My mother's assisted living facility used these people for her mamogram. When I called to have the film sent to the surgeon they gave me a hard time and said only the ordering physician can do this. I'm in the business and know that Congress passed a law over twenty years ago allowing patients to have access to their records and to authorize where the records can be sent. Since I have both Power of Attorney and a Healthcare Proxy for my mother I made that request. They were rude and condescending, and quite honestly sounded like I was calling a phone bank in the Philippines. After a while I called the supervisor a ... because he would not give me anyone in charge. He then said he was in charge, so I asked for his name so I can include it in a letter of complaint. It was only then that he brought up what I called him and hung up on me. They refused. BTW, when the technician did the x-ray she told me mother there was nothing there, but when the doc saw the film it turned out to be a 3cm mass. Not very professional at all. I have since called the assisted living and their nursing office told me that they hate STAT X-ray also and only used them because the supervisor had a friend there, but they got so many complaints that they have since switched to specialty X-Ray. BTW, I called Specialty X-Ray (because they did my mothers chest x-ray as a follow-up) and they were the exact opposite of STAT. They were polite and emailed the images to my mothers surgeon within minutes. If you need portable X-ray services, be sure to insist on Specialty and avoid STAT as all costs.
