starbucks's primary contribution is definitley its convenience. i just think its a bit unoriginal and not quite as charming as some smaller, locally owned and managed stores.

Great service, tasty vanilla lattes! 3/8/2010

I felt I had to write a review about this location after reading seeing all the bad reviews this place got. I come here every week, sometimes 2-3 times a week and have never had a bad experience! The staff is always friendly and smiling and the drinks they make are up to my high standards. I will definitely be coming back! Pros: great downtown location Cons: no drive through :( more

Worst Starbucks in town! 1/21/2010

Everytime I have visited this location, the service has been terrible, the baristas have been less than friendly and stand-offish, and I leave feeling frustrated everytime. Neddless to say, that will be the last time I go there. Cons: Rude baristas, bad service more

I give this starbucks one star because I had to in order for this to get published! I work downtown and every single time I go in there I have a bad experience because of RUDE people working behind the bar. Needless to say, I'm done buying coffee at that location. more

I love starbucks its amazing literally I live there and its amazing I havent had it in a while but if you go you should get a frapachino because they are delish. Also the double chocolate chip (java chip) is the best well my Fav.there are many others like pumkin,berry,ect. also for you little kids who you might not want to give coffee to they have hot coca it is the best they add whip cream and chocolate mmmm its alos delish.I give starbucks a 5 because of its amazing coffee!!!!!!If you have to go anywhere for coffee go to starbucks there are many aroung to there is one in lakeway,one near lakeline mall,and more!!!! more

Cruel to the Homeless 8/22/2008

I sometimes wonder what has happened to compassion. As I was standing in line I noticed a young homeless guy walk in. He appeared to be in heat distress. His face was bright red and he appeared disoriented. He remained next to the front door as if needing to cool down for a few minutes. A male employee immediately yelled at him to leave. I explained that the poor guy just needed to cool down for a few minutes. I was told that they'd had issues with the guy before. Regardless, the situation should have been handled more tactlfully, with the employee quietly escorting the guy out. I walked out without ordering, not wishing to give this establishment my money. I will never set foot in this Starbucks again. more

Folks, I'm FROM Seattle and anyone with taste or a sense of ethics goes to the best LOCAL coffee house. The ONLY thing Starbucks offers is a clean and comfortable place to sit, and consistent service. It is not strong, it is BURNT. It is THE McDonald's of coffee. I grew up here in town and had the required snob personality that everything local was best. I never went into Starbucks until I began working there. While Starbucks may not have the advantage of local flavor and personality, they definitely make up for it in the quality of their beans, drip coffee, and espresso drinks. And most importantly, they treat their employees with respect and great benefits. And you don't have to worry about getting snobbed by a cooler-than-thou-attitude hipster. Starbucks' success is testament to our herd mentality's dominance over our tatses and common sense. The coffee is TERRIBLE, the stores are usually very dirty (unless they're brand new, of course), and the prices are outrageous for what you get (I'd expect to keep the spoon for those prices). Usually the customer service is pretty good. Unfortunately, even if you have a great experience with your server, you then have to turn around and deal with the idots around you...of course, if you're going to Starbucks, you may just fit in with the idiots. Go local. There are so many cooler places to go than Starbucks. more

starbucks is just a place for wanna-be's who think they are ""hip"" by frequenting a coffee house....truth be told, starbucks is the silliest excuse for a coffee house i have seen. austin is full of wonderful coffee houses and i cannot see how people choose starbucks over them...it makes no sense. i blame it on the suburban pop princes and princesses that now are overrunning this town...its a sad day in austin when starbucks wins the title of ""second best coffee"".... more

I strongly dissagree that starbucks coffee should recieve a the second best rating for austin's coffee houses. austin is a city full of wonderful, eclectic businesses that give the city its appeal. no way does starbucks serve the 2nd best coffee or come close to the quirky settings of the many wonderful, small business coffee houses in austin. Good Joe? Buy local. 11/13/2002

My only consolation in buying Starbucks products is that they pay fair market prices for their beans. But beyond that, I can't see why any upstanding Austinite or serious coffee drinker would patronize this business. Their brew methods are limited, the coffee is weak, and they serve it in a paper cup, even if it's not ""to go!"" My advice? Buy local. Some people just dont know how hard it is working in a starbucks. Form intensive classroom training to rembering every single recipe that there is. Star bucks may be a coporation but they are the best that is around. Pros: drive through, small enough to know more
