When my mechanic retired about 5 years ago, he sniffed around for a good, honest replacement to send his customers to. He recommended Dave with Smith Specialty Automotive. They have done everything for me, from oil changes to replacing a cracked head gasket. Most recently, they replaced my transmission. They ran a few tests at the 2-week mark to see if everything was okay, and it looks good. It is hard to find a mechanic that is both good and honest. Dave Smith is both. I have been using Smith Specialty Automotive for 15 years or so. They are really personable, dependable mechanics, and they provide prompt service. For example, my wife's check engine light in her van came on at 11 a.m. on a Saturday. We took it to Smith Specialty Automotive and found out that it needed a major repair. They worked on it until 11 p.m. that night to get the job done. They are that kind of business. I appreciate that they always call me before doing any repairs to make sure that the price is okay with me. They give you consultation and explain what needs to be done, providing you with a list so that you can decide what you want them to do. They are very respectful of the customer's wishes. We have 2 vans and both of them have been in the shop in the past month -- 1 for transmission work and 1 for engine work. Smith Specialty Automotive has done great work for us. Once they fix a problem, you know it will stay fixed. If it is not fixed to your satisfaction, they will make it right. I have never had a problem with them in 15 years. John McCoy more
