Terrible experience 10/13/2011

Any plumber / plumbing company can do a sewer scope and give you a dvd, for me those reviews hold no weight. I had a horrible experience with Soil Solutions replacing the party sewer line at a rental house of mine. Prompt and attentive when doing the bid and setting up the date to begin work, while telling me how much better they were than the other companies, I thought that they would do a great job. Not even close. My job got delayed several times due to other jobs they had. Once they finally started, two weeks late, they did the job differently than what was written in the contract and left it half finished. Over the following 6 weeks it took many, many calls and emails, and multiple trips to the property by Soil Solutions, to finally get the work ""completed"". They still left pieces of pipe, concrete, etc in the yard and did not leave it in better condition than it originally was, as promised. Typical exchange: Me ""The sidewalk still has not been re-poured and there is no safety barrier around it"" Them : ""Really? I didn't know that. Okay, we'll get someone right on that next week when we have some guys free."" They inconvenienced my renter too many times to mention, and inconvenienced me even more as I was forced to micromanage a two month project that should have been finished in a day. The project manager never returned my calls or emails and I was forced to deal with the lower level employees who took several days to return correspondence. They did not end up doing the work properly (no slope for rain drain connection and bizarre, convoluted bends in the pipe run when they had a straight shot) but they refuse to do anything else. I have gotten bids from several other sewer companies to fix the mess, who all have scratched their heads and wondered what Soil Solutions was thinking when they did what they did. I own a lot of rental homes and have used a host of different contracting companies, some good and some bad, for various purposes. Soil Solutions is definitely one of the very bad. I hope that this review saves others from suffering at the hands of Soil Solutions. more

Scan for underground storage tank and soil testing 9/30/2011

Soil Solutions has done several tank scans for me and one soil test. They are very professional and provide prompt service. Even though these are small jobs, they spent as much time as necessary to explain the whole process to me, and what risks were involved. Their reports are comprehensive and their pricing reasonable. I highly recommend them. more

Oil tank removal 4/20/2011

I am a licensed contractor and have used soil solutions a few times on Oil tank Decommissions, the first time we used them they took forever to finish the job, we had a hole in yard for like 2 weeks, finally after 3 phone calls we finally got them out to finish the job, on another job, However once they were out digging, they hit our main water line and broke it, luckly we have installed a bunch of these, but still its costs money mat & labor. but they at least finished in a timely manor. Just make sure they do a good locate so this doesnt happen,(its very common to have the water line or other utilites in the way, so keep that in mind if its close to something it is hard to excavate around a water line or other lines (average depths are placed at 2') more

Sewer Line Replacement 10/22/2010

For various reasons, we have utilized the services from Soil Solutions more than once. Without hesitation we contacted them to provide our most recent, and complicated, sewer line repair.\r \r Everyone was always prompt, responsive and considerate from all internal support staff to the front line repairmen. Soil delivered on schedule complete repair services leaving the site fully restored.\r \r Without hesitation, should the need arise again, they would be my first call. I trust them and totally recommend Soil Solutions as your provider choice. more

Great Company 10/1/2009

Soil Solutions was extremely easy to work with, accommodated my request for expedited service, and did the job in a highly professional manner. The workers were informative, thorough, and professional. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing an underground tank decommissioned. Pros: Easy to work with, professional, knowledgeable more

Very professional 9/28/2009

We had a simple home heating oil underground tank decommissioning. We had three bids, all similar, though Soil Solutions explained the situation and options most thoroughly. We picked them in the end based on gut feeling, recommendations (didn't see this site!) and rival service (CitySearch won't let it be named!) rating. We were very satisfied - all work was done quickly, cleanly, on-time, per quote. They left the site so clean we at first thought they had not yet started till we looked closely. Would happily recommend them. Pros: Quick professional service Cons: None noted more

Horrible Customer Service, Work, and damage! 7/28/2009

We just purchased our first home in Portland. Being first time buyers, we relayed on our realtor for a referral when, as part of inspection, we found that the sewer line needed to be replaced. Soil Solution came out same day to give us a bid (over 4K), but that was the last time they were prompt. They finished the job a week after we were suppose to close on the house (2 weeks late), they waited another week to replace the sidewalk they tore up. Once they ""finished"" we noticed they had cut thru our new sprinkler system. They didn't notify anyone, so the next time the system turn on, it flooded our side yard. We called soil solutions back to ask them to come fix the line. They told us the project manager would call us back. After a week of waiting, and two more phone calls requesting someone come fix the broken pipe, we finally gave up and had our realtor call the owner ""Tony"". Tony called my wife and told her that they did not break the line, and ""even if they did, it's not their responsibility"" I ended speaking with Tony and he yelling at me and, after I told him I was going to send a letter to numerous business rating organizations, he hung up on me. The fix for the broken pipe cost less then 5 dollars, and took no more than 10 minutes. The grief that would have been saved if they would have: 1. Informed someone they broke the pipe, or 2. fixed the damage they caused, would have saved them a very unhappy customer that will never use them again, and the poor review I will end up posting anywhere I see reviews. Beware! When spending four thousand dollars, I'd would have expected at least a little customer service, or at least to NOT be yelled at.. (BTW: I would have given them zero stars, but the site requires at least one ) Cons: Did not finish on time, broke our sprinkler system, etc.. more

Tank Decommissioning and Sewer Replacement 9/2/2008

I think Soil Solutions is a great company. I've used them not only for my personal properties, but have also recommended them many times for tank decommissioning, and for sewer replacement. All have thanked me for the recommendation. They've always been very thorough in explaining what they'll be doing, have always been there on time, and most importantly..... left the work site in good condition! \r Good company run by good people! Pros: They know what they're doing! more

Home Owners and Realtors Beware of this Terrible Company! 8/19/2008

In March of 2005 we hired Soil Solutions to decommission sespools on our property. Excavation was done and only one sespool was found and decommissioned. The existing sewer line that went STRAIGHT from the house to the street was replaced by a sewer line that went out from the house for 10ft then made a 45 degree turn to the left about 10ft and then back 90 degrees to the right about 10ft and then reconnected to the original sewer line. In April of 2005 I received a bill for the decommission of TWO sespools (even though only one was located in March) and after much back and forth and arguing with them they finally dropped the charges for the second sespool.\r In August of 2008 a scope of the sewer line showed that the second bend in the sewer line was not graded (sloped) properly causing sewer water to pool up in that section of pipe. The company that performed the scope could not understand why the sewer line made so many twists and turns.\r I contacted SS and told them about the problem and in the meantime obtained a second opinion and again was told the problem was that we had so many turns in the sewer line instead of the obvious straight line. SS said the ""natural settling"" caused the problem and they were not going to fix it without charging us to do the job all over again. We are now paying close to $1000.00 to repair a defective installation job done by Soil Solutions. I would also like to ad that the Presidant of Soil Solutions, Anthony Bustamonte, was the most difficuIt, unresponsive, and indifferent person I have ever had the pleasure (not) of doing business with. I hope my story and the other review left on citysearch will spare our community from being ripped off by this company! Cons: Everything about this company and Tony more
