THIS SALON IS A VISUAL NIGHTMARE. Clients are greeted at the door by floor to ceiling shelves of product, it is like the COSTCO of hair and skin essentials (as a matter of fact, the brand of hair product sold can be purchased at Target, Meijer, WalMArt, etc...). The reception desk is 20 feet from the entrance and the one, yes one, receptionist is always in the room behind the desk (need to make noise or say something to be acknowledged). No fixtures in the salon match - flooring, cabinets, and strange stone pillars are not in the same color pallete. The station mirrors are so small and low you cannot see what the stylist is doing - if you ask for a hand-mirror to view the back of your head you cannot see unless sitting or squating down. Some cabinets have openings for panes of glass, but there is no glass, so all the product stacked/thrown-in the cabinet is visible to the clientele. Not all stations are cleaned in-between clients - hair not swept, scissors/combs/towels left on cabinet tops, etc. \r THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNACCEPTABLE. Apparently, there is only one person who answers the phone. If you call and this one person is on the phone, you need to leave a message and hope for a returned call. The prices quoted over the phone are not correct (much lower than the actual cost of services). The owner's husband freely walks in and out of the salon, speaking loudly with the employees and using colorful words to describe his duties (the sister salon, Inspire, is much smaller and when he is sharing stories with the receptionist, every descriptive word can be heard...). \r THERE IS NO PRIVACY IN THE SALON. Stylists are trained (aka - people standing around watching the owner cut someone's hair), on the salon floor and during business hours - the salon is not large, if several people are training this takes-up quite a bit of space and their chatter can be distracting. Stylists mix color, wash color bowls & brushes, practice color and cuts on styrofoam heads, and wax client facial hair in view of all clientele.\r THE SPA IS SURPRISINGLY WONDERFUL. Although in the same building (when entering the estabishment and passing the miriad of product, the salon is to the left, the spa is to the right), the spa is behind a locked door and not visible from the salon. Immediately inside the spa, are relaxing smells and soft soothing sounds. Warm robes, soft slippers, cucumber water and full-body massage chairs are yours to enjoy before and after your individual services. Everything about the spa is something to be enjoyed over and over again. \r LAUREN IS AMAZING. The one and only reason I return to the salon, is because Lauren is an incredible stylist. Aside from knowing the how and why of cut, color and style, her personality is beyond lovely and her professionalism is impeccable. \r \r more

I very much enjoy the services I receive at State of Mind which include: massage therapy, pedicures, manicures, and brow waxes. The staff is wonderful! I am always greeted with a smile from the front desk, which carries through to the direct service providers. Deborah (who was a delight) was my first point of contact at the spa and since, I've enjoyed wonderful services with Pam, Lauren and Kelly. I enjoy my pedicures and massages so much that I've introduced my husband to the spa services as well. I intend to continue with my pedicure and massage packages as they've become essential to my well-being. more

Very overpriced! 4/8/2011

I had set up an appointment after speaking to the receptionist on the phone and her telling me a price range for the services I was getting done. My hair is not at all what I had told the girl I wanted. I was never told that getting my hair dried would be an additional cost. I feel after a color service you would automatically dry it to see the end result. I was charged for services I never was even asked about. Please beware when getting your hair done at this salon for a color and blow dry it will run you $150 .00. more

Oh, how I loved being pampered like this!! 1/24/2011

I was fortunate enough to have the time on my recent visit from Florida to Indiana to visit the State of Mind Salon & Day Spa, It was VERY cold outside but beautiful, warm and serene & friendly inside! I was taken aback by the beautiful building, both inside and out. One of the young ladies at the front desk happily gave me a tour and I knew right then and there that I was in for a wonderful experience! What a beautiful, comfortable and relaxing place to be! I first thought that from the amount of cars in the parking lot (which was full!!) that I would be doing a lot of time hanging around and just waiting ~ but that was not the case at all, the waiting time in between services was short and comfortable, I was provided with a warm herbal neck wrap and chai tea, water w/lemon & mints ~ now that is my kind of pampering! I had the lunch, facial, haircut & pedicure. I really did appreciate the fact that these young women were professionals ~ they were very happy with their jobs and their professions and it showed. They actually took the time to ask me questions so they could make an informed decision as to the products and process they would use ~ I’ve never experienced this before! Thank you so very much ladies for a wonderful afternoon! I will certainly make it a priority to visit you the next time I am in the area! Jennice, Healing Touch Herbals. more

Wonderful spa experience! 1/23/2011

I recently visited State of Mind Salon with a girlfriend. I had a pedicure and a facial. I can't say enough about how friendly and professional the staff are. They truly cater to your every need while you are there, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. I can honestly say it is a unique experience that you will not find at another spa. Jan did my facial and my skin was glowing after, she was just so good. Beth did my pedicure and it was also exceptional. I would highly recommend this salon and I can't wait to go again! more

Highly recommended, I love this day spa! 12/7/2010

I have had mani and pedi's and massages, and every single time my experience is wonderful. I love this spa. My husband and I make a day out of it, while he gets his hair cut I am busy getting my own pampering done for myself! I am shocked to even see negative reviews about this company, they are o-u-t-s-t-a-n-d-i-n-g and I highly recommend this to anyone. more

State of Mind Salon & Day Spa is AMAZING!! 1/15/2010

I have been going to State of Mind for a few years now & absolutely love it!! I go for massages with Crystal often, usually every month & she is the best! I've had facials, massages, haircuts, updos (Danielle is awesome!). I even had my sister's bachelorette spa party there & everyone loved it!! I'm actually surprised to read any negative reviews about this place. I've had nothing but great experiences. The day spa can get a little pricey but it is well worth it & is actually comparable in price to other spas in the area. I encourage readers to try it out for themselves because I'm confident you will have a great experience too! Pros: relaxing environment, nice staff, BEST day spa & Hairstylist Cons: None! more
