Warm fun atmosphere - Best chain BBQ out there 2/13/2007

My husband and I are certified BBQ judges and have been to the Smokey Bones in Fenton on numerous occasions. Arrive early - abundant crowds at peak times, though we've never waited more than 20 minutes. My favorite is the pulled pork, great serving size and I always get the tender/crisp green beans and slaw ( give the big hunk of texas toast to my hubby). You've gotta try all 3 sauces that are always on the table. I didn't know I liked the Carolina mustard style until I tried it ! Hubby and his friend always get the full slab of ribs so they'll have a few leftover ribs for a late night snack. Monthly beer specials and lots of variety . Never been able to make it to desert but I hear those little fried doughnut thingys are great. more

Not worth the drive... much less getting out of your car! 9/15/2006

A family member and myself at at this chain restaurant and thought it was terrible outing. We were seated quickly, but took the waitress a long time (over 5 minutes) to bring us our drinks (2 glasses of water). Our orders were taken, and the food delivered and were we ever shocked! No salad and no bread was served along with the meal (although I must say there was no mention of it on the menu). It was purely entrees at full meal service prices. The BBQ is not that good, the sauce was over sweet. Not being a fan of BBQ, I had the chicken fried steak which was okay, if you believe in New York City sized portions with thin white gravy. We think the waitress knew we weren't happy with the food and instead of asking us "How is your food" or "Is there anything I can get for you?", she said "Doing ok?" as she half walked away from the table before even waiting for an answer. I won't eat here again. Pros: Empty Restaurant Cons: Everything else! more

  • In Short
Rustic accents like logs, lanterns and fieldstone may adorn the exterior, but inside, it's all about ceiling-mounted TVs for fans who want sports with their spicy food. A large bar with a giant television dominates, while flanking wooden booths come with audio selectors and easy views of nearby screens. Sundry meats are cooked in-house over hickory wood: pulled pork (hand-pulled daily), baby back ribs, barbecued chicken, smoked beef brisket and various combination platters.
