THIS ""SPOT"" IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST GRUB ON THE ISLAND OF GALVESTON! I'LL EVEN PUT THE ""SPOT"" UP AGAINST ANY HAMBURGER SPOT IN HOUSTON OR ANYWHERE. ANYTHING YOU GET ON THE ME...

Worst

So-so food, counter service, a bit high pricd for the quality and it's a noisy echo chamber. Pros: Seawall location Cons: NOISY, so-so food, over priced

Favorite ""Spot"" in Galveston for Burgers 6/28/2013

We have been here many times, and always love the Oyster Po-Boy (which is not on the menu). But ask for it, and they will be happy to deliver. This is OUR hangout, in Galveston. This is also the best venue for watching the July 4th fireworks in Galveston.\r When they ring your pager, you pick up your food tray and can add everthing you want added to your sandwich at their ""fixin's"" bar. They also have an upstairs seating area to enjoy the open-air view, during warmer months. The downstairs section is enclosed and air-conditioned, with windows looking out to the ocean. They also have a separate bar section to the right of the restaurant, for those wanting something a little more ""potent."" Just look for the place along the seawall with all the cars and motorcycles parked out front. more

Excellent 9/19/2011

So, once again I ventured to Woody's at the end of the island. They asked us not to come the first time because my son was with us. This time as we went up the ramp there was a sign...NO FOOD! We thought maybe they didn't want us to bring any. Wrong..they don't serve food. So we asked, ""where should we go"". The answer..the spot. And were they right. Great place. Very reasonable prices. And a fabulous view. Would go again. more

I Love The Spot 9/16/2011

I live a block away from The Spot I love their huge burgers, hot wings, waffle fries, and cold drinks. The atmosphere & view are awesome. My favorite menu is green burger and hot wings not to mention the mix drinks at The Squeeze & Drip. Finding a good table at the Tiki bar is sometimes difficult. I would say the only problem I have is that I tend to drink a bit too much :). but I just walk home. more

Fun Atmosphere, Standard food. 7/13/2011

We wanted a fun place to sit ocean side, after searching via city search and other reviews I knew what to expect. If you are with a group FIND your table FIRST! They keep menus on the tables so after we were seated we sent someone to pace the orders and then pick up the food. I have no complaints to the quality of the food, it was pretty average...I had the fish and chips (but really how different does the one basket of fried fish and fries taste from the next guy??!!) I give it a 4 for location, parking and atmosphere. more

good food, good view 5/25/2011

Maui maui with avocado and onion rings are great! burgers and waffle fries were good too. more

the great location is the ONLY convenience... 5/10/2011

Yes the view is wonderful and because they allow dogs I have been back several times, but good luck finding a table, worth the hassle, in this self seating place. Each time has been more irritating than the last... Not only is there a lack of options on the menu that they make you wait in A hot, stuffy and OVERLYCROWDED line, that has never taken less then 25 minutes, just to get up to where I could put in an order(unless in the bar area where I have yet to have an even close to descent bartender) but After that part is over and I would actually find a table or have one cleaned off, they call your name to go BACK in through the crowded line of people waiting to place their orders to pick up your own plates and grab anything that is not just the basic food presented on the plate like condiments, silverware, napkins, drinks etc... Then with hands full try to squeeze through people to make it back to what is hopefully still your table(yes, thats been an issue before too)... When all has been said and done everytime I have left with the feeling of it wasn't worth the trouble, the beachview is supposed to be relaxing and this place is anything but.. more

good view..... 10/28/2010

Food was ok, but the view is what makes the place. Service was good and the place has some charm. We were really tired and trying to just enjoy ourselves and a table next to us struck up a conversation. It was more of an interrogation than a conversation. They seemed to know everyone in the whole place. Obviously we wondered into a locals place. They then invited us to the Elks lodge. We declined and the table on the other side of us started to insist that we go as well. It was kind of like being in an episode of the Twilight Zone. They ruined our meal. It was a strange experience. more

Terrible Food!!! / Hot Beer!!! / Great View!!! 10/11/2010

I probably would have had a better meal if I had eaten it out of the trash can outside.....yes, garbage probably would have been better. The beer wasn't even cold. But the view was nice and I guess that is what I was paying for. This is the kind of place that gives a town a bad name. Tourist Trap! more

Great Food and View 10/11/2010

The food was really good! I ordered the shrimp and fish plate. The salad was really yummy too. It was served in a taco salad bowl. The waiters were nice too. Awesome fries! more

Worst ever!!!! 10/7/2010

The only thing that this place has going for it is the view and the motorcycle parking! I was on the toilet for 4 days after eating there. I hadn't eaten all day and I ate their garbage and paid dearly for it!!!! more

Relaxing 'Spot' by the Beach 8/19/2010

I'm not a burger or sandwich person, but I liked this place. I had calamari, which is normally an appetizer, along with a side salad. The calamari was great ; my salad wasn't anything spectacular, but as a side salad that didn't matter too much. They have a bunch of other salads that I'll probably try sometime. I thought the whole set up was kind of nice. The print of the items on the menu board is a bit small, but that wasn't a problem for me. Nice music playing and a beach view, not bad. Pros: relaxed setting with good food Cons: can get rather crowded more

Great burger and more joint 9/20/2009

Good place for a big hamburger, or a really good oyster & shrimp po-boy, at reasonable prices. My fiancee mentioned her hamburger bun could have been a little softer. My po-boy was great. They have really good onion rings here, and an upstairs outside patio facing the ocean. When you pick up your order, there's a vegetable island near the counter, where you can add extra tomatoes, lettuces, mayo, onions, jalapenos, etc. Pros: Fresh burgers and seafood sandwiches more

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST RESTAURANT IN GALVESTON AND MAYBE HOUSTON!!! 7/30/2008

THIS ""SPOT"" IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST GRUB ON THE ISLAND OF GALVESTON! I'LL EVEN PUT THE ""SPOT"" UP AGAINST ANY HAMBURGER SPOT IN HOUSTON OR ANYWHERE. ANYTHING YOU GET ON THE MENU IS AWSOME AND THE BUNS ARE FRESHED BAKED DAILEY. EVEN THE SEAFOOD AT THE ""SPOT"" IS AWSOME ALONG WITH THE SALADS! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ""THE SPOT"" AND DON'T GO TO GALVESTON WITHOUT EATING HERE!!! Pros: THE ENTIRE MENU AND THE DESSERTS ARE GREEEAAAT! Cons: CROWNDED AT PEAK TIMES (JUST MEANS PLACE IS DAMN GOOD)! more

Best burgers, fries, pina coladas 7/14/2007

Tried out The Spot a few months ago. Definitely some of the best burgers we've had! Great waffle fries and awesome pina coladas served in young coconuts. Can't wait to return. Pros: Above average burgers, fries, and pina coladas Cons: Very popular place - tons of noisy kids more

great burgers!!!! 6/29/2006

This is the place to get the best burgers in Galveston. They also have marvelous cottacge fries and great fresh-cut mild onion rings. You walk up and order, then wait for your order to get ready. The burgers are fresh, hand-made, cooked to order, and absolutely delicious!!!!! This is one of the places locals go, which is a sign of a great restaurant in a vacation town. more
