I LOVE everyone at Stafford Oaks !! I run a Giant Breed dog rescue and ALL our guys see Dr Heather Puksta, she is caring and compassionate and always has time for us. There are weeks I am at Stafford Oaks every day and they are always so kind. It is amazing how wonderful they are considering how difficult their jobs are !! We recently had a sever case that required a lot of treatment and the level of care was outstanding. Dr Puksta and the Stafford Oaks staff ALWAYS go above and beyond for their patients ... but when I think I have seen it all.. they go even further in providing the most EXCELLENT care !! I have never been talked down to or made to feel as if I no treatment options like some Vet clinics do..I have watched my vet and this staff cry over animals and cheer at happy endings. I am so lucky to know them and my dogs healthy and happy because of them !! Thank you Stafford Oaks, Dr. Puksta and the entire staff, you are AMAZING !!!! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/30/2013

Dr. Zachary Clark of Stafford Oaks saw my thirteen year old dog yesterday who had some trouble walking and standing yesterday. This was all very sudden as last week I have pictures of him running and jumping for treats. I took my dog to see Dr. Clark, as Dr. Brady was not in that day. Dr. Clark, after a minimal examination, decided that my dog had arthritis. As my dog is thirteen years old, this was not news to me, however, when asked if arthritis could be the cause of such a fast decline in my dog's muscle tone, energy, appetite, etc., Dr. Clark said it was ""serious"" arthritis. Serious indeed, as my dog indeed did have arthritis, however, this was NOT what had caused the rapid decline in my dog's health. After coming back to Stafford Oaks today and seeing Dr. Putska, I learned that what actually was happening to my dog was a large tumor that was bleeding out, which is what had caused the neurological problems relating to my dog's inability to walk or stand. I understand that discovering that my dog had cancer a day earlier would not have changed the outcome (my dog had to be put down), but it would have saved my dog a day of suffering with severe internal bleeding, extreme pain in his legs, inability to empty his bladder resulting in strong discomfort, among a myriad of other things. \r \r I understand people make mistakes, but this is not the first time a vet at Stafford Oaks has misdiagnosed one of my dogs. Three years ago, Dr. Stanley, who is no longer at Stafford Oaks, said that my 4 year old dog had arthritis when she really had hemolytic anemia. Just like with what happened today, a doctor at Stafford Oaks said one of my dogs had arthritis and presercibes multiple expensive medications, only for us to come back the next day to receive the correct diagnosis from a properly trained doctor. Luckily, in this case, my younger dog was able to be saved at the expense of $8,000 at Gulf Coast Vet Hospital. Please note that I did not mention that ANY staff or doctor at Stafford Oaks apologized for these grave errors, because no one did. They are aware of the mistake they made 3 years ago, but have clearly not learned. The disrespect and utter disregard that Stafford Oaks employees have for their customers is evident as they not once have apologized or offered a refund for the ridiculous misdiagnosises. more

Been using Dr.Brady for several years and everytime i come in the staff is always polite and Dr.Brady has always taken such great care of my Fur Babies. Knowledgeable & Caring Staff 3/29/2012

I have been using Stafford Oaks for the past seven years and feel they are the best in the area. I had taken my two Bichons to different vets in the area and they were overpriced and felt I was just a number. When I visited Stafford Oaks the first time I was met with a friendly front end staff. I filled out the necessary paperwork and they had my previous vets information within minutes. I met with Dr. Heather Puksta and was impressed with her friendliness toward me but mostly to my pets. After a few years of routine checkups and as the babies grew older it became more apparent of just how much she cares for all of her patients. When surgery was needed, she was there to greet us and kept us updated. If needed, she stayed late (way after normal business hours) so we could visit with her and our baby. If services were needed that Stafford Oaks did not provide (eye surgery, rehabilitation etc.) she did the research of the facilities before recommending to us. If I was scared of the what if's she was patient and caring. I now live about three hours away and still use Dr. Puksta and Stafford Oaks. I have yet to find a vet in the area I live in where I feel as safe and secure as I do with Dr. Puksta. I do not live in a rural area where I only have one or two vets to choose from, I live in a city where there are hundreds of vets. Dr. Puksta is now ""fixing"" an issue that a vet in my area failed to fix and fell secure in knowing that the services she recommended has already turned the situation around. I HIGHLY recommend Stafford Oaks. No, I am not an employee, a relative, a paid spokesperson..just a person who has a 15 & 17 year Bichon ( and me) that trust and love Dr. Puksta & the staff!! more

They killed my cat 3/18/2012

I tend to agree with ""tightscience"" about the staff writing these reviews. Dr. Brady did a simply spay on my cat. When we brought her home, she started to have bleeding and panting and drooling. We took her back immediately. The staff asked us to leave and that they would call us. An hour later we got the dreaded call that she died. WHAT???? How could that happen? Answer: She must have had a 1 in a million reaction to the sedative. She must have been alergic. When we picked her up for burial the next morning, they had crammed her in a box that she would not have fit in and froze her. We were to heartbroken to even open the box, but if I had it to do all over again, I would have sent her to a lab for testing to find out what really happened. It was apparent the staff was told not to say anything to us about the incident. DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR ANIMAL KILLED. more

Great vet care for a good price! 10/20/2011

Just started going to Stafford Oaks after a friend recommended Dr. Brady to me. I am a volunteer with Greater Houston GSD Rescue and so I have had quite a bit of experience working with different vets. \r \r Bottom line is Stafford Oaks gives the good quality Vet care for an affordable price. They are not in it to get your money and truly care about the well being of your pet. Dr Brady has been a fantastic Vet to work with. I would strongly recommend them to anyone. \r more

Don't waste your time 3/15/2011

I have been going to Stafford Oaks for about a year now. The facilities are a little run down and funny smelling, but the vets are nice enough once you get in to see them. However, I kind of suspect the staff are writing some of these 5 star reviews, because at its best it's just an OK place to take your pet. My main complaint is the front desk staff. First strike was when they lost my vaccination records. When I got my dog from the breader a year ago the breeder gave me her shot records and I turned them in to the staff at Stafford Oaks when she went in for the new dog check up. Three weeks ago I needed a copy to take my dog to the kennel, and they tell me they have no record of them. They said they were looking for them for 3 days, but long story short, I ended up having to pay to get my dog revaccinated for everything in order to get records to go to the kennel. Second strike was when they refused to sell me the flea medicine my dog has been taking for a year. I don't ask much from a vet but I need to be able to reliably purchase Revolution flea and heartworm drops. I took off work early to drive over and purchase some this afternoon, and while the first guy says no problem and is getting them ready for me this other receptionist ""Jan"" sticks her nose in. ""Wait just a minute"" she says. Then she goes and looks at my records and says, no you have not had your dog in for a heartworm test in the last year we can't sell you a 6 months supply until you bring your dog in for the test. (It has been 14 months since her last test, she has been on heartworm prevention the entire time and she was just in 3 weeks ago for her re-vaccinations). I actually don't mind getting my dog tested, but I am a busy person and it is actually a huge time commitment for me to get home to the dog and back to the vet before they close. She told me it was really for my own good. Actually I think what would have been for my own good is if could have just gotten my dogs flea and heartworm meds instead taking off work early, driving all the way over here and wasting this beautiful afternoon. I just said fine and drove down the road to pets-mart and bought the over the counter drops. I'm a busy professional just trying to take care of my dog and I don't have time to deal with this place. more

re: Quality Service! 6/12/2010

I'd been having a difficult time finding a good vet for my cat. I came across Stafford Oaks online a few years ago and thought I'd give it a chance. The staff are friendly and great with my cat. I haven't had any difficulties. They don't pressure you or try to convince you to spend money, but they give you options to treat your animal. The clinic is clean and well maintained. Dr. Michael Moore is wonderful! I would recommend him to anyone who asks! Pros: friendly, caring staff more

Dr. Brady and Stafford Oak are the BEST! 9/1/2009

My fiance and I took our adopted lab puppy (5 months old) to Dr. Brady in early July for a second opinion after receiving a distemper diagnosis from a different vet in Pearland. We were told by the first vet that he was 75% sure she had distemper and to wait for the worst, and he had ""never been wrong about his distemper assessments"".\r \r Dr. Brady did a thorough examination and used his experience to diagnose her with a much more hopeful ailment - a severe upper-respiratory infection. He confirmed what we felt that it was premature to assume she had distemper just because she had a horrible runny nose and cough for 3 weeks without any other distemper symptoms. He put her on a different antibiotic and within 3 DAYS her symptoms were completely gone. \r \r Dr. Brady is very matter of fact and gives useful information because he is so knowledgeable and loves animals. We definitely appreciated that!\r \r We can't say enough positive things about Dr. Brady and the Stafford Oaks practice. We gladly drive 20 minutes to get there and would drive further if we needed to! Pros: Knowledgeable, experienced vet and staff, Friendly more

The BEST veterinary clinic in the area! 5/9/2009

I've been bringing my dogs to SOVH for close to 10 years. I live in the Heights in Houston but drive the 20 miles each and every time I need to take my dogs to the vet.\r \r There simply is not a better vet in the state of Texas than Michael Moore. He truly does care about the animals he treats and often interrupts his family schedule to treat a dog. \r \r Pros: competent and caring vets Cons: Not a single thing more

Caring & Quality service 4/14/2009

After going to an awful vet in Missouri City, I needed to find a new one when our cat came down with a UTI. I called Stafford Oaks because of the location and multiple good reviews. I was so pleased! I got an appointment that afternoon. We didn't wait at all once we were there to be given a room. Dr Puksta and the staff were understanding of cats fears of the vet and subsequent sassy attitude. Dr Puksta explained everything thoroughly & even researched information for us. We found a new forever vet! Pros: Price, Location, Dr Puksta more

Caring, Professional, and Knowledgeable Staff! 4/1/2009

I found Stafford Oaks Vet Hospital one morning when I woke up and my puppy wasn't moving. I was new to town and hadn't located a vet yet. I called a long list of vets and all the others wanted a huge fee for working him in on late notice. But I called Stafford Oaks and they told me to just bring him in, no fee, no wait. My puppy was fixed up in no time and I got regular calls from the vet to check up on him. I have since moved further away from their office, but still travel over to them, because I won't find such great service anywhere else. I can drop my dog or kitten off before work, the vet will check him out and call me to let me know what's going on. Then I pick them up after work. They are convenient, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. And most of all, they care about your animals. Pros: Great Staff Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Excellent facilities and great customer service 3/6/2008

I highly recommend Stafford Oaks because of their great customer service and fantastic facilities. My entire experience was wonderful. My cat had surgery there and the doctor called after the procedure to let me know how things went and at that time we scheduled a pick up appt a few days later to go over the recovery. I had a snag at payment because the price I was asked to pay was different than when I had called twice, before the surgery, to obtain a quote. After I complained, they promptly credited me back to the quote I had received and only charged me that amount. I was very impressed by this and I would go back to Stafford Oaks. I recommend this vet highly. more
