I didn't fish the ""No Problem"" but ran into guys that did and their experience mirrored ours...so I recommended them here as well. more

Just returned from Maui, that included a 9-hour charter on the ""Action"". A boat, crew, and approach to fishing that I would highly recommend. more

When reviewing a fishing charter one should always remember that it's fishing not catching. I went out on the 8 hour trip and our boat left late due to one of the fishermen and not because of the charter. My captain was Danny and the deckhand was Josh. Both did a fantastic job and although we did not catch fish it wasn't for lack of trying. Josh recommended I try the 9 hour trip, it leaves the dock at 2:30 am. I booked the trip for Saturday, the captain for this trip was Jason and the deckhand was Johnny, we left the dock on time and we motored 40 miles to a buoy south of Maui. We started fishing before daylight and quickly had 4 tuna on board, they were around 10 – 15lbs. Then the bite slowed down and Johnny told us that we were going to reel up and motor to another buoy about 10 miles west. When we got to the buoy we were the only boat there. Johnny dropped the first line in the water and before it was down 20 feet there was a fish on. While one guy was fighting the fish Johnny dropped another line down and a fish hit immediately. I fought that fish and Johnny dropped another line and another fish, and another line and another fish. The Tuna were biting on everything, the next two hours were frantic as we fought 4 fish at a time, and as soon as one was landed another was on. We ran out of bait and started using pieces and scraps of old bait and when we ran out of that we threw squids in the water. At last we no longer had any room for more fish and had to call it quits.\r 6 fishermen, 41 tuna, 2 hours and back at the dock at 11:30. The biggest fish was 46 (mine). Would love to upload pics but I don’t see a way to do that. So the rating is all 5’s and not because of the second trip but because they are great people, care about you enjoying your trip, try hard to catch fish and will do anything to make the trip enjoyable. Fish or no fish, Start Me Up will be my charter of choice and I will recommend them to everyone. more

When you charter a deep sea fishing boat there are things that can guaranteed and things can be not. Among those that can are safety, clean boat, friendly and knowledgeable crew; and among those that cannot are weather and actually catching fish. Start Me Up delivered on ALL! more

Myself and my two nephews booked the nine hour trip with Capt Yuka and First Mate Ryan aboard the Action. Boat was ready to go as soon as we arrived, including live bait that the crew had caught earlier that morning. We arrived at the first fishing spot just before daybreak and had our first fish aboard shortly thereafter. We ended the day with eight nice Mahi Mahi including a 30 pound brute. When we returned to land, Capt Yuka provided us with all the fish we asked for which was enough to feed our group of 12. The crew was friendly, informative, entertaining and most of all hard working. The entire trip they worked their tails off to put us on fish, changing out bait, lures or trying different techniques each time there was a lull. The boat was clean and equipment in good working order. I would go out with these guys anytime and would recommend them to my friends. more

Start Me Up is the premier fishing expedition on Maui. They know their stuff and enjoy taking you out for the day. I was with my wife, son and daughter in law for a half day charter and we had an amazing trip. No fish, unfortunately, but that is the first time in 7 charters that we were skunked. We still really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to get out with the crew again. Captain Craig did a terrific job. more

I have been to Maui a few times now, but this was my first experience with a sport fishing company. I have to say that the crew at ""start me up"" really made the experience wonderful. Right off the get go, the booking was easy and very accommodating (considering we booked the morning of).\r \r Upon arrival, the crew that took us (Cpt. ""Timster"" and 1st ofc. Chris) met us right at the slip and introduced themselves right away. They were very informative and honest about how the quality of the fishing has been recently and broke down the game plan for us as to where we were going to better our odds of catching something. I have to say these guys were very friendly and knowledgeable. And wouldn't you know it, we caught a couple Ono's too!\r \r I have to say that this is a great company to get involved with if you are looking to get your feet wet at an affordable price. I would definitely come back the next time I'm here without hesitation. more

Craig and Johnny were a great pair to have on the boat with us. They were friendly and conversational. We could tell they had a lot of love for what they do. They work hard to make sure the trip is as successful as possible - they even stayed out on the water an extra hour so the could get a catch for each of the guys on the boat.\r \r They pointed out different sights along the way and found us a huge group of dolphins to get pictures and video of. They make you feel at home on the boat and ensure that everything about the trip is safe from beginning to end.\r \r We will use them again next time we are in Maui! more

This was my third time deep sea fishing, and my first time in Maui. The experience was excellent from talking to and signing up with Deli and Johnny at the counter, to Brandon and Brandon ( not brothers) our crew on the boat, who tried and tried to get us on fish. Although there were no fish caught, the crew did everything they could. This is not the first time I've been skunked and it won't be the last. I would recommend Start Me Up to anyone wanting to go fishing in Maui.\r Thanks guys more

We took the 4 hour trip. Within 20 minutes of leaving the harbor we hooked up with an Ono so hopes were high for a big day. We caught a mahi mahi and hooked up with an 8 foot shark that broke the rod. It was exciting! Steve and Josh were great and really tried hard to make it a fun day of fishing. It really doesn't get much better than being out on the ocean in Maui. We left with fresh mahi filets which were great for dinner. Great day! more

My husband and father went on an 8 hour private charter with zack and capt Jason. Both were great guys and guides. They had a great time and caught 3 MahiMahi! Our only hitch was the booking with Casey over the phone but once they showed up on the docks all was good to go. more
