Gives a bad name to Jewish Delis 1/26/2009

This is a horrible horrible place, and should be ashamed to serve such garbage. I've lived in the valley for 10 years and have given this restaurant 3 chances, each time leaving with a vow to never return. First of all, their ""gourmet"" sandwiches should be called ""Highway robbery sandwiches."" I ordered their mozzarella sandwich on panni bread - know what I got? A horrible piece of panni bread with one thin slice of mozzarrella for damn near $15.00. Mazo ball soup consisted of an undercooked matzo ball with one chicken leg shreed apart flotaing in the soup - veins and all. Most of the employees were gathered around gossiping in Spanish! Hello . . . . this is America. I hate this place and will never ever return. I hope is bellies up. Pros: Although over priced like everything else, onion rings were ok. Cons: Has the gall to overcharge for garbage food. more

Bad, Bad, Bad 11/16/2008

The servers at this restaurant are consistently bad. I usually sit at the bar for breakfast. I ask them for buttered toast, they bring me cold bread with hard butter that you would need a jackhammer to slice through. Why don't they bring the bill when they bring the food. I'm always sitting around waiting for my waitress to bring the bill. Today I waited for almost ten minutes. What's worse, is that other waitresses will pass you by, realizing that you are waiting for something and they just keep looking straight ahead. The attitudes are pathetic. I guess when you're this close to Hollywood, you think you're a star. The only thing these waitresses are waiting for is a tip and the end of their shift. No more. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN. EVER!!!! SERVICE LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T EXIST IN AMERICA. Pros: I've never died after eating there Cons: But I felt like I might more

Good all-around deli, GREAT bakery 2/11/2007

I've been going here since long before Jerry's Famous Deli bought it out. Great selection and even greater menu. You will not go hungry here, even if you have to pawn off your necklace to pay for it. Check out the bakery after eating. All the baked goods are great and for reasonable prices (surprisingly). Check out the Red Velvet Cake -- it's a welcome surprise. Pros: Huge menu, BAKERY Cons: Prices more

HUGE menu, convienient location 11/27/2006

The menu is huge, it's a good place to go if you don't really know what you feel like eating. It's also really close to the 101 freeway. The food is overpriced but everything is pretty good and the portions are large. I like all the soups, the free pickles, and the rye bread. It's usually pretty noisy in the dining room but they have outdoor seating too. The service is really good sometimes and invisible at other times. Check out the bakery before you leave for some cookies or other sweets to take home. They also have a big selection of free local magazines near the door. Pros: Gigantic menu Cons: too pricey more

You're All American ... 7/21/2005

I began going to Solley's several months ago and have since made it a regular breakfast spot ... a lot of the food is admitedly just okay, but if you want a basic breakfast that is consistently great then you will love the All American. It is just that ... all american. You get two of the best pancakes ever (I suggest upgrading to Banana or Blueberry), a healthy portion of eggs, and bacon AND sausage (you can substitute hash browns for the meat if you want) all for a great price. Pros: Good Coffee, Generally Friendly, Parking Cons: Loud more

Why? 3/12/2005

I often go here. Like the pickles I guess. But honestly nothing is really good. I don't think I am spoiled, it's ust that it's somewhat substandard. Dry overcooked hamburgers with cold bread. ""Oily"" onion rings with that taste that you know comes from the oil not being changed often enough. Bad short ribs. Cold cob (when you get it). I probably go again, but will be dissapointed. Pros: Location, parking, TV Cons: food more

Solley's 8/22/2004

Solleys used to me a great deli to eat at 15 years ago. Now, it is like Jerrys low quality food at a high price. There are many other East Coast delis in the valley that are cheaper, and better tasting food. Pros: Nice deli enviroment more

Everything but the kitchen sink 6/2/2002

Solley's is a great choice when you really don't know what you want. Why? Because Solley's has one of the most extensive menus you will see anywhere. I usually go for a hearty bowl of matzoh ball soup which hits the spot every time. The sandwiches are very thick and generally come with a choice of side salads. There is a bakery inside and your choices for dessert seem endless. My companion often goes for the chocolate fudge cake - a dark, and very fudgy choice. I like the marzipan cookies. Pros: huge variety, hearty portions more
