Terrible in all ways. We made an appointment at 8am to have our car looked at and they didn't get to it for almost two days. My car was there for 4 days total for something that might have taken one day, if they didn't do it all at once. After all of that we had to come back in a week later for the same thing and they want to charge us for more work, even though they made the mistake in the first place. Not even worth one star. They are way overbooked and unapologetic about it. more

Recommend? Maybe... Steve is a great guy, super nice however after $1100 dollars, new parts that I DID NOT NEED, as the original parts were functioning perfectly, my vehicle still has the same problem and it will not be fixed properly after several attempts and returning it. If your vehicle has a VERY VERY COMMON, straight forward issue, Steves would be great. Oil changes, brakes, etc - go here, but if there is any other type of problem or *potential problem*, be sure to get a second opinion. I was asked by the service center, after they had changed out good parts and charged me for labor and parts...""who diagnosed the problem?""...that is a really good question, I thought that was the job of the service center, or better siad, YOUR JOB....that is why I brought my vehicle to you b/c you are a vehicle repair shop.... I will give this service center a good rating in the fact that they continued dialogue with me and gave what I feel was a good effort to fix the problem...ultimately though, they were unable to and attempted to charge me for further labor. more

I would wholeheartedly suggest to anyone, with any age car, get the services that Steve and his mechanic staff advise you to do. I am absolutely sure that your fuel economy will increase, and the life of your vehicle will be extended. more

Life Saver 4/26/2011

With only a few miles left on our big move day from California to Utah, the front end of our '89 Mazda gave out. We managed to roll into my daughter-and-son-in-law's appartment parking lot and that was it. Mazda wouldn't move. Called AAA. They towed me to Steve's Intermountain Service. Thought I was going to get hit up for serval hundred - if not a thousand or more - dollars in repairs because the right front portio of the car sounded as if something broke loose and did serious additional damage. Steve charged me $70. Said a bolt came loose and a part got stuck up against the wheel, no damage. I've been taking my cars to him ever since and he and his mechanics have done a lot of work on them (we keep our cars forever) for a very reasonable price. With a shop like Steve's, you don't have to buy a new car because he can fix them for a lot less than it would take to replace them. Highly recommended. Not the easiest place to find, but well worth the effort. He has a great little office, too, where you can plug in a laptop or netbook and get some work done while you wait. more

Best Service Anywhere 12/20/2010

This is the best mechanic I have EVER found and I have talked with a lot of people in his lobby that agree with me. He is fair, informative and way ahead of other shops. He is so ahead of the game with maintenance for your vehicle that other shops don't even know about the services he offers. That is because they aren't in the business of maintaining your vehicle and preventing major repairs down the road. He not only gives an understandable explanation when he talks to you about your car, he will put it all in writing and then back it up 100%. How many other shops do you know will do that? It's true that car's aren't exact science and so sometimes things won't get fixed the first time especially depending on the car and how well it's been maintained or how it was made. But that's the reality of cars and most things in life. And Steve will do everything he can to find and fix the problem as quickly as possible. Very friendly service, I've never been scammed and don't know of anyone who has. Steve always tries to make his customers happy even if they are in the wrong. Great place! I would definitely recommend to any and everyone!!!! more

Bad Experiences at Steve's! 5/4/2009

I am glad to see, after reading the previous reviews, that not everyone has had a bad experience with Steve's Intermountain. I, however, would not recommend this business to anybody. In the past 5 months my vehicle has been in and out of the shop 4 times. I do not exaggerate to say that I have not had my car for more than 2 days at a time before it won't start again! Each time Steve tells us its a totally different and unrelated issue. Yet, as time goes by, his words become hollower and hollower. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if he acknowledged the fact that it seems a bit fishy, since we never had problems with the car before and have always kept up on regular maintenance. I don't mean to suggest that Steve's is purposely conning me, but he doesn't seem to recognize the fact that he cannot seem to fix my car, and yet I continue to pour thousands of dollars into his company! A little sympathy, some assurance that they are NOT trying to dupe me, and some good old fashioned customer service would go a long way. My car is currently under his ""care"", but as soon as I get it back, I am done with this company. I would much rather find a business that can actually fix a car, but that also knows how to treat a customer! Cons: horrible customer service more

Best auto service 6/27/2008

These guys are very honest with you and very friendly. They will tell you exactly what you should do to make your car run longer, and it works. Steve sends out a newsletter every month and includes tips for taking care of the car. (And scorn for not taking care!) They believe firmly that a car should get at around 200,000 miles on the engine if you do what they say. My car is 15 years old with over 125,000 and is in great shape. Can't beat a $10 oil change 5/24/2006

First off you have to make an appointment, so it mostly depends which you prefer more, convenience or savings. For me the poor college student, I'll wait three days if it means I'll save $20. I don't know much about cars, but my car still works and I've been taking it to Steve for about a year. After the oil change Steve will kind of give you a list of all the things you should do for your car (other things that need to be fixed) and he'll even tell you which things are important and which things are just kind of ""if you get around to it"", and I definitely appreciate that there isn't any pressure to do them all. Bottom Line, it's a $10 oil change. I'll take it. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Cons: Appointment Necessary more
