Square One Brewery

This place has very nice decor and I was patronizing Square One a few times a month until I had a horrible experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. My boyfriend and I were celebrating a milestone at the restaurant. We ordered a round of drinks, appetizer and entrees. The appetizer and drinks came in a timely manner. After we finished it and our drinks 15 minutes passed before we saw our server again. When he did come back he told us that the entree my boyfriend ordered wasn't available. When we asked why we were not informed of this sooner the server said the cooks didn't tell him and laughed. After an akward silence we asked to see the chef for an explanation. The server walks back to the kitchen then he and the three gentleman in the kitchen started laughing and staring at us. After 5 more minutes a lady walks to our table and apologizes. We then ask for our check and leave. As we walked out nobody even acknowledged us. The next day I emailed the restaurant expecting an apology but didn't even receive a response. I do not know what was said I'm the kitchen but it did appear to be discrimination against our sexual orientation. I would like to think this is an isolated incident but I am not willing to go back and find out. Pros: Decent food and drinks Cons: Horrible service, worse management. more

This was one of my worst dining experiences ever. The beer was very good, but the food and service were terrible. My chicken was sooooo dry that I would not get it even if it were free. I dined in a large group that consisted mostly of couples, and naturally each couple wanted a check with 2 people on it. The server gave us only one check and and refused to split it up (even after we asked to split the check by tables (there were three tables pushed together). Instead she offered a pen and paper and claimed we needed to separate the bill ourselves. Also, the server wrote in a 20% tip and used the after tax amount for the tip which gives a larger than 20% tip (which was completely undeserved). I would never go back to this place again. After calling to make reservations and being told that we would not need any for a breakfast service on a holiday, we arrived to being told straight up that they may not be able to accomidate a party of 7 and we should wait an hour or 2 or split up tables. we told them we called days ago and were told that it was relayed to us that none of this was necessary and to come in. after ordering it was apparent that they have inexperienced help. ignored most of the service and almost finished when we found #$%@^ GLASS SHARDS IN MY 6 YEAR OLD""S PANCAKES. I was livid and demanded that my families meal would be taken off the bill. Mind you I never , never make a big deal about things at restaraunts after working in the business for years prior. The manager said he would take off the 6 dollar order of pancakes and I said that was not enough. If she would have ate that glass which would have been VERY possible, I would have absolutely lost it, and was on the verge of doing so just on the principal alone. I told him to be in my shoes for a min and tell me what you would do ? he just looked at me with a stupid look on his face and said well I can take the pancakes off. needless to say that check was not paid. At least For my half of the party.I will never eat there again or go there for drinks and I am reporting them to the health dpt. Needless to say I have found that other people that have eaten there have had terrible service as well. not sure why i even gave them a chance in the first place. Cons: in-experienced staff more
