professional input and skill. She also cuts my daughter's hair and my granddaughters' hair, and we all look so much better after Mandy has worked her magic. I also like the no tipping. Very professional. Mandy at Studio Galactica is a very skilled hairdresser and stylist. She knows what she is doing, how to make your hair cooperate, how to help you style it in the future, and what looks good on you. The great reviews got me interested...and now I understand! I have very fine, thin, kind of curly hair and I have a heck of a time with it. I'm in my mid 30's and work in an office so I wanted something fashion forward with a little edge, yet still professional. Deirdre at Studio Galactica gave me the perfect cut and 3-color foil! I LOVE IT and so does everyone else I have run into today! Often I will go home after a cut and will have no idea how to duplicate the look the stylist gives me. This morning I was able to fix it like Deirdre-WOW! I have often heard that a really good cut is always easy to fix. I will be passing the word that this place rocks! I have been to a lot of salons--some quite upscale--with disappointing results and I have finally found my Bellingham stylist, Deirdre at Studio Galactica! Don't let the salon's eccentric, punky appearance scare you. I personally think the decor is fun, but some might be quick to label it as juvenile and a salon for emo-punk-rock youth only. In fact while I was there I saw 2 ladies in their 50's come in who were obviously regulars and they were somewhat conservative in appearance. Another unique thing about the salon is that they don't accept tips. You know exactly what you will pay when you choose your service. My studio galactica experience with Deirdre was amazing! I have had my hair cut and colored at many of the different upscale salons in bellingham and never have I had a better cut and color combination than with Deirdre! She listened to what I like, and helped make suggestions to get the look I am going for. I have never had a haircut grow out as well or gotten more complements on my color. I tend to change my hair ALOT. The girls at Studio Galactica are all very trendy and know what will look good on me. Very knowledgeable in color too, I have everything from pink and blue streaks as well as just brown highlights.
