THIS SALON IS A VISUAL NIGHTMARE. Clients are greeted at the door by floor to ceiling shelves of product, it is like the COSTCO of hair and skin essentials (as a matter of fact, the brand of hair product sold can be purchased at Target, Meijer, WalMArt, etc...). The reception desk is 20 feet from the entrance and the one, yes one, receptionist is always in the room behind the desk (need to make noise or say something to be acknowledged). No fixtures in the salon match - flooring, cabinets, and strange stone pillars are not in the same color pallete. The station mirrors are so small and low you cannot see what the stylist is doing - if you ask for a hand-mirror to view the back of your head you cannot see unless sitting or squating down. Some cabinets have openings for panes of glass, but there is no glass, so all the product stacked/thrown-in the cabinet is visible to the clientele. Not all stations are cleaned in-between clients - hair not swept, scissors/combs/towels left on cabinet tops, etc. \r
THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNACCEPTABLE. Apparently, there is only one person who answers the phone. If you call and this one person is on the phone, you need to leave a message and hope for a returned call. The prices quoted over the phone are not correct (much lower than the actual cost of services). The owner's husband freely walks in and out of the salon, speaking loudly with the employees and using colorful words to describe his duties (the sister salon, Inspire, is much smaller and when he is sharing stories with the receptionist, every descriptive word can be heard...). \r
THERE IS NO PRIVACY IN THE SALON. Stylists are trained (aka - people standing around watching the owner cut someone's hair), on the salon floor and during business hours - the salon is not large, if several people are training this takes-up quite a bit of space and their chatter can be distracting. Stylists mix color, wash color bowls & brushes, practice color and cuts on styrofoam heads, and wax client facial hair in view of all clientele.\r
THE SPA IS SURPRISINGLY WONDERFUL. Although in the same building (when entering the estabishment and passing the miriad of product, the salon is to the left, the spa is to the right), the spa is behind a locked door and not visible from the salon. Immediately inside the spa, are relaxing smells and soft soothing sounds. Warm robes, soft slippers, cucumber water and full-body massage chairs are yours to enjoy before and after your individual services. Everything about the spa is something to be enjoyed over and over again. \r
LAUREN IS AMAZING. The one and only reason I return to the salon, is because Lauren is an incredible stylist. Aside from knowing the how and why of cut, color and style, her personality is beyond lovely and her professionalism is impeccable. \r
