Soulard Coffee Garden

Soulard Coffee Garden appears to be a well-kept secret for many St. Louisans--a shame. This is a great place for coffee, bagels, brunch, lunch, or dessert. You'll be overwhelmed by the number of plates they offer as well as the quality of the food. Their brownies will set you free and their omelettes are always unique. Sit down to french toast with fresh fruit and spicy potato hash browns, and indulge in the endless cups of coffee. The brick-lined garden in the back features a small bridge, tables tucked into nooks and crannies, and flowers. Wander upstairs to find a surprisingly large room that doubles as an art gallery, dancing room, and poetry-reading room during the week. A perfect close to a morning spent at the Soulard farmer's market. more

Soulard Coffee Garden is a great place to get some satisfying food/drinks. There are a few outside tables, tho the pleasure is to sit inside, on the first floor, and do some people watching early in the mornings. :) Second floor is nice if no one is smoking, otherwise it gets stuffy. Food is excellent. I dont know if they have a master chef somewhere in there. They use the freshes ingredients, and wonderful sauces, ice cream, and fruit is so sweet (there's no grassy-watery taste to their melons and strawberries). Things I like there are: all the milkshakes, especially the Nutty Cocoa Monkey (choc shake with peanut butter) great pick me up. most of the breakfast items, especially the quiche and the huge fruit bowl with some yogurt. most of the sandwiches and salads. i love the turkey and provologne and veges. this is a great place that my husband and i frequent in the hot summer days to sit inside, read the paper from 10am to 2pm and enjoy mouthwatering food. more
