As a little girl, my mother used to take me to Star on a regular basis, so I was very excited to see that they were re-opening. We went in on a Saturday around 11 a.m. and were told that we would have to wait as they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch. Odd, because there were only about 4 other tables but, nonetheless, we waited...........About 10 minutes later, our server came back to get a drink order. Two iced teas, simple enough. After waiting 25 minutes for our iced teas, I went to the counter to try and get them. The cook ended up getting our iced teas for us. Our server finally came over to get our order, two chicken salad and tomato-basil soup combos. It then took another 30 minutes to get just the chicken salad sandwiches and the side of potato salad accompanying them while we watched them sit on the line the whole time. We were then told that they were still preparing the soup. A short while later, the waitress brought our soup. Looking at the cups of greasy clear broth, I politely informed the waitress that we had ordered tomato-basil to which she snapped,""that IS tomato-basil soup"" and stormed off. Digging through my cup of broth, I found raw tomatoes, chunks of wheat bread, and uncooked bacon. I decided not to brave the soup but my friend told me it was, in fact, horrible. The chicken salad sandwich was mediocre, at best, and the potato salad was inedible (hard to do, but they managed). The woman whom I think is the owner, walked around glaring at people. And the woman behind the register, could not be bothered to get off the phone to ring me up. All in all, AWFUL experience. Will never darken their door again. You'd be better off to go to S*peculoos on the next block.
