The sun is about to set on SONNY""S 11/15/2009

We were long time customers, but that doesn't seem to matter to the people at Sonny's. Called them to make them aware of a problem with four sandwiches we had just pick-up,and instead of apologizing they tried to make it sound like I was wrong! Never offered to try to make it right or offer any type of solution.\r I seems like Sonny's is just another example of a long running family business who has become complacent and comfortable because they think they are the only game in town. Well guess what Sonny's we now have a Primos in town! Better bread, more meat and NO ATTITUDE. Pros: The bread was the only thing going for them Cons: No meat, stale bread, bad service more

Fantastic 9/9/2007

I love Sonny's. It's a great little place with fantastic food. The soft pretzels are great, especially with the Gorgonzola cheese spread! Actually, I'm going to Sonny's today to get sandwiches. Yum. I'm so glad that I can get amazing hoagies without having to venture into the city. Pros: Amazing food that you'll crave. Cons: Small place, that you might just drive right by. more

Best hoagie in the suburbs 4/20/2007

My family has been going to Sonny's Deli since they opened. It?s run by the nephew of Louis Sarcone (Sarcone?s Bakery and Sarcone?s Deli on ninth street in Philly), and it?s one of the only places that we have been able to find in Philadelphia suburbs that has real hoagies. The trick is the bread, and it?s from Sarcone?s. Sarcone?s bakery has been baking bread since the about 90 years, and when I lived downtown, if a hoagie was not made with Sarcone?s bread?it wasn?t a hoagie. Sonny?s Deli has it?s bread delivered from the downtown bakery every morning, and they use the same meats and cheeses. I see somebody complaining about the service, but I always get great and friendly service. And the staff has a real ?South Philly? sense of humor! The plan is to open two more deli?s in NJ soon, one in Cherry Hill, and one in Haddonfield ? I have in-laws in NJ, and they can?t wait!\r \r By the way, another good hoagie can be found at Talluto?s in Norristown in the West Norriton Industrial Park. Talluto?s also has a store on 9th street in Philly, and this is their suburban location where they make all of the pasta products they distribute to local restaurants and deli?s. Talluto's also makes a great hoagie for take-out (I don?t know where they get their bread, but it?s similar to Sarcone?s). Pros: Best hoagie Cons: Remote location more

Lack of options 4/2/2007

Food is decent for the area, but it wouldn?t hold up to real philly food. The service, however, does match the Philly rudeness that we all have come to know and love. Usually, people put up w/ that type of service (or lack there of) from places w/ well known food. Sometimes I think these places write best of philly on a sign and hang it in their front window. Although, Sonny?s did in fact get voted on someone?s list once?. it was back in ?95 and I don?t think they came in first. The store is filled w/ a bunch of hoagie makers that hate their lives and try to carry off an attitude (ambiance) similar to a Steve?s Steaks, etc? Steve?s gives attitude, but you get your food in minutes and it is Worth it. I?ll probably go there again because it isn?t that bad compared to the horse meat that these other places serve. Pros: Better than horse meat Cons: Attitude w/ out the good food more

AWESOME FOOD, GREAT PLACE TO GO. 2/25/2007

I have been going to sonny's since the building they are in was the old farmers market. I love there food. I stop in everytime I get in the area. I even sent some of there stuff overnight to some of my friend in other states. I love there south philly italion the most but I have never had anything bad from there. I find the employees there to be very nice. I always look forward to going and trying new things there. Pros: Great Food, Good parking, Friendly Staff, and always something new to try Cons: Sometime You have to wait a while, But all good things take time, and its worth the wait. more

Great Sanwiches, so many delicious choices 7/12/2006

If your looking for a quick delicious place to eat, Sonny's is a must!! The first time I went there I tried the Booch, it was an amazing combination of flavors, their roast beef is delicious. Since then I go back and it seems theres always a new hoagie to try, I highly recommend the Eagle, Turkey or Chick Aburuzzi, or the Pesto Roast Beef. I love Sonny's because their sanwiches have such unique flavors, definitly not your average run of the mill hoagie. more

Outstanding sandwhiches, chicken cutlets, meatballs, homemade roast beef and pork 7/12/2006

Been dining here for quite a number of years.....food is always excellent. Staff has always been accomodating handling special requests, special orders etc. The chicken cutlets, roast beef and roast prok are the best. Nothing like a Sat afternoon sandwhich at Sonny's. Try the homemade meatball..........WOW Pros: Great location. fast service Cons: close to early on Tue and Wed more

BEST SANDWICHES IN TOWN 7/12/2006

i HAVE BEEN GOING TO SONNY'S DELI FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND I ALWAYS AM GREETED WITH A SMILE. AT LUNCH TIME IT CAN GET QUITE BUSY, AND YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT A BIT, BUT WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET A SLAMMIN SANDWHICH! MAYBE ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST DAM DELI IN TOWN!!!! i'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY ORDER AND FOR THOSE WHO CLAIM THEY HAVE, WELL EVERONE MAKES MISTAKES...NOBODY'S PERFECT AND I,M SURE IT WASNT INTENTIONAL. I ASSURE ANYONE WHO TAKES A TRIP TO SONNYS WILL LEAVE QUITE SATISFIED AND RETURN FOR MORE OF THERE OUTSTANDING FOOD. MY FATHER LIVES IN FLORIDA, AND EVERYTIME HE COMES UP TO VISIT, HE HAS TO GO TO SONNYS AND GET A SONNYS SPECIAL. HE BASICALLY LIVES ON THEIR FOOD THE WHOLE TIME HE IS IN TOWN. IN MY OPINION I GIVE SONNYS DELI 5 STARS!!!! more

great food, call your order in ahead the bread comes up fresh from South Philly everyday. 7/12/2006

Sonny's Italian deli is a staple in the limerick area, they are a small deli that has survived the boom of growing businesses in the area. IF YOU WANT A GREAT SANDWICH this is the place to go. It is best that you call your order in, the bread comes up fresh from the family owed bakery in South Philly everyday. It is good to have a place around that you can walk into and they know the sandwich that you will order. The employees are friendly and very accomadating to your needs. more

Thier quality ingredients make a great hoagie, friendly staff, a ton of menu options 7/12/2006

I've been eating at Sonny's for years simply because they have the BEST hoagies. All of their cheeses, meats, etc.. come from goodole south philly home of the Italian market Even their meatballs, chic parm, eggplant, pepper shooters are homemade. My favorite is the Eagle (Bals.Vin, Turkey, Asparagus, & Fresh Mozz). Yumm!! Pros: Very accomidating, make everything fresh more

Very disappointed 1/19/2006

Unfortunately, we gave this place a chance twice and I was shocked at the poor- and lack of- customer service. We had a problem with an order the 2nd time and they were very rude and did not do anything to accommodate us. They also don't know how to run orders/checks in an organized manner and people sit waiting, wasting time while they sort through it and make no apologies. To be honest, the bread is the only thing that makes the sandwich, and I've heard this from many people. Save your money and go elsewhere. Pros: not ever crowded, good parking Cons: poor customer service, disorganized, location more

Poor Customer Service 12/30/2005

Basically, the attitude is poor- customer is wrong before the employees are, as they are mostly family members. They don't care if you are a long-time customer. They don't know how to get people in and out of the door and so at times you will WAIT and WAIT and they will make it ""your fault"". This has happened enough I told them I was not coming back and they said ""We don't need anyone's business, we are fine."" Pros: average food, good bread, good parking Cons: horrible attitude, cant handle crowds more
