Better places elsewhere in Fayetteville 9/12/2008

First, I worked as a fitness instructor for 10 years and stopped teaching about 5 years ago because of other job opportunities. I moved here 4 months ago. A fellow co-worker and I looked into the Spa and found out a few things. Did you know that some people do not have to pay to be a member? I was told by a doctor that I work with that I would get a free membership like him because I hold a license to practice medicine. Well, the elite are doctors...they get in free. No contract or fees; everything is waived. I did not meet the criteria because I am a nurse practitioner. With a raised eyebrow, my friend and I still checked out the gym...after work. Some of the group fitness classes you have to pay a fee. It was packed and there was a lot of pressure to join. However, it was very easy to walk a way and join a near buy gym after he insulted my profession. If the NC Board of Medicine can recognize me as a medical provider and gives me a license to practice medicine, what is the Spa's problem? After reading the other posts, I was even more disappointed with the Spa (and decided to make this post). If some members do not have to pay or sign contracts, why are they ""milking"" and deceiving their paying members? Thanks for the warnings in the other posts. Pros: Do not know of any Cons: Sounds like a rip-off and a scam more

Worst Workout Place in Fayetteville; Horrible Management; BIG Rip-off! 9/6/2008

This is definitely a ""no-customer service"" company. Beware, and DO NOT sign a contract with them! They are so intent on getting new customers that they ignore their current members, and don't care if they are unhappy or not. They figure they have you on contract, which basically says you have to die to get out of it. It doesn't matter if they hold up their end of the bargain or not; you are required to keep paying and paying, and they don't respond to calls or letters of complaint. After contacting this company by phone and being ignored, I never imagined that a letter to the management would go unanswered. When 2, 3, and eventually 4 went unanswered, I was really at my wit's end. How do these places that have zero customer service stay in business? The only reason I can come up with is that they keep luring in new customers, and then they play hardball is you aren't satisfied, holding you to your 3 year contract. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY! Pros: Nice Building Cons: No customer service, over-crowded, horrible, horrible mis-management, too expensive, pricey contracts more

This place is just one big problem!!! 1/28/2008

DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT sign a contract with this gym!!! My husband and I made that mistake after a recommendation from a friend of ours. We wished that we never would have listened to him! Before we even signed the contract with them. We made sure we would be able to get out of the contract or at least freeze the contract if he deployed and I move back home. They said yes, well this was a BIG FAT LIE!!! When it came time for my husband to deploy they said we needed to go talk to the company that takes care of the contracts/billing. When we went to talk to them they said that we could not freeze the contracts and that they couldn't talk about it anymore without an appointment. They only do appointments on Thu. between certain times. Then when we asked them for one they could not get us one before we left. And didn't even try to fit us in! So I ended up having to deal with them over the phone. I would have rather had my teeth drilled with no meds than deal with these people! After a long drawn out talk and argument. I found out that they will nether freeze nor cancel my husbands contract. And that we still had to pay even though he was over seas. They said that they reimburse you by letting you use the gym for the amount of time you were gone, after you are done paying for your contract. So we ended up having to pay for my husbands contract for almost 2 years before we could get out of it. To which we had to pay our way out and nothing was taken out of the total payment for the time that he had been gone that we paid for. Not only did we have these problems with his contract, but it took me almost 2 months or so to get out of my contract. That is with me living across the U.S. no where near a Spa gym and with the right documentation. We do not recommend this gym to anyone. In fact we tell anyone that asks to STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!! For the good of your sanity and your pocket book, STAY FAR AWAY AND DO NOT SIGN ANY TYPE OF CONTRACT WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! Pros: I don't think there were any! Cons: Way over priced, a pain in the rear end, not worth the trouble! more

overpriced, overcrowded, no way out 6/21/2007

I joined the Spa after receiving a ""free"" 2 week membership. I was lured in to pick up the ""free"" membership and was talked into accepting a membership at a supposedly bargain price. I was also under the impression that I would be let out of my contract if I deployed or moved. \r So, here is the truth:\r 1. After work hours there are not enough cardio machines to accomodate all the members that want to use them. There is a waiting list and 20 min limit at cardio machines at the Eutaw location. (If I would have turned around and looked over my shoulder during the tour I would have seen the one small sign on the wall, but didn't turn my neck that far during the tour)\r 2. I tried to cancel when my long work hours wouldn't permit me to go to the Spa, and since I moved further from their location there were closer gyms.\r 3. Classes are sometimes cancelled without notice (I found this out after driving all the way to a location across town for a class)\r 4. Don't expect a quiet peaceful yoga environment, the sounds from the gym go through the walls, and the pool is next to the cardio/yoga room.\r 5. If the salesman says you can cancel due to deployment, this is false. They will freeze your membership and you will have that much longer of a contract when you get back. If you move you have to have mail at your NEW address to cancel, so expect to pay until you relocate and actually live in the new house and receive mail.\r Resist the high pressure sales tactics and check out other gyms, if you are still interested stop by after work and see how crowded the tiny cardio room is. Pros: ambience Cons: high price, not enough space, no way out of contract if you deploy with the military more

Looking For Comitted Souls: Gym Membership From Hell! 7/28/2006

I believe this is a purely evil organization. I am not joking. The business owners have got to be motivated by purely selfish reasons. How else could a business not allow it's customers to EVER leave their contract unless they are military service members who are moving or are getting deployed?? They told my husband that is the only way he can cancel this contract he has had with them for over a year. They are like the devil signing up souls for a lifetime commitment to their evil gym. They offer the gym membership from hell. Please do not be fooled by their good looks. Every month, we pay these bastards $55 because we have to & they say we can't cancel the contract. He won't even work-out here because he feels so depressed about them taking our money & he can't do anything to stop it. It was a stupid thing my husband did before we were married, and he knows it now, and so do you: DO NOT SET FOOT IN THIS EVIL BUSINESS! Now that he is getting deployed, they say we have to call this OTHER business to make an appointment with them to cancel his gym membership with this place. Well, this place only does these appointments between 9-2 on Thursdays. They said they could squeeze him in on a certain Thursday far past the date he is supposed to be deployed on. This fitness center makes me so angry. more
