I'm an LA native and am constantly scouring this fair city to find places that make me feel like being instantly transported to some other faraway city. That's what I fell in love with at Palihouse. I had to get out of my house for the week due to some construction and needed a place to crash but also wanted to find somewhere that felt allowed me to feel like I was on vacation. It's so hard to find a decent hotel that isn't overrun with tourists or hipsters. When a friend of mine mentioned Palihouse I decided to give it a shot. \r

The decor of the place is right on the money. A mix of a rustic old world european feeling with a modern edge. My room (which was basically a totally decked out apartment) came with everything I needed to survive for the week. I didn't need to go out to eat every night because I had my own fridge and stove. And when I did leave to eat, it was at their courtyard restaurant. And we all know that genuinely good food at a good price is a hard find. \r

Basically everything about my week there was great. It's also just off of Santa Monica blvd. so you're not too far away from the action but also not in the overwhelming center of it all. I could see this becoming the place for people like actors, directors, etc. who are in LA for a long time and don't want to stay in some lame hotel where they are going to be bothered. \r

Very impressed and highly recommended.
Pros: Great decor. Friendly staff.
Cons: Parking was sometimes a drag.
