Gross & Rude! 12/31/2009

As far as thinking these reviews were written by competitors...your wrong as far as mine is concerned. Our stay with Strawberry dog was bad from the start and after meeting the lady we gave our miniature schnauzer to, I wanted to take him back and run away but unfortunately we could not because our flight was early morning. We do not travel much so this was the very first time we have ever boarded period. WE WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN, especially with Strawberry Dog. When I made my reservation I spoke to a younger girl who told me I could bring my dog in as early as 5am. I thought that was funny too but it worked out perfect because we had an early flight. We showed up at 6:15am and were greeted in a very rude manner. The lady was smoking outside and as soon as I opened my door she said, ""We don't open until 7am."" So I said, ""Well, the person I talked to said we could be here as early as 5am."" Her response was so rude I was amazed. ""Well, I don't know who told you that!"" Then she acted like she was doing us a favor and said, ""But I will go ahead and take him in, though."" Still very rudely. My thought was...Oh well thank you so much for doing ME a favor when I was told the wrong thing over the phone. Our whole trip, I was so nervous but my husband kept assuring me he was going to be fine. Then when we picked him up he was covered in his own urine. Gross! At least I hope it was his own. My question is...would they let their own animals sit in their own urine? Probably not, so why did mine? We just picked him up 2 hours ago and I came straight home to bathe him. Health wise he seems fine, but that was absolutely disgusting. I think it is great that they do rescue work because I am a big advocate myself but if they don't have time to deal with the boarders because of it, then they shouldn't take on that responsibility! Pros: nothing Cons: Dog covered in urine! Employees rude! more

Avoid! 7/7/2008

First couple times went good. Then started noticing burn marks from the shaver, don't know about you but these are my kids.I have 4 Shitzu dogs that last time they were all seperated when was assured they would be kept together had shaver burns, it took the pups 3 or 4 days to get over that experience, my female has never showed that much fear of being in a place. So no never again will i bring them there, also those who read this, they do not interact with your dog even when you pay that lil extra for them to do so,that was spoken by a employee. Mans Best Friend on Louetta is awesome will continue with thier service. more

very good new groomer 11/21/2007

My past grooming experiences with this company have not been great. In fact I stopped going to this company until recently when I heard about their new groomer. This groomer was excellent! My dogs are not the easiest dogs to groom. This groomer was patient and sweet to them and I would recommend going to see Strawberry Dogs new groomer! You won't be disappointed. Pros: great new groomer Cons: past experiences with old groomer more

Horrible! Took a chunk out of my dog's skin with the clippers! 6/1/2007

First time I visited was ok. Easy to get appointment. 2nd time was HORRIBLE! \r \r I picked up my dog and the owner said they cut him with the clippers and glued the cut together. She said it wasn't that bad, that if they felt he needed stitches, they would have taken him to the vet. Since it was glued, I couldn't tell how bad it was until the next morning after he had licked it open. I took him to the vet and he got 5 stitches!\r \r I asked the vet if this is a common thing. They said it can happen to the best of groomers, but they do not see it very often (and they are connected to a groomer too). The vet assistant said even if a dog is heavily matted, if the groomer is careful, it's unlikely the dog would get cut. \r \r So in other words, knowing my dog was heavily matted, they still rushed and were careless enough to take a nickle size chunk out of his skin.\r \r The only positive thing I can say about the experience is that they are reimbursing the vet bill. I still have to deal with the damage and trying to restrict my dog from pulling the stitches. Not to mention, I don't know how my dog will react to grooming next time. I sure wouldn't want to be groomed again if I were him! Pros: easy to get an appointment Cons: careless staff - rushed clipping dog and cut him more
