Spatz Bakery Inc

I grew up eating this bread and have enjoyed it for the last fifty years. Best white bread ever; wonderful yeasty aroma & flavor. We make sure to buy some whenever we go back for a visit, and my parents have shipped it all over the country to family members. Makes awesome grilled cheese & French toast. Unlike the previous reviewers, I remember Spatz as always having holes in it. This is caused by the yeast which makes it so awesome. more

My husband just returned from visiting his family in Saginaws, Mi. He brought a few loaves of bread and I was so astonished about how many holes are in the bread. My husband is 51 years old and he can't believe the quality of the bread is mediocre. Please go back to your old recipe and stop cchesting the customers. My inlaws stopped buying it because of the recent quality of it. Could you also please make it affordable to order because it costs 30.00 for only two loaves to be shipped. Tsk tsk...come on guys you could make a lot of money if you made it affordable to buy 10 loaves. Here is looking at you...great bread but the quality is suffering. Love Michigan from Virginia. Something is different...most loaves I purchase these days have very large "air holes" in the loaf. Never had them ten +/- years ago. Are the bakers taking a short cut? more

My first job, as a 15 year old Arthur Hill student, was at Spatz Bakery with the brothers, Buzz and Bill. I have lived all over the country in the 60 years since then and have yet to find a bread that comes even close to Spatz in the familiar white bag with red and blue lettering. I still miss it and really wish they could take either phone or internet orders and ship. Everyone I knew in Saginaw has either moved away or passed away so I don't know anyone there who could pick some up and send it to me. The store has certainly changed over the years, it looks as if Spatzs either bought out the grocery store (Knight's, I think) and expanded or just plain rebuilt. Bottom Line: BEST BREAD AND BAKERY PRODUCTS ANYWHERE! more

I wish I knew their secret. Spatz bread is the best bread. Great for toasting. It is a wonderful recipe that they use. And toasting it...it has little holes in it that hold the butter and jam. Makes good French style toast also. Served up in wax paper and sealed in paper bags. Old fashion goodness. more
