St. Mary's has been around for a long time, and recently combined with Mercy hospital. I can safely say that the emergency room visits we've made there have been very good. Obviously, if you're going to the emergency room it isn't fun, but both times we were treated quickly and efficiently. I had a very badly sprained ankle and after triage we were bumped up to the "not-so-emergency" emergency area, so our wait was a lot less than it would have been. All in all, I would go to St. Mary's before I would go to Garden City if an emergency arose, and I am probably closer to Garden City.
