Worst

My experiences of the park is land....lots of land with a bunch of over-priced mediocre activites. You already pay $10.00 just to get in (1 car). Then you pull out your wallet to ...

Best Family Outing Hands Down! 7/25/2002

I don't think there is a contest-- my 4 yr old was in heaven in the barn. There is plenty to do and at whatever pace makes you comfortable. The family will become regulars. more

The Rock 7/22/2002

We've stayed several times at the Evergreen and enjoyed each time. Lots to do and see. But, as a guest of the park and going to the laser show we had no seats. If you offered a rental or sold inexpensive cushions that would be great.( the ground is a little tuff on the rear. Pros: Clean, Friendly Personnel, Lots to Do Cons: more restrooms, Need tram or shuttle, cushion rentals? more

The Rock 7/21/2002

All around a great place to go alone, as a couple, with kids, or the enitire family. It's cheap and can take all day or just a couple of hours. more

Worth the trip 7/14/2002

This place is pretty close to Atlanta (15miles) and is definitely worth a half day visit. If you go after 4pm admission is only $11 including the skytram to the top. The mountain is impressive. The park at the bottom is marginal. The 3-D movie there is worth seeing. Small kids may like the other attractions. more

An Historic Fun Time 5/27/2002

Stone Mountain Park is a fun time for the entire family...and you can walk learn something at the same time. It is very relaxing and beautiful. You can take a ski-lift to the top of the mountain, take a ride on a river-boat, and a host of other events on the history Stone Mountain. They just built and opened a replica of an 1800's town with stores, restaurants, etc. Definitely take the river boat, the ski-lift, the museum, and the classic car museum. Avoid the train ride (it is awful and the teenager guides are annoying and provide no value whatsoever). There are walking/biking paths, lakes, and plenty to see an do. Very inexpensive to get in the park and equally inexpensive to get in to everything there. If you have family coming in from out of town, this is a great place to take them. Pros: Inexpensive, Tons to do and see, Educational Cons: A lot of walking, The Train from hades more

Definitely Worth the Visit 5/27/2002

We visited Stone Mountain Park this weekend. It was definitely worth the visit. Their newest attractions, Crossroads and the Great Barn, were particularly fun! Crossroads depicts a small town at the turn of the century. It resembles ""frontier town"" at the Magic Kingdom, but in a much smaller scale (of course!). You can find boutiques making everything from traditional candles to candy. Make sure to visit the 4-D theater and the new train station. The Great Barn is a large building where kids can have fun running around and collecting or throwing fruits at each other (Nerf balls). You can just pay the parking fee and enjoy the nature trails, hike Stone Mountain and seethe laser show at the end of the day. But if you are going to visit the attractions you might as well pay the all-inclusive flat fee and enjoy the day. Pros: Fun, family oriented, Lots to do in a day, Newest attractions Cons: Crowded on weekends more

Great view of the city 5/27/2002

Yes, it can be expensive and, yes, the crowds can be annoying sometimes, but Stone Mountain is worth a trip to a) see the carving of Davis, Lee, and Jackson b) experience the view of Atlanta from the top of the mountain and c) experince the pure Southern kitsch that is the laser show. Pros: Carving, Views, Laser show Cons: Crowds, Expensive more

Make the Hike 5/23/2002

If you're planning on visiting this popular tourist spot, wear some comfortable shoes and take the trail up the mountain. It's all uphill and little steep but still a relatively easy climb. (For folks who can't do the climb there is a tram.) The rest of park is a bit touristy and parts of it are cheesy, but if you go during the off-season, it makes for a very pleasant escape from the city. Pros: great day trip Cons: expensive more
