Slone Lumber Co

I used to go here because they had GREAT wood. NO MORE I could not get treated 10ft 2x4's that were #1 quality at $6.70 each. After over an hour of hassle of 20 boards I was able to find 4. As I was paying men to move the wood at $10/hr this stop cost me a lot more than what I expected. They guy bringing the wood from the stacks was a complainer , surly and unwilling to get more wood for selection. The salesman kept saying without even looking at what had been presented ""you just can't get ""perfect"" wood anymore"" at no time did any of the management look at what was brought out but they continued to offer excuses and suggest it was me. On the good side the guys who handle the inside storage area wood were outstanding helpful and the extreme opposite. Slone's wood is not the least expensive in town and certainly not the best quality anymore. Too bad - I will drive to Pasadena Lumber or go to Lowe's which is where I went after Slone's to get wood that day. Save your time, money and nerves don't go to Slone,s. It's not what it used to be. It is sad to see a good place go south more

A couple months ago my husband and I ordered a custom door from Slone - we went in and gave them our measurements and drawings and made sure there were no questions about the door and what we needed. The door was milled and deliver promptly (best part of the whole deal) except it was flat out wrong - hinges clearly on the wrong side. After calling three times to see what to do over the course of one week, no one who answered the phone could help us out and we were told someone would contact us - but no one returned our calls. We finally borrowed a truck and took it to them - showed them the issue, the measurements and drawings that clearly showed this was their error, and they said they could re-mill it and it would ""probably"" fit. Since they would offer nothing else (not even admission of error on their part!) we agreed and picked up the door two days later. It hung on the frame okay, but the handle and deadbolt did NOT fit right. Instead of dealing with them again (not like we'd be able to anyway since they don't return calls or know what to tell you when you actually talk to someone) we trashed the door and chalked it up to ""bad business"" and ""live and learn."" So take our experience as a warning - not only can they not make doors adequately, their customer service absolutely stinks! more
