Facility needs repair and overpriced for old, mismatched equipment. Very small indoor pool and no outdoor facilities. Excellent trainer staff for classes...hopefully, they're able to get better opportunities someplace else. Indoor child care facility adequate but looked progressively dirty over time. Really liked child care staff until one employee tried to give my kid to the wrong person and wouldn't listen when the other person wanted ""his kid instead"". Inept management & admin team. On my 3rd attempt to fix a billing error. Never able to talk with same person twice. Computers always ""down"" or staff of the day at front counter unable to sign in or don't know how to use computer system. Staff loses paperwork and not really interested in my copies. Really enthusiastic manager talked to us nonstop when we joined. Will not talk to us about billing dispute...always out of the office. more

Expensive but Decent 12/23/2009

I've been to every location of Spectrum in San Antonio. The facilities vary and they've removed many of the racquetball courts. Generally speaking, the machines are in good shape and towel service/shampoo/spray deodorant and (free) lockers with built-in locks is available. Front desk employees are nice, Salespeople are stuck-up. Expensive ($140 per family without child-care) and doesn't have facilities outside San Antonio, TX and California. However, San Antonio is fairly well covered. Pros: multiple locations, good equipment, all purpose gym Cons: expensive, not nation-wide more

Great bikes! 3/21/2007

I'm an avid cyclist and love to do spin classes. When I checked out this club I was impressed with the staff and the cleanliness, but what really blew me away were the cycle bikes. They are the mack-daddy of spin bikes. After taking a class, I was hooked, I joined my entire family up on the spot. more

A great place to swim.. 3/21/2007

I went looking just for a place to swim, and did I find a great place. The pool at the club is beautiful, it's always crystal clear, and the perfect temperature. The staff was so helpful, and they even provided towels. After my swim, I spent some time in the hot tub and dry sauna, both were so clean. As I was leaving the young man working the check in desk said good bye, and used my name. It was only my 3rd visit, very impressive!!! more

BEST TRAINERS! 3/21/2007

I have been a member of Spectrum for about a year now...It's an awesome club to workout at...it's always clean and the staff is always so helpful. They are always making improvements to the club and trying to make working out exciting. I highly reccommend gettting a personal trainer. I thought I knew what I was doing in the gym and always made small changes but since I hired my trainer the pounds have just fell off! We all need a little motivation sometimes! It's worth the money to invest in your health and the luxury of Spectrum Clubs! Pros: trainers, staff, equipment more

Unsurpassed service 3/21/2007

If you haven't been to this club, get by there today. The service is out of this world, the place is so clean. I've never been to a club before that provided you everything you'd need from towels, built in locks, even tv's on the machines to keep you distracted from your workout. The smoothie bar is cool to! The staff was all really friendly, and helpful. Go check it out. Pros: convenience; amenities more

Great Fitness Club 3/21/2007

I was visiting a friend in San Antonio for the week and needed a place to workout. My friend mentioned the Spectrum Club was the closest to her house. I decided to try it out and I can't wait to come back to San Antonio just to workout there again. I am very picky about the type of equipment at gyms and I was very impressed with the how new the equipment was and how clean it was. The cardio area was awesome too! My favorite part of the club was the complimentary amenities in the locker rooms, shampoo, conditioner and body wash...I would highly recommend this facility to anyone that lives or visits the area! Pros: Smoothie Bar, amenities, staff more

spectrum the greatest customer service experiance that I have ever had, as well as the top of line equipment in town 3/21/2007

As I walked into the club the front desk staff was greeting everyone by name, that was impressive in it's self, they had big smiles on there faces and they looked like they realy enjoyed what they were doing. Then someone else came to me and showed me around the club. The club looked awsome there employees talking to members also greeting me as I passed by them. Let me tell you a little bit about there club, They had top of the line equipment with flat screen TV on them where you can watch what ever you wanted to watch. There machines were all clean even the carpet looked new. It was nice and bright so everything looked alive in there and all the people were vary friendly. So I strongly recommend Spectrum Athletic Club at Bandera Point for everyone and enyone who wants to enjoy there time while working out!!! Pros: The Customer service was great and equipment was top of the line Cons: Not enought clubs like spectrum all around San Antonio more

My New home 3/21/2007

Well What can i say. I have been a member of several health clubs over the years but it seems that i have finally found a home with Spectrum. The customer service is out of this world, I mean the guy at the front desk Ceasar knows me by name and always greets me with a smile and tells me to have a good workout . Pros: towels provided, locks provided, Cons: customer service is not this good at other company more

Great staff 3/21/2007

The staff at the Bandera Spectrum are incredible. From the first step into the club you are greeted by a friendly smile and hello. I was impressed that within two visits they knew my name. The fitness staff are very helpful. I was asked to schedule a fitness appointment when I first joined, but delined because I thought I could figure it out. During my first workout it must have been obvious that I needed help. A very nice fitness associate approached me and very professionally asked if they could assist me. I agreed and proceederd to spend 45 minutes asking questions and getting a great orientation to all the equipment and programs. I am well on my way to reaching my fitness goals and want to thank the staff that cared and helped me get started. Pros: Great staff more

Great facility for the whole family!! 3/21/2007

As a father of 3, ages 2-14, I was looking for a club that would work for the whole family. Did I ever find it, this place had it all, our 2 youngest love the kids area, we have to drag them out. My wife loves the group exercise classes and has even started working out with a personal trainer...My 14 year old and I are able to spend some great time together lifing weights....and after the workout, the whole family heads to the pool for family swim time! Awesome experience!! Pros: everything more

Great place to work out whether your a serious fitness buff or looking for a casual workout 3/20/2007

Great club. Its's well equiped with everthing you need. Whether you are someone who likes to work out on machines or are committed to free weights, it's here. The club is always clean and the staff friendly. If you've never used a personal trainer, I highly recommend that you try one for at least few sessions. You can get so much more out of your workout time with a trainer. Treat yourself to a smoothie after your workout. Pros: Trainers. Service. Cleanliness. Hours of operation. Price/Value-no high pressure sales, no long term contracts more

TOP-NOTCH KID's CLUB 3/20/2007

Spectrum Athletic Clubs is the best fitness facility I have ever been apart of. Their customer service skills are out of this world. All the equipment is maintained and never not in working order. I am most impressed with their Kid's Club. My two boys love to play while I work out. I also like the fact that my oldest can work out with me. I believe that this promotion of Family Fitness is vital to the overall wellness of our children. I would recommend Spectrum to anyone that is looking for a fitness club membership. Finally, I must say that their personal training staff is fantastic. Their work ethic and commitment to excellence is exactly what I need to reach my fitness goals. In closing, Spectrum is absolutely the best fitness facility in San Antonio. Pros: Kid's Club, Classes, Locker Rooms more

Best Dance Class Ever! 3/20/2007

I've tried all the health clubs in SA, but none have compared to this one! The staff is always so friendly, and I'm addicted to the ""Cardio Groove"" dance class. My son loves the kids area, he even spent his spring break there in camp! It was awesome! The club is always clean, and I never have to wait to use the equipment. If you're looking for a new club, the search is over. Pros: hours, equipment, classes, everything Cons: Nothing more

Awesome club 3/19/2007

This club is great! I've been a member of Golds and Ballys and this place takes the cake- big time! Clean, friendly, great stuff for the kids, plenty of equipment, etc. It just feels better than other places. They even have this program that pays to workout and be active. Go check it out! Pros: Friendly, clean, great equipment, rewards program more

great staff,faciltiies, and programs 3/18/2007

I normally work out 3 to 5 times a week and joined the Spectrum club upon moving to town last year. They have a new program that you earn rewards for doing what I have always done what more could you ask for. Besides being a great facility they have just motivated me to even be more active. Pros: equipment, programming, friendly staff Cons: limited hours on weekends more

Health Club Reimbursement 3/18/2007

I couldnt believe it - I'm getting rewarded to workout and stay active. Weather I'm at the club or just doing activities around my house, Spectrum is going to REWARD me!!! This new program called Health miles, I wear a pedometer, walk, workout, clean house, anything I want and I'm going to earn not only money, but health club reimbursement, personal training, gym bags and t-shirts. How can I go wrong, I pay them money and get it back for being active. This best part is I'm getting in shape at the same time, Pros: Rewards for working out. more

Impressed! 3/14/2007

I was at this Spectrum location this past weekend because my little girl was attending a birthday party at the Spectrum Kids Facility. Have to admit I was quite impressed with several things. The club is spacious, clean and the staff is really welcoming. I had not been to this location, the guy at the front desk was very helpful..... and my workout was great! All the while, my little girl had a GREAT time at the kids club. Who knew a birthday party at a gym would be fun ?!?!?! Pros: TVs on the treadmills, staff more

top notch club, worth every penny 3/14/2007

If you are looking for a health club, trust me, don't waste your time comparing the new Gold's gym at Bandera/1604 to this Spectrum. It is night and day!!! The staff at Spectrum are friendly, not overpowering ""sales"" people, can't say the same for Gold's. The club is never dirty, can't say the same for Gold's. The children's play area is FANTASTIC, can't say the same for Gold's. No ""muscleheads"" at Spectrum, can't say the same for Gold's. Pros: clean, friendly, family atmosphere more
