I have been going to Angie for about 2 years now. She is a sweet, nice person who takes pride in her work. She always treats me very well. She is great at hair coloring and styling. Robert is my stylist. When I first went to Spectrym, wasn't sure what to expect. Well, Robert is a consummate professional who inspires confidence. I know that whatever he does will flatter my face and fit my hair type. The color and highlights always look great and I get lots of compliments. I just got my hair highlighted for the first time with Robert and he did an amazing job! i was really nervous, and didnt like how it came out at first and he darkened the color for me just how i wanted it--he went above and beyond to make sure i was satisfied. I've been getting my highlights from Nannette for over five years. She really is a genius at this. When i started going I had black hair with a few layers of bleach under (no joke, three at least), some red and probably brown too. She saved my hair and helped me grow it out and still look amazing. She is always good at suggesting color but won't let you do whatever it is you think would look good - she's one of the rare hair colorists who knows what does and doesn't look good, and will actually tell you! Very rare in NYC. I go a few times a year, the work is always top notch, all the color layers blend in perfectly and are flattering no matter the light.\r \r Haircuts - I have been going to Angie for about a year now. I've brought her non discernable pictures at times and she has always managed to create something that totally flattered my face. She, again, is honest and will work with your wishes but also make her own suggestions and has a good understanding what does and doesn't look good.\r \r Overall, atmosphere is great, everyone is nice and it's worth it! I have gotten my hair cut a few times by Nigel...and now I won't go any where else!! He is the best. He cuts my hair awesome and is so much fun to talk to. I love my hair. Inna did a beautiful job on the color. I wanted my hair to look refined and classy and natural and Inna gave me exactly what I asked for. I get compliments on it everywhere I go and let me tell you, when you're in your 50s and overweight, it feels great. I feel so lucky that I found Spectrym and I highly reccommend them. I live in Queens but the Austrin Street salon has a Manhattan feel to it. Everyone on the staff is very accommodating and it feels as if they really care about helping you look the best you can. The first time I had my hair highlighted I was a very nervous. Now, I sit in the chair and let Inna ""do her thing."" Good luck and I hope you are as pleased as I am. I have been going to Nanette for over 10 years. I moved to Long Island about 5 years ago and everyone keeps asking me why I travel all the way to Queens to get my hair done. I them that I would never trust my hair to anyone but Nanette. My color is always beautiful and may hair is always healthy. Recently, I Iasked her to cut my long hair into a short bob. She helped me decide just the right style and did a fabulous job. I am so happy with the cut and of course the color. I can always count on Nanette! more

Great salon. Nannette is so nice! She saved my hair. It was my first visit to a salon and I showed up with a bad colored and damaged hair. Nanette was very patient and professional. She spend a lot of time with me to talk what ""we should do"". She did a great job with the color, very talented. Nice personality too. And did agreat job cutting my hair. I only was trimming my ends but this woman gave my hair a nice volume and great look. I am definately staying with the salon and Nanette. Can't wait to try their spa! I had nigel as my hair dresser, He did a wonderful job with my hair cut. I live in california and, can not\r find anyone to cut my hair right. ( the right way, I want). After looking at different salons in forest hills, I decided to Try out Spectrym Salon. After reading many of the great reviews on citysearch the decision was easy. The facility is both modern and clean. The staff is very helpful. Prior to going to Spectrym i always went home to LI to get a haircut but with high gas prices and even more traffic it was no longer an option. They gave me a great haircut hair and nice lady who washed my hair gave me an excellent scalp massage. I will be back again. Pros: Great haircut and close Cons: none more

I had the best experience at Spectrym! I decided it was time for a change and saw all of the great reviews about Robert on Citysearch. The pleasant experience started with the super-convenient online appointment scheduling. Once I got to the salon, I hardly waited before my hair was washed. Then, I talked to Robert about what I wanted. I've had a bob for the last 10 years and we discussed how to update it. It is the best bob haircut I've ever had! Robert was so friendly and easy to talk to! He was really interested in giving me the right style for ME! On top of that, the price was extremely reasonable at $50. I got my haircut last weekend and people are still telling me how great it looks! I will definitely be going back to Robert! Pros: No wait, great haircut, reasonable price! Cons: No cons! more

I needed a haircut and style for a wedding I was going to and I couldnt get an apt with my regular stylist. I chose spektrym salon in forest hills because from the outside it looks like a good place. I just wanted a blowout so I didnt think it would be hard for anyone anyway. I got an apt with Robert and he gave me the best hair cut and style ive ever had! I wanted volume and he cut my hair so it will be volumous and it is 3 weeks later! He took his time and was just great. He cared about what I wanted and he seems like he will only do something perfectly anyways. The price wasnt bad either. $50 for a haircut and style. Definately going to this salon again. Everyone is friendly and it is very clean, I also didnt have to wait. He was ready when I walked in. more

I went to Spectrum three weeks ago with one goal. To fix my badly colored, dry and overprocessed hair. I had previously gone to salons in the city and had always been disappointed by their results. I was in Forest Hills the other day walking along Austin Street, feeling a bit under the weather, and stopping in front of Spectrym, I thought that a facial was the exact thing I needed to boost my moral.
