No to Stevens Painting 11/25/2009

Do not use Stevens painting from Maryville, IL. I was quite disappointed. The quality of their work was not acceptable. The old color is still showing through in some areas and some of the trim was not even painted. They did not tape off my windows or light fixtures, and in fact, they got so much paint on my light fixtures that I ended up telling them to just paint the fixtures so that I would not have to replace them, which I had no plans to do. They oversprayed the roof, which looks horrible from the back. The windows have paint slopped on the glass, and on top of that, none of my windows will open now. The black weather-stripping around my newly installed French doors have paint swipes and paint mess all over them. They apparently did not bother to lay tarps down as they dripped paint all over the place and got overspray all over my newly sanded and stained deck, which I made sure to ask them to be careful around. They even got overspray on my grill cover, pottery, and my decorative yard bricks. They got so much overspray on my newly stained deck that I now have to resand my entire deck and restain it, which will be costly. I was very patient and understanding, calling them periodically to ask when I could expect them to come out, but, Amy kept promising that she did not forget me and promised to come back to fix the issues, but, she just kept making excuse after excuse and in five months they still has not showed back up to fix the problems. I kept calling, she stopped returning my calls, and even blocked my cell phone from her cell phone. Never use Stevens painting from Maryville, Illinois! Pros: Fast Cons: Sloppy work more

FORMERLY A REPUTABLE BUSINESS WITH HIGH ETHICS 1/21/2009

Steven's Painting used to be a reputable business with high integrity but I would not recommend them to anyone after the experience that I have recently had with them. In June of 2008 one of their employees was was supposed to be painting in my home; but they stole jewelry and cash valued at over $2100.00 and Steven's REFUSES to file an insurance claim for my losses. Their employee was arrested and has to pay restitution for the crime and Steven's feels that they should not have to file a claim and/or pay me back for my losses as a result of this. This employee has never paid back a penny towards this "restitution" which means that IF she makes the scheduled payments of $40 a month it will take over 5 years for me to be re-paid. Why should I have to wait 5 years to replace my jewelry that was stolen in a day? When Steven's came to my home, I didn't wait 5 years to pay them - they were paid immediately. They claim to be insured and bonded. Isn't that what a business is supposed to do when something like this happens to one of their clients/customers? Aren't they supposed to file a claim and reimburse their customer for the damages that they incurred as a result of one of their employees? Steven's PROMISED that they would help me and PROMISED that they would reimburse me and take care of this. They never did. They also told me that they would paint my garage for all of the problems that happened and they never came back and painted my garage. I have used this company for several painting jobs in my home and was always satisfied with their work, but after the way that I have been treated during this situation I would NOT recommend them to anyone.
