Janeen sets up a welcoming atmosphere that relaxes you immediately. You know you are in good hands. The time and care she took to create the the best possible eyebrows for me was impressive. I can't imagine going to anyone else. more

When it comes to eyebrow shaping and tinting, your face is a blank canvas, and Janeen is an artist -- truly. Not only is she incredible at her craft but she offers the most detailed and personalized service of any beauty service provider I have ever been to. She takes time studying the shape of your face and eyes, and the curve of your brow bone as well as the condition of your eyebrows (color, too thin or too thick, arch, any skin imperfections, etc) and then ""designs"" them to accentuate your best features and minimize anything not so great (eye spacing, nose, etc.). She also does the most amazing facials using all-natural, botanical ingredients. She's a calm, friendly person and her workspace is incredibly quiet and relaxing (unlike most busy full-service spas) . Allow for plenty of time when you go to see her, because she's a bit of a perfectionist. But that's a good thing and the time spent is well worth it! more

I have been in the slow (torturous) process of growing out my eyebrows that I let get a little too thin for my face over the years. Janeen has been amazing. I had already let them grow in a little bit by the time I found her, but she has completely changed them! She really takes your whole face, look and even personality into account when shaping your brows. She's very thorough and will give you her input on what she thinks will work best for your face. She takes her time, steps back, really looks, thinks about it, puts on these crazy bug-eye magnifying glasses and looks like the mad scientist of eyebrows. It's fantastic! Also, she explains what she's doing and why she's doing it before she moves on to taking out (or not taking out) more hair. She is extremely deliberate with each hair. Which I really like because someone changing your eyebrows is essentially changing your whole face and can be very scary. Basically I just let them grow in and train the hairs to lay on my face the right way and she shapes and cleans them up. I have been getting absolutely non-stop compliments (even from my oblivious boyfriend!) on my eyebrows and how great they look now- even though they're not fully grown in yet, they're already so much thicker and beautiful. You wouldn't even notice that I'm growing them in anymore and it's only been a few months. She is naturally very soothing and the whole experience is very spa-like. You walk in, she gives you clean slippers and a drink, maybe even a little fruit (I got lemon water, or maybe it was tea, and pineapple on my first visit). Then she takes notes and has an individual file on every client. This way she knows what products work best for your skin (any allergies, the shape you want, etc). At the end of your eyebrow shaping experience (which includes soothing music the whole way through), she gives a VERY relaxing face/neck massage. The lotions she uses smell so good I want to eat them. And then she uses this low-toned bell. I can't explain it but when she rings it and puts it next to my ears, the vibrations it gives send chills all over! I know it sounds weird but it's my favorite part. I nearly fall asleep and the session ends with me leaving so relaxed I'm nearly dazed, a face that smells good enough to eat and eyebrows that for the first time in my life are getting compliments! more

Janeen has been doing my brows and facials for years, and it's a heavenly experience every time. First, Janeen has created a lovely and relaxing environment. She greets you with slippers and something refreshing to drink. Next she will sit down with you and take all sorts of notes to make sure she is providing the best possible individualized service for you. I have extremely sensitive skin so I am very grateful for this level of care. Janeen also writes lots of notes after your treatment so she has a record of which products, etc. work best for you. I have been going to Janeen for my brows for the past three years and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her. First of all, she shapes brows beautifully. Before seeing Janeen, I spent a lot more money for brow shaping at fancy places on the West Side, and I can honestly say that Janeen is the best! In addition to shaping, she also tints my brows to give them extra definition. The result is really fantastic and I now get compliments on my brows all the time! In addition to fantastic brows, Janeen has really created a very calming and peaceful envirnment. I am always greeted with cucumber or pomegranant water and cozy slippers. After brow shaping, she always give a temple/head/neck massage that is really heavenly. Finally, Janeen is truly a lovely person. Having had an experience in my past where someone butchered my brows while waxing, I am very cautious as to who I allow even LOOK at them under a light. I finally found a place that will have my loyalty from here on in. Janeen is simply the best at what she does. I am thrilled at the way my face looks when she is done with my brows. My eyes look amazingly open and bright. Today, I treated myself to a facial for the first time. So relaxing that I didn't want to get off the table. (2 hours later) My skin felt so clean and soft, and the darkness under my eyes was so much lighter that it took years off my appearance. Skip the commercial places that throw a little steam on you, squeeze the black heads, and then throw some masks on you while walking out of the room for 20 minutes at a time. Janeen is the real deal! Visiting Janeen at Sonata Skin care is truly a heavenly experience. Janeen has carefully perfected a spa experience with literally every second of your appointment. Not only was I made to feel as if I were swept away on a vacation with tranquil background music, aromas of essential oils, and tricking water fountains, I was pampered with amazing products while being massaged, and truly educated about skin. I've had numerous facials before, however have never worked with someone as kind, calming, and educated as Jeneen. She is truly an expert in her field. After receiving a facial from her, I'd never again go anywhere else. She also tweezed my eyebrows and shaped them in a way I have never had done. It literally changed the look of my face, my husband said (without knowing that I'd had a service), ""what's different about you...you look different, I love whatever you did!!!!"". Now he's even sold on Sonata skin care. What more can I say, she's awesome in every aspect, and going elsewhere to me would now seem like 2nd rate and a waste of money. I'm hooked! Besides being a lovely person who is attentive, sensitive, highly skilled and really an artist at her work, what I also like is the deep relaxation I experience in her studio. You can just let go and release all your tension and cares while being pampered and well-cared for. It's like a mini retreat. I leave with not only beautiful eyebrows and glowing skin, but a deep sense of peace and well-being that comes out of the relaxation and the calm energy she shares. I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. more

I never thought it made much of a difference where I had my eyebrows ""done,"" but Janeen's careful, attentive artistry left me with the best eyebrows EVER! The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable -- sort like yoga without the work! Don't be fooled by her humble studio -- Jannen is a true artist and could be charging you triple at some swanky Beverly Hills salon. In a word, okay, two words, SIMPLY AMAZING! I've had facials at other salons and spas before coming to Sonata and my skin usually looks great for a few days. I went to Janeen and my skin glowed for several weeks. She doesn't have a one-size fits all standard facial for everyone - she spends time asking you questions about your skin, skin care ritual, products you use, diet, lifetsyle, etc and examines your skin carefully before deciding what type of facial you need and what products to use. She spends her time making sure she does a great job and it never feels rushed. The products she uses are fantastic and she sent me home with some great samples which kept my skin looking great for even longer. I'm hooked ! I'm pretty picky and hate wasting money on beauty splurges unless it makes a noticeable difference. Sonata Skin Care is well worth it. She's also fantastic at shaping eyebrows - tinting too. I just had a facial from Janine today and it was the best I've ever received by far. She sets the standard for how facials should be done. She paid attention to the smallest details about my skin and customized the treatment just for me. Plus she gives an amazing massage. I'm a massage therapist and I was thinking of how I could incorporate some of her techniques into my massage because they felt great! She loves what she is doing and it flows through her. Plus her space is very comfortable and serene. I'm so glad I met Janeen and I'm looking forward to future sessions. Plus I can't wait to get my brows done. I have been going to Janeen for the past 8 years since I moved to the LA area. I happened upon her by chance and I have to say that she is the best in my book. I have gone to others in the past 8 years, usually because I am on vacation or gift certificates from friends, but everyone pales in comparison. Her style suits me and her perfection suits my skin and my eyebrows. In fact I buy friends gift certificates to go to Janeen and they usually end up staying with her long term, even if they have to DRIVE a bit and some all the way from THE WEST SIDE. :) Pros: Everything Cons: Not One more
