I grew up in a very religious church that preached the bible word for word and was very judgemental so to say I was guarded when I first started attending Southlake is an understatement (sat by the door and didn't close my eyes to pray LOL.) Most people were very nice and inviting. No community of people in society or in church is perfect as a whole or individuals but most people here were great and still are. Nobody is perfect and that's fine with them. I'm GLAD tattoos, divorce, or the way any individual votes are not things someone is judged by here! I'm very glad that the weekly positive message refers to the bible but is mostly a practical USEFUL message for the rest of the week. A pastor there once said something I found helpful for understanding the church, ""We want to be a hospital for sinners not a hotel for saints."" It makes me feel invited to come as I am, that my relationship with God matters more than my relationship/position in a church. A blessing. more

The first time I stepped foot in Southlake Church I knew this was the place for me. Everyone was very nice, sat in chairs not pews, drank coffee and listened to one of the best pastors I have ever heard. Very down to earth, warm and inviting. Come as you are, Dress how you would like.. jeans, shorts etc. \r \r The sermons are very well organized and easy to follow. Not all over the board like some churches. One of the best places for Christian music you will ever hear! Church based on a relationship with Christ not religion. Need to go.. you will love it! First, let me say that I'm more conservative in my religious/spiritual viewpoint than some - we all differ. I would say I'm more of a hardline Christian than most given we live in the Pac NW. That said, while Southlake is a Christian-based church, given the location (Stafford/West Linn), the average adult there is fairly well off, and this can take on a laissez-faire attitude when it comes to honestly and critically living the life God/Christ wants. This seemed to be prevalent in the teaching. More liberal / 'new age' in it's base than the doctrine that more bible-based churches center on. Nice people, but not for me.
