The Best Veterinarian in Town! 1/4/2012

If you would like your pet to have the best veterinary care available, then you must take take them to Stenner Creek Animal Hospital. Dr. Mark O'Reilly, and staff, are the most dedicated and skilled staff around. I have taken my pets to Dr. Reilly for over 30 years and would not think of seeing anyone else. Dr. O'Reilly was always been scholastically top in his class in school. He is the most dedicated and skilled veterinarian in the entire SLO County. Pros: null Cons: null more

Dr. O'Reilly is a mirracle worker 1/4/2012

Dr. O'Reilly diagnosed our dog with cancer which then incurred complications which required an emergency tracheotomy on her. After nurturing her back to health and then making the tracheotomy permanent, our beloved dog lived a joyous SEVEN more years. This may even be a national record because other vets have been amazed how this little furry bundle of joy could live so long with a tracheotomy. It was only possible by Dr. O'Reilly's dedication to our dogs health and going beyond the call of duty on week ends, nights, personally driving her to Davis Veterinary clinic... the list goes on and on. I can not say enough about Dr. O'Reilly whose perception of animals and intuitive mastery of medicine makes me wish I could find such competence in doctors for MYSELF. Now after a glorious 15 year life of our previous dog, I would not consider any other Vet. to take care of our new little princesses... yes now we have two little girls, and only the best will do for them. Pros: null Cons: null more

Money Over Care, Chose Another Vet! 11/5/2011

IF YOU WANT A VET WHO PUTS CARE FIRST, DO NOT USE THIS VET! We took our healthy 20-week-old kitten to Stenner Creek Animal Hospital to be neutered. The following days he seemed off. He displayed a lack of appetite, thirst and energy. This worsened and he felt hot and began to shiver. We took him back the office for a follow up. Before the Dr. came into the room to exam the kitten, one of his office staff (RVT Erin) queried us on ""how much could we pay today"". I asked, ""How much could we be looking at?"" Rather than answer my question she asked her question again. I gave a figure and stated that this was inappropriate timing for this conversation. I felt at the time if I had said $500, his procedure would cost $500; if I had said $700, our cost would have been $700. The Dr. Examined the kitten and his diagnosis was that our kitten was bitten by our other kitten from the same litter and has an infection. The best course of action would be to give him an antibiotic via injection and to give him subcutaneous fluids. Afterwards the Dr. said if he is not getting better in 36 hours to call him right away. He did not get better; we called to arrange a follow up. The Drs. RVT ""Erin"" told us that the Dr. would not see our kitten until our balance was paid. She was rude to my wife and to me. Anytime we tried to ask a question she would interrupt and talk over us. My wife and I tried to have a rational conversation with this woman, however she just would not allow that to be. We asked to speak to the Dr. that was not an option; we inquired if she was the office manager, she replied more

Dr O'Reilly is a liar and cheat 8/26/2011

My regular vet was out of town when my 8 year old cat became sick (on a Friday). This cat tested positive for feline leukemia when a kitten, life expectancy 2-3 years. So i gave her the best food etc. & she was 8 before becoming sick. I told O'Reilly she was leukemia positive & he said problem could be a blood parasite, 50-50 chance, & needed to keep her over the weekend for tests on Monday to determine if it was the parasite. A LIE! Blood tests that day show no parasite - he told me this the next day! She died next day in their hands being tortured with force feeding. He LIED about the chances of a parasite, he LIED about needing further testing to make himself money! MY poor kitty could have died at home instead tortured by strangers. It's all about money for O'Reilly. more

Horrible and rude 7/20/2010

We took our dog here because we were traveling through SLO and needed a quick place to see our dog. $600 later, the vet did all these tests. We waited, and waited to hear the results. I called the office, and they said they had the tests back, but the doctor didn't have time to look at them yet. Pros: They got us in right away Cons: Rude, expensive, made us WAIT and WAIT more

Do not take your animal here 4/26/2008

the vet at this hospital is very nice, but the workers he hires are slightly rude. It is not every member of the staff but there are a certain few. I felt as though they were talking down to me, and did not seem to know how to work with people or the animals for that matter. They did not seem to know how to handle my cat as she almost fell off the exam table. The prices are also high, and I no longer take my cat here. more

Very personal environment and great staff 4/2/2008

I would recommend this veterinary clinic to everybody. We try to get everything done here, and love every aspect of it. The staff are kind and personal, they remember our pets, listen to our concerns, and try to ease their pain as much as possible. We had our cat's surgery done there, and they followed through on the uptake, clear instructions, etc. etc. etc. They were also kind when doing the rabies shot for our dog. Pros: parking, service, not very busy, staff is very personal Cons: further away than other hospitals more
