This place is AWESOME, and they have wonderful readings on site. No one rushes you, and the vibe is a very good one. more

Cozy book store 6/14/2006

Skylight is what you've come to expect from an independent bookstore, a knowledgeable staff, a great selection of magazines (though sadly no Japanese titles like Cutie), and the must for any bookstore located in an "artsy" neighborhood- a good graphic design and clip art book section. Whether you want to pick up some cute, design-y stationary for a friend, a quirky birthday card, a Dover clip art book or a really great art book, Skylight has what you need. Not to mention they have some great speakers come through. Went to see Aimee Bender there, which was a treat. more

Support this Store! 1/16/2006

This great, independent shop is a wonderful source for magazines, books, and more. A rack of self-published volumes from local poets and artists stands by the front door. Reviews written by employees sit on the shelves below the volumes they recommend. Friendly staff members are waiting to help you find what you need, and a peaceful ambiance invites you to sit and browse for a bit. Just as long as you refrain from tapping the shopfront glass where the store mascot (a fat tabbycat) likes to nap, you'll be welcome. more

Good Bookstore for Los Feliz 11/29/2005

Skylight Books is a pretty good bookstore for the neighborhood of Los Feliz. They keep a good selection on-hand of what are hip books for the community and have a succesful series of book readings and signings. Even if you happen to miss one of the events, you can usually pick up a signed copy of the book afterward. I saw the late Hubert Selby, Jr. read here once and it was amazing. more

Book store with a vision 11/17/2005

Sky light books is a well arranged book store with many books on wide ranging interests from cooking to computers. You can get hard to find books that have gone out of circulation and some that are quite rare too. Boo Authors often show up for signings and they also have some monthly programs to stimulate kids reading habits. The Holidays prompt clearance and bargains on all the books more

Coolest place. 11/17/2005

Skylight is a unique. Located in Los Feliz, one of the hottest little areas in Los Angeles, it has a great selection of books and a very comfortable, cozy vibe. Skylight is known for having authors reading in the store every month. It is a good place to find what you’re looking for, get it signed by the author then sit down and read it. Definitely worth a visit. Parking is limited but you can find space on any surrounding block. more
