This restaurant, located just outside of town off Route 30, is more of an upscale restaurant. This is a “sit down and enjoy the evening” kind of place, with a warm, pleasant atmosphere and excellent dining.
Reservations are recommended. Upon arrival, you are presented with a couple of books of matches with the name of your “party” printed in gold letters on the front of the match books. A nice touch and very classy.
The restaurant itself contains two large dining areas and a bar. The service at the bar is prompt and cordial, and the waitstaff is always charming. We have been there many times and never had any issues with the service.
The restaurant can be dimly lit. But the atmosphere is “intimate dining” and is carried through with booths for couples. There are larger tables for family seating and you can also bring a large party here and find ample and spacious seating just as well.
There is a salad bar, featuring fresh greens, assorted toppings, several well chilled dressings , soup and fresh bread. I like the salad bar and have always found the greens to be fresh and the bowls full.
However, the hot fresh bread brought to the table with the “sweet butter” is a real treat that I will bypass the bread at the salad bar for the bread at the table.
The wine list is very good, not too many different wines to choose from but enough to compliment any meal. I’ve had the “house wine” by the glass often and the merlot is a fine, full bodied wine that goes well with the beef dishes we come here to enjoy.
My favorite here is the prime rib, which is always cooked the way I like it, rare, with gravy and mushrooms. The baked potatoes are not overly large, so you can dig into the steak and not worry about getting full too fast. My husband likes the filet minion, well done, and he has always enjoyed his meal, never over done, tough or dry.
This is a high end restaurant, as I mentioned, and the pricing can be moderate to high. The prime rib sometimes is on “special” and we do catch a break once in a while. But the quality of the beef more than justifies the prices, and I don’t mind paying a little more for quality beef, better wines and excellent service.
If you are looking for a fancy meal, celebrating a special occasion or looking for a great dining experience, the Skyway East is a good choice as an upscale restaurant specializing in fine dining.
