Best Coffee in Madison 4/28/2010

I'm a big fan of Madison, Wisc, and try to travel there as much as possible each spring and summer. This small but interesting cafe provides for a great atmosphere, as well as serves very good coffee. I wasn't impressed with the coffee at our hotel, and made the pilgrimage to Steep & Brew each morning for a cup of Joe. I also like that there is outdoor seating available, which can be fun during the summer months. more

Steep & Brew 4/15/2006

I'm a little bit biased by the fact that I know most of the staff at Steep & Brew. That said, it's still my favorite coffee shop on State Street. I can't honestly say they offer anything in particular that you wouldn't find at Fair Trade or ERC or whatever. However, the atmosphere is nice, the clientele is colorful, and the staff (even the ones I don't know) is talkative and friendly. My drink is straight-up black coffee, so coffee houses have to win me based on quality of environment, not specialty drinks and etc. Steep & Brew definitely wins on that point. more
