Stokes Auction

Whether you attend a monthly auction, held the 3rd Saturday of the month, or one of their off-site auctions you can be sure that it is well run with as much information as the auctioneer has been provided about any item being provided to sell, including information about any noted chips, cracks or if in working condition. You can find almost anything at the monthly sales and if that isn't enough auction for you, attend the various specialty sales they have both on and off-site. Just decide what your limit is and take a friend to help you decide on what you really want to buy and whether you can actually get it home or not, since you must take it home that day. It's a different experience going here. It's fun. Whenever I'm in the market for something, but don't want to pay retail for it, I go to the monthly auctions here. Fridays are the 'preview days' so one can see what's available. The auction itself is on Saturdays.There are separate auctions for autos, household, and 'handyman'. If interested in attending on Saturdays, stop at the caboose and pick up a number. The auctioneer is well known in his field and is just great. It's a trip listening to him and his auctioneering skills. I've seen great deals and I've seen bad ones. Just know how much you're willing to spend and the fair market value of the item beforehand. (I learned the hard way). :) They also sell food and beverage onsite. Auction days may be long.....The parking can be tricky. You better be a good parallel parker. I also know this to be a locally owned business who involves themselves in the community. Nice. more

Once a month at the big red barn, Stokes auctions off about one hundred cars a few boats. There is also a barn devoted to furniture and a miscellaneous junk room where you bid on an entire square of flooring and winner takes all. I have never actually won anything at the auction but have attended several times just to watch the entire process. I have also talked to many people who go to the auction every month. It is a neat place to take the kids and let them see how an auction really is and how fast that auctioneer can talk. more
