dont go here! 11/22/2012

Incompetent. I could have diagnosed my dog better and saved $400. Accept responsibility people! The snotty twit on the phone said "I didn't check you in and I didn't check you out, what do you exppect me to do?" Well get rid of the attitude, your job, accept responsibility. Any of those work for me. And I bet you wouldn't be so high horsed to my face. Has anyone there actually seen their chart? They don't write anything down. According to the snotty gal its because it doesn't matter. So doctors are stupid for checking and documenting our blood pressure, heart and lungs and temp. more

Beware of additional charges 7/19/2012

Anytime you are faced with hard decision of whether or not to put your pet down, it is a difficult and stressful time. When you take you beloved pet to the vet to have the procedure done, you expect to be treated with sympathy and respect. I received none of these on my visit yesterday. Instead, I felt swindled and trapped and forced to pay almost twice what I was quoted over the phone for the procedure. \r \r I had been to this location previously to have the same done for my dog. The vet was kind, and understanding. \r \r This vet doesn?t even introduce herself or greet me with anything other than ? so, we are putting your 14 year old cat down. Um, yeah, I believe that is what it says on the chart. She then asks if we had been in previously ? no. I?m here just for this since your hours of business allow me to be present when the deed is done ? let?s just get on with it. \r \r Well this turns into a discussion of fees ? and extra $51 for an ?examination/ consultation?. Amazing Doctor 2/16/2012

She was the attending Dr. when my sweet Southern Belle fell suddenly ill. Her compassion, her explaining what was wrong, her support, helped me and my daughter cope with the sudden loss of our cat. Most amazingly, a few days later, we received a very touching card in the mail, with a personal message from Dr. Stokes, regarding the sudden loss of her. Thank you so much for caring, and being there in my babies final moments. The comfort you provided her made her final minutes restful and relaxed. And you helped us grieve with much support. Allowing me nearly 45 minutes of private time to hold her was the best gift you could have given me, as she was my lil sidekick though thick parts of my life. Again, I would recommend Dr. Stokes, and the Spokane Valley Animal Hospital, for the care of your fur friends. more

Wonderful and caring place for my furbabies 2/16/2012

My cats have been going here since we moved to Spokane in 2004. When my sweet Southern Belle fell suddenly ill, they had a room prepared for our arrival, and there were 3 staff members, including Dr. Lori Stokes, tending to her needs. With compassion and many words of support, they helped me and my daughter grieve the loss of our baby that day, and for weeks following. We received her ashes within 2 days, which helped us so much. With the adoption of our newest baby, they have been there for her checkups and just general questions regarding a spazzy kitten and introduction to our other cat. Their words helped us in so many ways, and I highly recommend this animal hospital! Thank you Spokane Valley Animal Hospital, and Dr. Lori Stokes, for all your support and help with keeping my furbabies healthy and happy. more

Highly recommend Spokane Valley Animal Hospital 2/2/2012

I have great dane show dogs. All of them are patients at Spokane Valley Animal Hosp. The exam rooms are clean and staff is excellent at handling my dogs.\r I've read the bad reviews on the insiderpages and am surprised at the criticism. I've owned danes for 10 years (and a variety of dogs for considerably longer) and do not share these opinions of the vets at this clinic. I am in the clinic with each dog at least 2 times a year for vaccinations and general care. This is the best clinic in the Valley. more

Horrible DR. but good staff 7/31/2011

Judgmental! Shakes her head at you and rolls her eyes. Doesn't believe what you are telling her and rolls and shakes her head again. Don't judge when you really don't know! Not only did she treat us horrible we also got ripped off. Just did some research on euthanasia and cremation....she charged us 151.00 and you can go to the Spokane Humane Society and get it both done for 30-45 depending on weight of the animal....simply unreal to charge so much when people are already grieving! more

Spokane Valley Animal Hospital does a great job!! 5/24/2011

I have great dane show dogs which you can see if you'll google Bella Vista Danes. \r I have been very please with the services Spokane Valley Animal Hospital provided. I have found Dr. Stokes and her colleagues to be professional and to have a solid knowledge base. They've been very fair with pricing for services. \r Another individual who reviewed this business called them young wannabe's or something of that nature....that's very ignorant. These folks have put in there time obtaining the DVM and because they are not to far out from graduation are likely to be at the top of their game with the most recent recommendations for standard of care. \r My dogs like the office space and the staff and to me, that's how I assess bedside manor. \r I'll be continuing to take my dogs there.\r Also, if you need a nice short crop for a boxer or dobbie, they have a vet there that does a nice job. I've seen his short crops. more

ignorance 3/22/2011

first off to the people who are complaining about prices, imagine how it feels for the staff when they are trying their best to be helpful to people and compassionate and truly care about the pets and their owners while they have to make the hard decision to put their pets to sleep and having to ask for payment. i felt so bad for the girl who helped me with my sweet boy. she truly looked sick to have to ask for payment but i understand fully that it is a business and this is how they are supporting their families and paying for school and such.\r \r the vets there are AMAZING. they do their best to provide the best care possible. the female vets with go through lengths to help your animals. dr stokes i have seen come in for other clients on her days off! dr codr was honest with my sister when she had brought her 13yr old lab in. he wouldnt let her spend hundreds of dollars on treatment when the prognosis was truly poor. \r \r ALSO I CALLED AND ASKED IF THEY WERE AN EMERGENCY CLINIC THEY AR more

can i speak with ur son please 3/17/2011

ok most of the comments on here were about the hospital running up bills and being uncareing , then you see some guy talking about his wife the groomer? is their a groomer at the emergincy vet? i saw nuthen bad about groomers but the emergincy staff.....and y would a husband write something bad about his wife? he wouldent ...but again why even bring up the wife grommer being insulted when they said it was the emergicy staff that was uncareing ? i have been their myself after adopting a 13 yr old dog from scraps..they said he was old but had no problems but should be put down... y i ask you . not to mention i had a lil nursepoo hitting on what she thought was my son , witch is my husband and took our number from the files and acwally calle my home asking for my "son" in witch she dident talk about our dog .... so take ur animals their if youd like , leave ur husbands at home ladys more

stay away from this place 1/19/2011

If there is a rating less than one star, I would give it. \r I will never, ever go to this place again. The first time I tried to go, I thought my Shih Tzu had swallowed a needle. They would not see him in the 45 minutes before noon, and said I would need to come back at 3:00 that afternoon. The second time I went, they did not have any answers for me, and sent me down to WSU Vet Hospital in Pullman. The third time, this last weekend, my little girl Shih Tzu was seriously ill, and I had to make the decision to put her out of her misery. I had waited until they opened to call - I called from home and asked them if they could help me with a doctor and a quiet room to put her out of her misery. They said they were too busy - were booked up - even though they claim to be an emergency hospital - they said she would have to wait until the end of the day, and then they could probably fit her in, even though she was in pain.\r This place is the worst place in the world - stay away. more

Run up the bill with unnecessary tests 11/16/2010

Took my dogs there for a couple years. They seem inclined to run up the bill more than is necessary. Staff was at times rude, depending on who it was. Vet was snooty & demeaning. I saw a comment here that they are willing to work with you on payments. I was in the waiting room once & I overheard them allowing a woman to actually make payments. This service was declined to me 5 minutes later. I take my pets elsewhere now. more

Uncareing 9/9/2010

I can not get over the expierence I have had with the inconsestency and rudness of the staff at this facility the only thing they care about is the money NOT your animal or your feelings and was horrified to find others with the same expierence as mine. Vets are supossed to care about your animal needs and be compasionent but not these ones I hope they have insurance they'll need it. more

Proud Puppy Parent 8/14/2010

I have two gorgeous 16 week old labs whom I adore. My previous lab lived for 15 wonderful years and I know labs are for me. Moving to Spokane from the west side of the state, I chose Spokane Valley Animal Hospital after a friend recommended them. I know more than anything I chose the right place!\r \r The doctors as well as the staff have always been superb! I have actually had the privilege of having Dr. Stokes as my Vet. I'm not sure where some of the previous posters have had problems, I found her to be amazing!\r \r Dr. Stokes has taken my calls when I couldn't bring my dogs in without charging me or having hesitations. I may be a bit on the cautious side and call more than needed, but Dr. Stokes has always been gracious enough to listen and offer advice. She may look young, but she makes up for it in her intelligence and compassion for animals. \r \r I will also recommend Spokane Valley Animal Hospital to anyone. Their staff have always been kind and helpful! more

Yeah Colleen...one more thing... 8/13/2010

Have you ever heard of the term known as ""Libel?"" It's a hell of a little law that protects people like Dr.Stokes from people like you. Here, read this little definition about it: Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, slander (for transitory statements), and libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image. It is usually, but not always,[1] a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant). In common law jurisdictions, slander refers to a malicious, false and defamatory spoken statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism. Related to defamation is public disclosure of private facts, which arises where one person reveals information that is not of public concern, and the release of which would offend a reasonable person. ""Unlike [with] libel, truth is not a defense for invasion of privacy.""[2] False light laws are ""intended primarily to protect the plaintiff's mental or emotional well-being.""[3] If a publication of information is false, then a tort of defamation might have occurred. If that communication is not technically false but is still misleading, then a tort of false light might have occurred.[3] In most civil law jurisdictions, defamation is dealt with as a crime rather than a tort.[4] A person who destroys another's reputation may be referred to as a famacide, defamer, or slanderer. The Latin phrase famosus libellus means a libelous writing. Colleen, you better pray to God that Dr.Stokes does not pursue any legal action of her own against you!! Maybe you will think twice next time to try to go on-line and write your nasty messages about someone and their career!! more

Dr. Lori Stokes 8/13/2010

Colleenee,\r \r First of all I would like to recognize everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but like we all know that some people should just keep theirs to themselves...take my advice I think you need it! I have been going to Dr. Stokes for a few years now and I have never been dissatisified with her professional service. She even saved by doxie when she was on deaths door after a mauling from a large dog. My dog went into cardiopulmonary arrest at one point and she revived her! If it was not for Dr. Stokes my dog would not be with me today. My question for you is why didn't you go to your regular vet... I'm assuming you have one since you have been raising dogs for ""30 years"" or if your such a professional dog owner why didn't you just take it out yourself if it was such a simple procedure! Have you ever thought that maybe it wasn't her, but infact it was you that was rude and your dog being uncooperative. Myself being in the healthcare field am so tired of people like you havig demands that just are impossible to meet regardless! I think you should think about your attitude and how unchristian your being towards a great vet that didn't deserve any rude posting from you!! And the rest of these people on here complaining about the fees we all pay for services rendered and the wait times...ever been to an emergency department on a friday night?? As for myself and my friends we are all going to continue going to Spokane Valley Animal Hospital cause they are caring and qualified to treat our animals needs. But then again we all have our own opinions. more

HORRIBLE!!! 8/11/2010

I have 30 years experience with hunting dogs, took mine in for cheet grass in the ear, should be an easy removal. The ""vet' did not introduce herself, wore no badge of identification, horrible bed side. Wanted to take my dog to the ""exam room"". (First red flag) I asked that the cheet be removed in my presence. Heavy sigh from Lori Stokes DVM, she brought back the tools, but fumbled with them at the counter as if she wasn't sure what to do (2nd red flag), some were clearly too long and not appropriate for a Brittany. I held my trusting dog while she made a stab at it, litterally, came up with nothing...suggested she bring in assitants to hold my dog down on her side (3rd red flag!) and if that didn't work, she suggested sedation. (NOT HAPPENING!) For a seed in her ear!!! I told her that never before have I had a vet miss on the first try , let alone the RISK and EXPENSE of sedation. This place is horribly understaffed by young want-to-be's and is not supervised by professionals. I was there at 5:40 pm and Lori Stokes advised me that she was the only ""vet"" on duty. They are open until 9pm...PLEASE do not take your pets there after hours. TAKE THEM TO THE REAL EMERGENCY CLINIC ON MISSION AND RUBY. This place needs to be shut down. I am also writingt to the DVM Board! more

Best Groomer in town!! 11/18/2009

Can't even imagine Debbie being rude or incompetent to anyone...EVER. She has groomed cats and dogs for years and I have NEVER seen such a thing. I have seen her take disasters and turn them into happy and cleaner animals. I have personally worked with Debbi and I do believe it's you Jennifer who is the rude and incompetent one. She does a wonderful job and has plenty of returning clients. Maybe you should re-evaluate the situation and realize that it was you madam who is out of line. Debbie, I commend your work and will continue to bring my animals to you!! Thank You! more

SVAH Groomer 11/15/2009

My name is Arlie Bacon. I am the husband of Debbie Bacon, the pet groomer at Spokane Valley Animal Hospital. I have been married to her for 20 years and have never known her to be rude to anyone. She is truthfully one of the nicest people I have ever known. That is one of the main reasons I married her. She has been grooming pets for 14 years and has built a respectable clientele of happy repeat customers. For these reasons, it would be difficult for anyone who knows her, to accuse her of being rude or incompetent. She has encountered an occaisional difficult customer over the years as does anyone in the customer service trade. However, this is the first time that one has posted slanderous statements about her on a public domain.. She is rightfully upset but will not respond personally. She has authorized me to offer a 10% discount to any new customer that mentions this review. This offer is valid until December 14th 09. Would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays. ( You to Jennifer ). more

Completely Incompetent 11/10/2009

Completely Incompetent Employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. The groomer is completely incompetent. Charged me $28 to bathe a six pound dog and completely butchered his haircut. He doesn't even look like a chihuahua anymore. I will never go back. I told them I was dissatisfied and the groomer called and left a nasty message on my voice mail. NEVER GO THERE! more

Worst 8/23/2009

Used this clinic three times. Staff undertrained/overworked (1 Vet was on duty on one occurrence, had 2 emergencies and a room full of regular appointments to deal with). Messed my billing up, had to deal with their collection agency to straighten. F. Pros: On Sprague Cons: Place is generally awful more
