Smokin Ed's BBQ is the real deal. These guys actually walk to a smoker in the back of the restaurant to get your food when you order.

Moved to Sevierville. Gone WAY Downhill 3/19/2012

This was not what we thought we'd be getting when coming here. We had not been in a few months and it has really gone downhill. The brisket was so dry. The sides were okay, but not good. Even the pulled pork my daughter had just didn't taste right. Unless they go back to there old ways we won't be coming back. more

BAD, BAD, BAD!!! Also, wrong address 7/1/2011

First, let me say, Smokin' Ed's BBQ is NOT located on Conner Heights Road in Pigeon Forge. This highly rated and apparently much loved BBQ is now gone. Another Smokin' Ed's is open in Sevierville, which I had the unfortunate opportunity of trying today. It is obvious after reading the wonderful reviews from the now defunct Pigeon Forge location that the Sevierville restaurant is the same in name only! WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THE SEVIERVILLE, TN SMOKIN' ED'S BASED ON REVIEWS PRIOR TO SPRING OF 2011!!! All the old, and really good, reviews are for that of the old Pigeon Forge location. I can tell you the Smokin' Ed's in Sevierville, which just opened a couple of months ago, does NOT merit any of their accolades! The food our large group had was nearly inedible! First of all, the meat we had was room temperature, not hot. My brother's ribs were horrible. My sister-in-law had the half chicken, it was so dark and dry that she couldn't eat it. The sauce was disgusting and watered down. The only side that was decent were the baked beans. I would not refer anybody here. Take my advice, and go a few miles down the road to the newly reopened Clint's BBQ. more

AGREE with NOT THE REAL DEAL 6/21/2011

I have to agree with you SammyVolFan on your NOT THE REAL DEAL review. I mistakenly wrote my last review on the Pigeon Forge location, but it is closed now and new people are running the Smokin' Ed's in Sevierville. The Smokin' Ed's in Pigeon Forge was wonderful. It was the BEST bbq I have ever had. But this new place is awful. I can promise you SammyVolFan and others who used to like the old Smokin' Ed's in Pigeon Forge that it is not the same people. I have been to both and the couple that ran the one in Pigeon Forge had great food and service. This one is the opposite! more

Wrong Address, New Owners, Gone WAY Downhill!!! 6/21/2011

Used to LOVE this place, before it got new owners and new managers and new location. Guess they are cooking way more food and have new cooks, but it is NOT the same. Also they are not even in Pigeon Forge, but in Sevierville. The Smokin' Ed's on Conner Heights in closed down. I really wanted the new place to be good because the old Smokin' Ed's in Pigeon Forge was the ONLY place to get BBQ in this area, but it is not the same. My chicken was overcooked and gritty on my first visit. I thought maybe it was an off day, so I tried again, this time ribs. They were HORRIBLE. My boyfriend really didn't believe me when I told him about the difference in this store and the old one in Pigeon Forge so I tried it a third time with him. EVERYTHING was BAD! Our meats were cold. We thought we would play it safe with pulled chicken and pork. The chicken was dry. The fries were disgusting. My slaw was more like soup. And the Texas toast they serve now instead of a bun is awful. The butter they use is rancid tasting. These new owners really need to take a step back and look at how things were being done before at the old place if they want to stay in business. The one in Pigeon Forge may have been smaller and not as decorated, but the food was perfect. Now that we've given them so many chances we will not be back. more

Smokin' Ed's in Sevierville, TN is NOT the Real Deal! 6/18/2011

Used to LOVE Smokin' Ed's in Smyrna, TN, so when I saw there was one in Sevierville, TN right on Dolly Parton Parkway, I was totally excited. I have missed Smokin' Ed's in Smyrna. Well, let me tell you, it's NOT the same. Ed is not even there. The food SUCKED! My ribs didn't fall off any bone, the chicken was completely dry and disgusting like it had been reheated over and over, and the pulled pork seemed like it had been sitting out. The sides were no better. The Texas toast was disgusting and tasted like it had fake butter slathered on it. The sauce was watered down and not very flavorful. The friendly, down home service was not there. I could hear the workers in the back yelling and cussing. There was nothing pleasant about the atmosphere. I stayed thinking the food would be worth it and boy was I wrong. When I complained about the service and quality of food, a guy came out who said he owned the place who was a complete jerk. WARNING: The 5 star review above mine have very old dates, and that is because they are from the Smokin' Ed's in Smyrna. I can promise you they weren't from this place in Sevierville. These people are frauds if they tell you they have the same food as Smokin' Ed's in Smyrna did. I knew Ed's food in Smyrna very well and I knew the way he and his employees treated everyone who walked in the door. Nothing about this place is the same. more

Great Food but Not Great Service 3/2/2011

Let me start by saying the food was out of this world. I can honestly say that I had the best BBQ I've ever had anywhere and it is just like the BBQ they had in Pigeon Forge before this one opened. What is not the same is the service. The service was pitiful. None of the servers looked to be over the age of 19 or 20 and none looked like they had a clue of what to do. This was during lunch and it was a little busy but not all the tables were full. The owners who I knew from the Pigeon Forge BBQ were seating people and cleaning tables and talking to customers about there complaints. The table next to ours had the same problems we did. I did talk to one of them to and said what I am saying here. It is just not the same as when we started coming to eat Smokin' Ed's over the summer to the small BBQ in Pigeon Forge. There the service was great and they were so nice and helpful. Somehow if they could get some more experience in there who has been in service and is trained like at the other place this would be the best place in town. I love the food so I want to see them make it at this spot. more

good 2/28/2011

Food was good. Just servers were really slow! I'll go back on an off day. more

Great! 2/16/2011

The food was great and the portions were huge! Big screen TVs and BBQ...love it! \r \r P.S.\r The new light at that intersection makes it a lot easier to get in and out of too =) more

No, no, no 8/24/2010

No way, even if you paid me, would I eat here. I highly do NOT recommend. more

BEST BBQ IN THE SOUTH PERIOD 5/17/2005

The sauce is KING here...the ribs are the best in the world. I cannot say enough about the pork or the ribs. Beans, Cole Slaw and Potato Salad are all perfectly balanced and savory. The sauce is incredible. I use the HOTTT version on my shrimp on the BBQ at the house. DONT HESITATE TO DRIVE TO SMYRNA...you can smell your way to the BBQ SHACK! Pros: BBQ RIBS/PORK, PRICES, SAUCE! Cons: Drive up Shack, Take out Only, I EAT TOO MUCH! more

Hands Down, the best 5/25/2004

The best ribs, the best everything. Great prices, great service, fantastic food! Huge smokers just outside the front door - place your order, and someone heads for the smoker to grab it and wrap it in foil, just off the heat - how fresh can you get? Ribs simply fall off the bone, great flavors - it's just the best. Shame about the decor - it's takeout only, and the small shanty you have to order in is tiny and somewhat unkempt. Still, if you're planning a picnic or just want amazing ribs for dinner, there's realy no competition anywhere in Tennesse. Pros: Incredible food., Great, fast service, Great prices Cons: , All the way in Smyrna more
