THE WORST 4/28/2012

I wouldnt even give this place 1 star but i have to give it a rating. They werent busy, there were at least 6 open tables yet we waited for a half an hour before they even greeted us then we had to wait longer to be seated. We has a groupon for four that included 2 appetizers of your choice, 4 entrees of your choice and 2 sakes. Well its not of your choice we got to pick between dumplings and seafood pancakes and they said that each entree counts as 2 so we were only allowed 2 plates of meat and a couple bowls of funky dried out sides and white rice. We attempted to get one sake and 4 sodas bacause 1 sake cost $9 and 4 sodas would be $8 but they refused and then refused to bring us the second sake because apparently 1=2 there. And then they wanted us to pay extra for something that we didnt get. Meanwhile the table of asain people behind us had no problems, just sayin. We left hungry and angry. Will NEVER go back and we will make sure everyone we know hears of this experience. more

wow, this place sucks. 12/21/2010

Eat here if you want to overpay for something that tastes like someone took a dump on a plate and let it sit out till it reached room temperature. Or just go to Mitsuwa and get good tasting Korean food more

Good Korean BBQ 10/16/2009

We arrived, a family of 4 and were the first people there a little before 6pm on a Friday night. We are caucasian and were the only non asians there; we were not made to feel out of place or unwelcome AT ALL. There was just the one waitress, a brusque, no nonsense type woman but she's very efficient and smiled a lot at our 3 year old little girl. As soon as we sat down, three more large families arrived as well as two couples. It took one family a few minutes of standing in the doorway before the waitress seated them. Our food was brought out very quickly. It was all very good. We had the seafood pancake, which was excellent. We also has a pork and kimchi casserole, very good also. Jap Chae which was pretty good and we had bulgogi on the bbq! The kimchi sides were plentiful and tasty too. A lot of food and we brought leftovers home. Overall, a nice place to eat. The waitress worked her buns off and I give her much credit for keeping everyone happy! Would have been nice to see at least one other server there. It would have made it seem less of an imposition to ask for more water or a fork for my daughter, etc. We would go back to this place. Pros: authentic, clean, great pancake Cons: One waitress on a Friday night?! more

Their Kalbi or Galbi is one of the best ethnic dishes 6/19/2009

I had some colleages visiting from Korea so I checked the area for nice Korean restaurant and decided to give it a try. \r \r My first impression was that their tables and chairs were very clean. It looked like they recently remodeled. Obviously in order for me to give a good rating, the place must be clean. \r \r Now the service. Some reviewers mentioned that the wait staff can't speak English. Well, for me I really didn't care since we have folks visiting from Korea so they can order in Korean as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, the head waitress was able to speak English fluently. Certainly not the mother tongue but she spoke to our group in bilingual. No complain at all. \r \r Finally the food. The waittress recommended Korean dumpling for appetizer. Per her explanation, she said that it's made inhouse and she won't charge unless it's absolutely delicious. Well, so we went for it. Man, served hot and fresh. Good stuff! \r \r Now to the main course. We chose the Kalbi (not sure whether it's Galbi) but it's the Korean style beef short rib. Very flavorful. I get to cook it on the table so it was fun. Waittress certainly helped our group with cooking the meat and showed us the ""proper"" way to eat it. Good stuff! My Korean colleagues thanked me for picking a good restaurant. We are definitely coming back. \r \r One drawback is that they don't carry dessert menus and pointed us to an adjacent Korean Cafe. \r \r Overall, had a great time and food!\r \r Dustin from Schaumburg Pros: Good food Cons: Nothing really more

yummy, authentic food 2/19/2008

The food is wonderful, and it is all you can eat BBQ! The BBQ is really good and it is really a great deal for your money. Other good dishes are the seafood pancake, but the BBQ is what you should go for. Pros: food, parking more

One of the best Korean restaurant in town 11/11/2007

I recently went there for some good Korean food and this is definitely one of the top Korean restaurants in Schaumburg. This is a clean and well maintained restaurant with modern decor. They are currently showcasing Korean BBQ buffet (Kalbi and other variety. If you like meat, you would love this deal. I'm more of a soup guy. If you are too, I recommend Sea food Jun gol or A-gu-jjim. For appetizer, sea food pancake is excellent. Pros: Great food reasonable price more

Service is horrible 6/30/2007

service is horrible and waiters/waitresses don't speak English, costumers laugh loudly and shout at the waiters. Will not go to this restaurant again. more

Love the Galbi and seafood carousel 12/16/2006

I was skeptical about this place with mixed reviews. But I had a blast on Sat evening. When we were there, the place was busy so my friends and I had to wait a while. We didn't make reservations, but we should've since it was Sat dinner. Anyways, the owner greeted us and tried to explain the menu. Yes, she's not the native speaker but for her recommendations, we tried the Kalbi and Seefood carousel and ordered the seefood pancake as well. The kalbi was very fresh and tender. We enjoyed cooking it outside and wrapping the meat in lettuce! Seafood carousel came out with the gas burner so we cooked it outside as well. If you enjoy seeing your food getting cooked in front of you, you'll love this combination. We are definitely coming back. If you like rice wine, gotta try Korean Soju. Happy Christmas if you celebrate one. Otherwise, happy holidays! :) Pros: Tasty! Cons: busy on Weekends more

you gotta check it out for yourself! 9/10/2006

a coworker recommended this place to me and i went with my family...i have been to many korean restaurants in the city and in the suburbs, but this place is definitely worth checking out for yourself! great food and great service...i've been back several times since then, and everything we have tried tasted delicious and the service is always friendly and consistent. their gal bi bbq is one of the best in chicago! Pass 9/7/2006

This was our third time here, and for the third time could someone there SPEAK ENGLISH!\r You would think there would be somebody there that could communicate. Pros: close to home Cons: language barrier more

Terrible Korean food and terrible service. 8/18/2006

Tried to pass dark meat chicken off as white breast meat. My wife a culinary professional ordered the dish. They claimed it was chicken breast. Yeah right, it happened to be leg meat cut off in pieces. Who are they trying to fool? Complained and received boiled beef ribs instead. Yuck! The place is horrible. Pros: You must be joking? Cons: Looks fancy but the food isn't. more

Excellent Food - Great service 2/23/2006

Great Korean food 1/25/2006

I go to this restaurant 3 or 4 times a week for lunch because their lunch menu has so many varieties from Bulgogi (marinated slices of beef b.b.q.) to different Korean traditional soups (some spicy some mild) to grilled fish. If you like spicy food, try the codfish soup which is very healthy with lots of vegetables. The Bibimbop is another really healthy choice. Of course, the b.b.q. is great for lunch or dinner. You should definitely check this place out and I'm sure you will be going back for more! Pros: exellent food, great service, very affordable more

outstanding Korean food! 1/20/2006

My family and I have gone to many Korean restaurants in the city and western suburbs, but this place is our absolute favorite. Stellar food! Try the homestyle soups and bibimbop. We're not Korean, but we're always greeted as warmly as if we were family. Pros: consistent, friendly, great parking more

It was one of the best Korean food I had. 11/10/2005

They are located in Shamburg, IL, north suburd of Chicago. Service was excellent. We went on Saturday and it was busy. Their Gal Bi BBQ was one of the best Gal Bi I had in Chicago. You must try their BBQ menus. Pros: Inexpensive, lot of free sidedish, good parking more

I highly recommend Solliphana for anyone who likes Korean food. I go there regularly and I've always been happy with the quality of the food and the service. I especially love the barbeque Galbi and squid and their hot pot bibimbop. Pros: inexpensive, good parking, good area more
