It was my first time and it was my LAST time. At first I was confident that I was taking my coats into an expert since this dry cleaner had been recommended by another business owner in the community. When I showed him the coats he checked the labels and said that they could dry clean them. So, I left my coats and went on my way.
The customer service was pleasant at first, but when I returned because one of the two coats had been faded out by the dry cleaning I was met with less than stellar customer service. I was questioned on how I store my coat, ""was it near a window because that can cause fading"", the answer: No. I store it in a closet with the other coat you dry cleaned at the same time. ""How does the other coat look""? Fine. (It is a light brown. The one that was ruined is black. Much more noticeable that it is faded.) Then I was asked ""Did you spill soda on it""? I don't drink soda I responded. There was a conference between the woman who had done the cleaning and the man who runs the counter. Again they looked at the label and the solution was that they would try again to dry clean it. So, I left it with them again.
When I came back the second time to pick up my coat I asked how it had turned out. I was met by the same man at the counter, but this time he was exceptionally rude and accusatory. His words to me were ""You told me it needed dry cleaning"" I tried to respond, but was cut off. When I tried to tell him that I saw him look at the labels and HE TOLD me they could dry clean them, he became confrontational and insisted that he had not looked at the labels and that the coat was machine wash and there was nothing he would do. I was told, ""it's yours take it"" At that moment his cell phone rang, he answered it and turned his back on me leaving me with my ruined coat.
What really bothered me was his attitude. His insistence (lie) that he HAD NOT looked at the labels, even though he did so on two different occasions, and accepted NO responsibility for the fading is enough to insure that I will not be going back to Stewart's French Dry Cleaners. There are other dry cleaners in Walla Walla and I will take my business elsewhere.
