My Escrow Experience 12/3/2010

As licensed realtor for over ten years, I give my thumbs up to Sterling. Not, only was she friendly to my clients, but pro-active in helping my transaction close on time. I find it hard to believe the negative comments here are legitimate. Either is is a competitor, an angry ex-employee, or unreasonable client. Or, simply a troll. more

LIARS, LIARS, LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/20/2008

THIS IS THE WORST ESCROW COMPANY IN TOWN!! DID NOT RECORD DEED. WE THOUGHT THEY DID BUT COME TO FIND OUT 3 MONTHS LATER IT WAS NEVER DONE. WE BOUGHT A FORECLOSURE AND THEY DID NOT PAY THE OUTSTANDING PENALTITIES FROM THE HOA'S, SO NOW WE HAVE A LIEN ON OUR HOME. NOW HAVE AN ATTORNEY AND ARE SUING STERLING ESCROW FOR THE FEES. EVERY TIME IN THE PAST WE HAVE BOUGHT A HOME, 5, NOTHING BUT PERFECTION FROM EQUITY TITLE AND ESCROW, THIS WAS ANS STILL IS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE!! REPORTED THEM TO THE STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL OFFICE AND THE STATE OFFICE OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, THEY WILL NOT BE OUT OF BUSINESS SOON ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: TOO MANY!!!! more

Awful! The worst experience in all my purchases. 8/12/2008

Where to begin. \r 1. Wouldn't provide my lender with information for weeks, when requested. \r 2. Would provide accurate account of funds at closing. Used an excel spread sheet, not the county required documents. \r 3. Wouldn't respond to emails for days. \r 4. Told me (Gerry Barry) she doesn't have time to read emails, but WOULDN'T CONTACT HER TITLE DEPT FOR RECORDING INSTRUCTIONS BY PHONE--ONLY EMAIL!\r 5. Didn't pay the hazard insurance for 6 weeks after close, even when provided with an invoice by me at signing time.\r \r \r I have purchased 23 properties over the last 14 years. Never have I had such an awful experience. \r \r I have not confidence in this company. And am writing a formal complaint to the insurance board because of some SERIOUS issues that I have not address in this review.\r \r BEWARE! DO ANYTHING TO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! \r \r IF YOU USE THEM YOU WILL BE SORRY! Pros: I had my doubts, but we finally recorded once I personally called her title department for release to record. Cons: TOO NUMEROUS TO LIST. HUGE OVERCHARGES. BE WARNED! more

100% Satisfied with the service I received from Sterling Escrow 7/31/2008

I have been using Sterling Escrow for 12 years now, and not once did they not meet my obligations and time frames. I'm not sure why anyone would slander Gerry such as the comments below. I'll admit she is very busy now with all the real estate flooding the market, but I assure you she does not drag her feet when it comes to my escrows accounts. She has always treated me with the utmost respect.....and has excellent communication skills, and stays in touch with me all time. In fact, my last visit with Gerry, she introduced me to her New Foreclosure Officer, (she just hired), with 24 years of experience, to expedite the process even more. There are a lot of Title company's in Las Vegas, and one by one are folding up. But Sterling Escrow is still there.... doing what they do best. Keep up the good work Sterling..... you will always have my business! Thank you again Sterling - you earned your 5 STARS Pros: Thumbs UP to the Staff - They are always eager and willing to help me......and answers all my questions in a perfessional manner Cons: I wish they had more offices - I have to drive 23 one way to get there, but it's worth it to get the service they offer. more

AVOID THIS PLACE. THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER CAN'T EVEN FIND THAT THEY ARE LICENSED TO DO BUSINESS! THERE IS NOTHING ON GERRY BARRY OR STERLING ESCROW! \r \r OVER CHARGES, INCORRECT DOCUMENTS, DEEDS TYPED WRONG, THEY DIDN'T SIGN THEIR ESCROW DOCUMENTS. IT TOO 3 WEEKS TO GET WIRE INSTRUCTIONS. GERRY'S RESPONSE--IT DIDN'T HOLD ANYTHING UP! IT HELD UP OUR DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE, WE COULD GET THE DOCUMENTATION COMPLETED UNTIL WE HAD WIRE INSTRUCTIONS! AWFUL, AWFUL! \r \r MY LOAN OFFICER WITH 18 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN LAS VEGAS HAS NEVER SEEN WORSE. \r \r CALL THE INSURANCE COMMISSIONER, I DON'T BELIEVE THEY ARE LICENSED. Worst Escrow/Title Company to deal with 5/27/2008

Funny how I go to this site to find the phone number and I see the above rating and it is exactly how I feel. I too bought a home at auction and had no choice but to use this company. I have lived in vegas my whole life and have also purchased homes and know what the process should be like and this was not at all normal. I agree that the loan officer and the sellers realtor both said this is the worst title company they have ever worked with in their carreers. This company blatantly lied, hung up the phone, and overcharged us and held up the closing of the sale for 7 business days. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO AVOID THIS PLACE !!! more

WORST TITLE COMPANY EVER 5/15/2008

In my 15 years of living in Las Vegas, I have only purchased three houses. So I don't claim to have a lot of experience with title companies. But when my realtor, my loan officer, and the sellers realtor all say this is the worst title company they have ever worked with in their carreers, I have to believe them.\r This company blatantly lied, hung up the phone, and overcharged us. \r The reason we used this company is because we purchased a forclosed house and the bank required that they choose the title company.\r DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO AVOID THIS PLACE !!! more
