Our 1993 Mazda 626 started running rough while we were in Pittsfield for the summer. So, I first took it to Bob's on Elm ST, but they said they couldn't look at it for a few days because they were temporarily down a mechanic due to surgery. They suggested I try South ST Service. South ST Service was also busy, but we went ahead and scheduled an appointment. After dropping the car off at South ST Service, they quickly diagnosed the problem: a faulty fuel injector. Unfortunately, the fuel injector could not just be cleaned but had to be replaced. They quoted me a price for just replacing the fuel injector, and I decided to bring the car back a few days later after the part came in. When I brought the car back in, I asked them to change the transmission fluid with some Lucas transmission fluid I had purchased separately, and we also confirmed that it would be a good idea to change the oil as well. When I came back in the afternoon, the car ran great, and they ended up charging me $70 less than what they originally quoted me for just replacing the fuel injector, even though they had also changed the oil and transmission fluid. I was very pleasantly surprised because I expected them to charge me even more than they initially quoted with the extra work we added on.
Pros: Very amiable and knowledgeable. Got it fixed on the first try.
Cons: They seem to have a lot of customers, so call first to make an appointment.
