Spa On The Plaza

I took advantage of a package that included the room rate, a facial and a massage last month.  It was definitely worth it!  My esthetician, Vanessa, was very friendly and my skin looked and felt fantastic afterward.  I think it actually glowed.  My massage therapist, Roy, is also one of the owners.  He was absolutely amazing.  I have had many massages at spas and I honestly must say that was the best massage I have EVER gotten.  The next time I visit Monterey, I will definitely book an appointment with Roy! more

This was the first spa I have ever went to. I got the India Spa day, and I spent about three or so hours. I cannot remember who massaged me, but she was the sweetest woman, who made sure I was very comfortable and let me talk about all the stuff that had been bothering me... so not only did she get all the knots out of my back, but she helped me get a lot off of my chest. The facial was amazing. The complimentary milk lotion smelled wonderful. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave! more

Over the top is the only words I can even begin to express about my recent experience at the Spa on the Plaza. Two years ago I gifted my daughter who lives in Brooklyn, New York to a day of pampering for her birthday, She was 7 months pregnant and had the special Package for women who have special considerations due to their enlarging stomach. Marah had such an amazing experience and felt so nurtured and pampered that when she returned again this year I decided to gift us both with a Sunday afternoon Day of Relaxation and Revitalization. (We both felt like Life had run over us...........)First of all the Transformation of the new remodel is unbelievable. IT is the most beautiful Spa I have been in...We were both amazed and delighted at the complete transformation. Everywhere you look you feel serene, like you are in a Zen Picture with no sense of time, just a sense of peace and well-being. We loved hanging out in the new waiting area, in our robe and slippers, sipping tea, and just BEING......The greatest transformation was the treatments. We both indulged in having a facial, with our feets and hands being dipped in paraffin.......incredible massages, Marah said that was the best massage she ever had.........and the final which I highly recommend Soaking in the oversized Soaking Tub. We both walked out of there in an altered state ..........our faces, hearts and spirits opened up..........The staff was wonderful and I would say a complete transformation for both the giver and receiver........I highly recommend this as a gift to a loved one, it is beyond any material gift.... the gift of returning to yourself.........and I would include yourself also as loved one..... more

I go in to Spa on the Plaza twice a week to get my eyebrows done and love every second. Sylvie is amazing when it comes to doing eyebrows she does wonders!!!! Also everyone at the spa was so kind they have made it feel like my second home. I highly recommend this Spa for any kind of treatments!!! more

I've been going to Spa on the Plaza for years and find myself defensive of this wonderful business. I am a local and a regular client. I am always impressed with the Front Desk staff and all the Therapists I've gone to over the years, especially Tamara, Liz, Lauren and Charles. They are under remodel, because the Hotel is expanding their whole place. The started construction in January, not several months! I think they have done a fabulous job accommodating all their clients with all the craziness I'm sure they are going through. The rooms they temporarily have in the hotel and large and have private bathrooms. I think the quality of a spa is in the Therapists, not the gift cards or remodel confusion. I think they deserve some good comments because the frivolous complaints below do not correctly describe the Spa. I would recommend this spa to anyone. The whole staff greets me by my first name and the Front Desk is always a pleasure to speak to. They have the best skin care lines and I love the Color science makeup. more

The services are top-notch, so even if paying a little more, it can be worth it. I recently had a massage and body wrap after a month oversees and I did need it. Very comfortable. more

Ok... I'm a little disappointed in the reviews I've read about this place. I moved to the area a little over a year ago and finding a new person to perform a brazillian wax is more than a challenge and not something you want to chance. I tried a few spas in the area and never felt comfortable or satisfied for the price I paid. A co-worker recommended Spa on the Plaza to me so I decided to try it out. Not only did I get the best brazillian of my life but it was also about $20 cheaper than other local places I had tried. If anyone is looking for a recommendation Liz at Spa on the Plaza holds the title for best waxing services, by far!! And in response to those complaining about the remodel, I actually enjoyed having my own private bathroom and I was thrilled they did not close the spa during the remodel because I would have been left searching for ANOTHER new esthetician. Speaking of other esthetician's, I had a facial at Quail Lodge, the esthetician and the price cannot beat what I have experienced at Spa on the Plaza. I wish that those who have had not so pleasant experiences there will rethink visiting them. I left one part out, my first visit to Spa on the Plaza was to an Esthetician named Lauren. She left me bruised below!!! I gave the Spa another chance and found Liz. To the spas benefit, Lauren doesn't work there any longer. Pros: Liz, location, price, remodeled and gorgeous more

The front desk staff was rude and selective in who they helped. No one said a word to me after I checked in (10 minutes early). The staff began texting friends and conversating with other (late) patrons. The front desk girl seemed annoyed when I asked about my massage that was already over 15 minutes late. When my massage therapist finally did arrive, SHE was a HE! When I told the staff of this mix-up, the front desk attendant angrily informed me of MY mistake and that I, indeed, had requested a male! I most certainly had not! I had recently undergone surgery and was embarrassed of my healing scars- I was very specific in requesting a female therapist. After realizing I was not getting anywhere with her I reluctantly agreed to have my massage with the mediocre male therapist. After I was escorted to the converted hotel room I couldn't relax due to all of the street noise, the staff members laughing in the halls, the slamming of doors, and the cry of babies being dragged around by confused parents hastily trying to find their hotel rooms. Needless to say, it was an unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there! When I received my credit card statement at the end of the month, the spa had charged me double the price. I was not unkind when I called and asked for a refund and was told I would be contacted the next day by someone in the office who could confirm the charge and reverse it. I was however VERY unkind when after TWO billing cycles and numerous phone calls I had still not been contacted, much less refunded! It was only after I sent management a letter threatening to take legal action did I get a refund of my money and a promotional card offering 10% off my next service- Sunday through Thursday, of course! No one from management actually spoke to me- EVER! What a joke! That entire "spa" is a joke. They have a saving grace in that Lauren. That woman knows her skincare and if it wasn't for her I would have written that place off a long time ago! Pros: Lauren Cons: Everything and everyone else! more
