I like to get take out. The food is 11/26/2011

I like to get take out. The food is good, I look forward to it and am never disappointed. I don't feel that it it the BEST indian food in the area, nevertheless I keep coming back. I always get the same thing, chicken tikka masala, chole, pakora. more

AWFUL 5/12/2010

After ordering/eating six different dishes, three breads and Samosas, from Star of India I think i can sum up the restaurant in three words: DO NOT GO, This was the worst Indian food I have ever eaten. I ordered Six different dishes, three breads and Samosas. The dishes were awful, greasy, and tasteless; the breads were flat, tasteless and dry; the Samosas were the WORST. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I would not walk through the doors of their restaurant again. The bummer was, I had eleven people for a birthday dinner, two had never had Indian food before, and this restaurant did not provide the experience of dining I was looking for. Keep driving and do not enter. Pros: Nothing, save money by going to a different restarunt Cons: BAD FOOD more

Just not good enough 1/11/2007

Star of India is just not that good. Every time I go in, I get the sense that nobody really cares - about anything. The servers are indifferent, the decor is bland, the prices are cheap - but alas, you get what you pay for. The food all tastes the same - literally, the palak paneer tastes more or less the same as the malai kofta, etc. Indian food should be complex and offer little surprises in your mouth. This food just doesn't - never has, probably never will. A disappointment. more

Very quiet 12/8/2006

I really like it here. Get the curry or butter chicken and we definitely recommend the coconut/pineapple bread. Food is not spectacular but the service and ambience is very peaceful. more

Fine food at a reasonable cost. 6/26/2006

Well prepared and tasty. Service is good, food excellent, though not fancy. A place those not familiar with Indian food can feel welcomed Pros: Lunch buffet is limited but good. appetizer plate a must more

Bland-and-blah buffet 5/6/2006

Assuming I was going to have the buffet, the waiter did not bring a menu until I asked for one. After a quick glance, I opted for the buffet ($6.95), which fortunately had many vegetarian options. However, the palak paneer (usually my favorite) was sadly lacking; the cheese was sparse and cut in tiny slivers, and the spinach base was weak and thin. The ""naan"" was plain pita. Everything else was also bland and watered-down. The cloth tablecloths were covered with paper placemats. Additionally, the staff never took their eyes off my non-eating friend, as if she were going to steal some buffet food from my plate, and their constant stares made her uncomfortable. If you want good Indian food, see what other options exist before you go here! Cons: blah food more

Bland Indian Food? 10/6/2005

Although it will do in a pinch, the food here just doesn't have that complex, delicious spicey flavor of most Indian food. The nan is slightly sweet, and the sauces are often bland and soupy. The one exception are the somosas, which are crisp and flavorful. They also have a lot of vegetarian options. Pros: vegetarian options Cons: bland sauces, no vegetable pakora more
